Ingredients
Rice 1 kg
Sugar, 1 kg
Oil
Saffron
Silvered pistachios, 3 tbsp
Silvered almonds, 3 tbsp
Turmeric, a pinch
Tangerine skin, sliced, a few
Combine sugar with 2 glasses of water in a saucepan and make a thick syrup over the flame. In the meantime, add in brewed saffron along with 2 tablespoons of oil.
Put the pre-soaked rice inside a pot over the flame along with its water. Sprinkle over a pinch of turmeric and bring it to a boil. After a few seconds, the rice gets softened. Transfer the rice into a big mixing bowl and pour over the prepared syrup, using a sieve. Combine them well. Then put the rice into the pot again over the low flame. Put the lid wrapped in a clean piece of cloth. Close to the end of cooking, sprinkle over the slices, pistachios, almonds, and tangerines. After a few seconds the dish is ready. Sweet Rice is served with Gheimeh Stew. Bon Appetit!
