There are many critics of Zionism, whether Jews and among European and American politicians. But given that the Council of Europe and America from the time of Napoleon's ruling were fans of forming a Zionist government in Palestine, their views had no influence on the Western countries' policy. Perhaps the most conventional opposition to Zionism government took place on behalf of the Secretary of Defense, James Forrestal, who frequently spoke with the President about the dangers of arousing the hostility of the Arabs that would have led to opposition to have the oil resources in the region and "the harsh impact of the issue on security of the United States ".
Here it is necessary to mention several Jewish critics of Zionism in short:
1- Professor Martin Buber: he writes in an essay:
Only an internal revolution can heal our fatal disease of unexplained hatred of our people (for the Arabs). The illness will destroy us. Only then our young people and followers will know that how great our responsibility is towards poor Arab refugees whose cities have been occupied by us and have settled Jews of other lands there; Arabs whose homes were inherited by us, and we agriculture on their lands, and we collect fruit of their orchards and gardens, and in cities of them we built school and chapel and charities, while constantly we brag about the idea that we believe in "the Bible" and we are "light of nations"!
2- Doctor Yoda el. Magnus: asks in speaking about "Jewish" political nationalism and Palestinian Arab rights:
Will Jews here in Palestine be brutal and militarism like some of the latest "Maccabees" in addition to their efforts to create a political organization? It seems that we are thinking about everything except the Arabs. If we want to live in this living space, we must live with the Arabs, and we shall continue in perfect peace with them ... Is our nationality based on force and violence like all nations, or is it a spiritual nationality? Jewish rights are not political rights of the majority.
3- Professor Albert Einstein in his book titled "in recent years of my life" speaks about doom diseases of our time, "extreme nationalism resulted by blind hatred" and says:
I prefer agreement with the Arabs according to a peaceful life than creating a Jewish state. Practical considerations aside, what I know of the essential nature of Judaism, it is not the same idea of a Jewish state with clear boundaries, military and temporal and mortal power. The harm that "Judaism" will be incurred, particularly by the expansion and development of a narrow nationalism within a "Jewish state", makes me horrified. We are not Jews under the Maccabees! Back to the nation in the political sense of the word is equivalent to getting away from our community that we owe it to the genius of our prophets.
4- Luis D. Brandeis: during the First World War he joined the Zionist movement, but a few years later, he cut all his ties with the World Zionist Organization. Judge Mac cried while talking in favor of Brandeis' comments at the annual convention of Zionism (Cleveland, June 1921):
Now I solemnly declare that no political relationship would join Jews of the world together, but politically, the Jewish citizens of the United States of America are exclusively the American citizens ... but at the time we declared as I now declare that in the United States of America, and Western Europe, there is no such thing as political rights of national minorities, and we claim such rights for ourselves... the thought of the political situation of the Jews in the world was a an impossible thought.
5- Professor Maurice B. Cohen: he is one of the largest outspoken critics of Zionism, and the best example of a Jew from Eastern Europe who combined perfectly with life of intellectuals of America. We can read his remarks in his book "The journey of a dream man":
I do not know the religious belief among a substantial number of Jews that is not so among other people to some extent. Jews are people just like other peoples and they are just happened to be Jewish ... We're not a nation without homeland. We have helped to build our country in America. The vast majority of Jewish immigrants and their descendants in the country have committed their lives to the basic principles of American democracy, and it is that here in the United States, men and women with different backgrounds work together, and each one participates in building the greater civilization than What is available... the Zionist believe that Jews are superior and cleaner race. Any art and virtue, idealism, etc., are of the special qualities of the Jewish spirit. And the spirit can only root in Palestine.
6- William Zuckerman: writes in the book "degeneration of Judaism in our times":
The United Jewish Appeal (UJA) that was at the beginning a humanitarian organization, since the advent of the State of Israel has become the arm of the Jewish Agency, which is a branch of the state of Israel. Instead of helping Jews to rebuild their lives... most of all, it is an Agency for providing funding of "gathering and attracting Jews to Israel" and other nationalism and Israel's policies; policies that sometime no sign of government man is not seen in it and some even have military features ... why Jewish community, which more than all has wealth and power at its disposal, voluntarily lives in the atmosphere of adulation and ideological and controlled thought that in countries behind the Iron curtain can be imposed only by force?
7- Professor Hans Cohen: Cohen was a professor of history at College of New York, some colleges and universities in America. Some of his most famous books include American nationalism, nationalism and freedom, nationalism thought, twentieth century, prophets and people, and the meaning and history of nationalism.
