Ghadamgah Mosque( Cave) is located near the village of Ghadamgah( Badamyar Village), 12 km southeast of Azar Shahr, in East Azerbaijan province. Resembling a cave in the heart of mountain it was used as a temple in the pre-islamic era and in fact in 6 to 8 centuries AH it served as a worshipping place for thebdervish and mystics and later on it became a mosque.
The underground cave looks like a circle with a diameter of 15 m. Some archrlogists believe that it belongs to the prehistoric era which then turned to a temple and later on became a worshiping spot for Muslims who put an alter in the direction of qibla.
A hstoric emetery lies in the village too, 200 m from the mosque.
