BIOGRAPHY OF HASAN AMID

He was researcher, journalist, lexicographer and author.
Born in 1910 in MASHHAD (IRAN) and expired on AUGUST 1979.
AMID in youth time, published all his articles in KHORASAN magazine. Then became editor of the East Voice weekly magazine. After that, took management of KHORASAN calendar magazine. In 1934, started to publish TOUS newspaper in MASHHAD CITY until 1944.
Soviet forces, after the Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran, expelled and deported AMID to Tehran. Following this action, he wrote many letters to prime minister`s office and requested them for his return. His first work was New Dictionary book in cooperation with FERAIDOUN SHADMAN. After this, published many small and big dictionaries. He became more matured. and in 1965, he published Selected Vocabulary book. Two years later, he introduced his best service.
This was history, geography and public information dictionary.
These two books were welcomed by many.
Professor SAEED NAFISI illustrated in the guide book. And other authors in magazines and newspapers like Tehran Journal, ETELAAT, KEYHAN, MIR, KHORASAN, Our War, justice, East Sun, sound of KHORASAN, Freedom and KHORASAN voice tried to introduce them. These dictionaries were then published frequently and are in demand even now also.
HASAN AMID gave publishing right of all his books to ABDUL AMIR JAFARI the manager of AMIR KABIR publishing company for a million TOMAN (Iranian currency). The paid amount was unprecedented at that time.

FEATURES OF AMID`S DICTIONARY:

Phonetic symbols of words (for the correct pronunciation of words) were brought in parenthesis for each word.
Imported European words are also mentioned with exact meanings.
Words type were expressed according to the primary grammar.
Transliteration of Arabic words were written, based on the original pronunciation. And meaning of vocabulary words presented in a clear and simple language.
Pictures were chosen for some of the words.
In 2010, AMID Persian dictionary was edited by FARHAD GHORBANZADE. This man cooperated with DEHKHODA dictionary too. GHORBANZADE published the AMID`s dictionary as dichromatic that won the season award.
In this edition, twenty five researchers worked with GHORBANZADE. This editing was done in coordination with the survivors of professor. Now, this is the only Persian dictionary that comes along with a free CD.