Hans Kohn knows political Zionism as a product of stupid nationalist, imperialist and colonialist incentives that became as the model and philosophy of European nations' life and culminating in the two world wars.
8- Rabbi Elmer Berger: he issued a highly critical statement and said the following:
The day has arrived that we must shout "Stop!” Bounding the Jews of America to a Jewish flag and national Jewish army in Palestine and dual citizenship in America was too much for us. Palestinian issue an annoying factor has entered relations within the Jewish community. We do not want to be religious acrobats. We cannot stop protesting against this untenable issue of our society where "Jewish" nationalism is imposed on us as a creed.
9- Alfred Lilienthal: he is one of the most active leaders, who has dedicated everything. He published an article entitled "Israel's flag is not my flag!" that in 1949 came to international fame overnight. After that three books of him were published: Israel, at what price? (1953), the Middle East and its current affairs (1957), and the other side of coin (1965), three extraordinary, original and illuminating books about the havoc role of the Zionists in Arabic Palestine and Middle East.
10. Doctor Israel Shahak: he is the boldest critic of Jewish Zionism. He believes that there is an essential similarity between Nazism and Zionism. He stated in an article in 1973, the Jewish supporting of Israel is ugly and is opponents of mainstream of Jewish traditions, and it will bring misery to Israel. It seems to me that the majority of my nation have left God, and have replaced an idol for him, just as they worshiped "golden calf" in desert. The Calf that they gave their gold to build. The new idol is the State of Israel.
In addition, Kenrich Long, America's deputy interior minister, said in a speech in November 1943:
Palestinians politically has utmost importance for the United States, so the government can no longer remain indifferent to this issue. This speech is in fact considered as turning point of the United States' official political change in the Middle East. President of America, Franklin Roosevelt stated that the America's government did not approve the contents of the white paper dated 1939 of Great Britain.
In fact, in the heat of battle, without any opportunity loses, the ruling circles of the United States started realizing their goals. In fact, their goal was to do needed political measures in the favorable conditions, to ensure that "foundation of essential intellectual and historical interests" of the United States in Palestine and "the Jewish people settled there" would seem according to public demand.
According to this new trend, in November 1945, a joint commission of the United Kingdom and the United States was formed to solve the Palestinian problem. A part of the Commission's comments are as follows:
A. immigration of people, who have been violated by Fascism and Nazism, to Palestine is essential. Therefore, the Commission authorized the arrival of hundreds of thousands of Jews to Palestine.
B. Because it is certain that none of the two categories - not Arabs and not Jews - would not accept moderate solutions, so it is necessary to form a government composed of representatives of three religions, Christianity, Islam and Judaism.
C. Temporarily the mandate will continue.
The United States succeed to attract Stalin (Soviet Union)'s approval:
We had no other way but to count Zionist as imperialist entity [...] however, now the situation has completely changed. Our attitude has seen drastic changes. If Soviet Russia wants to consider future issues of the Middle East, it is clear that the progressive Jews of Palestine create more hopes in us to control backward Arab kings and gangs.
In fact, Zionists of America were the greatest supporter and the main stronghold of the Zionists in Palestine, and without them, the establishment of Israel way not possible in any way. Financial and moral assistance to the Zionists in Palestine in different ways, inure public opinion to the spirit of Zionism and direct contact with the leadership of America's foreign policy circles for coordination with the Zionists in Palestine were major objectives of American Zionists. American Zionists' role in government circles was evident well in the America's three presidents' policies, Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt and Truman. In 1917, Wilson played a major role in the Balfour Declaration. In 1943 Roosevelt put the British government under pressure to accept hundreds of thousands of new immigrants in Palestine. Before anyone else, he connected the fate of Europe's Jews to Palestine and gave credibility to the Zionists' claim that Palestine is the last refuge of Jews in America. Truman's role in support of Zionists and emphasizing on the acceptance hundred thousand Jewish immigrants in Palestine, and then the establishment of Israel and recognizing it cannot be denied.
When Roosevelt died on April 12, 1945, Truman became President of America and issued a statement in connection with Zionism and Palestine as follows:
America's official position toward the Palestine is allowing more Jews there, as far as possible ... to facilitate the establishment of a Jewish state there.
Truman did not only rely on adopting division resolution that was issued in 1947, but he also called for continuing pressure on other countries so that they will approve it. On May 14 of 1948, Truman announced that he recognizes the Jewish emerging and newly established government.
Apart from these people who were mentioned in brief, there are lots of other people who have explained the facts and truth about Zionism and still do, but noticing the duty of Zionism, which is protecting Imperialism interests and it has numerous supports of European countries and America, it still acts as a base in the region.
