The village of Gul Akhur is regarded one of the attractions of East Azerbaijan Province which belongs to the rural district of Arzil, the district of Kharvana, and the town of Varzaghan. The village lies on the way from Varzaghan to Kharvana in a region called Mammad Agha 3-way road.
It is located 60 km from the center of the town. Thanks to the waterfall of Gul Akhur and cool weather conditions it is a potential tourism spot throughout the province and each year thousands of visitors are drawn to enjoy its charms.
The villagers are mostly Sayyed and the shrine of Imamzadeh Pir Sayyed Ali Agha is housed on the other side of the village, towards the gardens. The term Gul Akhur means Gol Riz in Azeri.
The waterfall which is indeed among the main draws of the village originates from 3 cool abundant springs which flow down at pressure.
The permanent river which flows in the heart of the mountain, the remarkably luxuriant valley as well as water mills have turned the village to a delightful tourism spot in the heart of Arasbaran. The locals call the waterfall Cherna.
In addition to the waterfall, Jala Daghi Peak and the summer-quarters towards the peak are favorite to tourists and mountain climbers.
Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization has made a couple of covered tables for sightseers on the areas on top of the waterfall. To easily take the tourists towards the waterfall a couple of stairs have been made.
