The condemned needs of desires
Quran states
یَا دَاوُودُ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاكَ خَلِیفَةً فِی الْأَرْضِ فَاحْكُم بَیْنَ النَّاسِ بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعِ الْهَوَىٰ فَیُضِلَّكَ عَن سَبِیلِ اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ الَّذِینَ یَضِلُّونَ عَن سَبِیلِ اللَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِیدٌ بِمَا نَسُوا یَوْمَ الْحِسَابِ
O David! We did indeed make thee a vicegerent on earth: so judge thou between men in truth (and justice): Nor follow thou the lusts (of thy heart), for they will mislead thee from the Path of Allah: for those who wander astray from the Path of Allah, is a Penalty Grievous, for that they forget the Day of Account.
وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنَاهُ بِهَا وَلَٰكِنَّهُ أَخْلَدَ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ ۚ فَمَثَلُهُ كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِ إِن تَحْمِلْ عَلَیْهِ یَلْهَثْ أَوْ تَتْرُكْهُ یَلْهَث ۚ ذَّٰلِكَ مَثَلُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا بِآیَاتِنَا ۚ فَاقْصُصِ الْقَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ یَتَفَكَّرُونَ
If it had been Our will, We should have elevated him with Our signs; but he inclined to the earth, and followed his own vain desires. His similitude is that of a dog: if you attack him, he lolls out his tongue, or if you leave him alone, he (still) lolls out his tongue. That is the similitude of those who reject Our signs; So relate the story; perchance they may reflect.
أَفَرَأَیْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَٰهَهُ هَوَاهُ وَأَضَلَّهُ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ وَخَتَمَ عَلَىٰ سَمْعِهِ وَقَلْبِهِ وَجَعَلَ عَلَىٰ بَصَرِهِ غِشَاوَةً فَمَن یَهْدِیهِ مِن بَعْدِ اللَّهِ ۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
Then seest thou such a one as takes as his god his own vain desire? Allah has, knowing (him as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart (and understanding), and put a cover on his sight. Who, then, will guide him after Allah (has withdrawn Guidance)? Will ye not then receive admonition?
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ
And for such as had entertained the fear of standing before their Lord´s (tribunal) and had restrained (their) soul from lower desires.
فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ هِیَ الْمَأْوَىٰ
.Their abode will be the Garden
قُلْ یَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لَا تَغْلُوا فِی دِینِكُمْ غَیْرَ الْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا أَهْوَاءَ قَوْمٍ قَدْ ضَلُّوا مِن قَبْلُ وَأَضَلُّوا كَثِیرًا وَضَلُّوا عَن سَوَاءِ السَّبِیلِ
Say: "O people of the Book! exceed not in your religion the bounds (of what is proper), trespassing beyond the truth, nor follow the vain desires of people who went wrong in times gone by,- who misled many, and strayed (themselves) from the even way.
قُلْ هَلُمَّ شُهَدَاءَكُمُ الَّذِینَ یَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ حَرَّمَ هَٰذَا ۖ فَإِن شَهِدُوا فَلَا تَشْهَدْ مَعَهُمْ ۚ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَ الَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا بِآیَاتِنَا وَالَّذِینَ لَا یُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ وَهُم بِرَبِّهِمْ یَعْدِلُونَ
Say: "Bring forward your witnesses to prove that Allah did forbid so and so." If they bring such witnesses, be not thou amongst them: Nor follow thou the vain desires of such as treat our signs as falsehoods, and such as believe not in the Hereafter: for they hold others as equal with their Guardian-Lord.
2. Perishing
Quran states
یَا بَنِی إِسْرَائِیلَ قَدْ أَنجَیْنَاكُم مِّنْ عَدُوِّكُمْ وَوَاعَدْنَاكُمْ جَانِبَ الطُّورِ الْأَیْمَنَ وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَیْكُمُ الْمَنَّ وَالسَّلْوَىٰ
O ye Children of Israel! We delivered you from your enemy, and We made a Covenant with you on the right side of Mount (Sinai), and We sent down to you Manna and quails.
كُلُوا مِن طَیِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ وَلَا تَطْغَوْا فِیهِ فَیَحِلَّ عَلَیْكُمْ غَضَبِی ۖ وَمَن یَحْلِلْ عَلَیْهِ غَضَبِی فَقَدْ هَوَىٰ
(Saying): "Eat of the good things We have provided for your sustenance, but commit no excess therein, lest My Wrath should justly descend on you: and those on whom descends My Wrath do perish indeed''.
3. Sunset
Quran states
قُلْ تَعَالَوْا أَتْلُ مَا حَرَّمَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَیْكُمْ ۖ أَلَّا تُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَیْئًا ۖ وَبِالْوَالِدَیْنِ إِحْسَانًا ۖ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا أَوْلَادَكُم مِّنْ إِمْلَاقٍ ۖ نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُكُمْ وَإِیَّاهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ ۖ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا النَّفْسَ الَّتِی حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ وَصَّاكُم بِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
Say: "Come, I will rehearse what Allah hath (really) prohibited you from": Join not anything as equal with Him; be good to your parents; kill not your children on a plea of want;- We provide sustenance for you and for them;- come not nigh to shameful deeds. Whether open or secret; take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.
وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا مَالَ الْیَتِیمِ إِلَّا بِالَّتِی هِیَ أَحْسَنُ حَتَّىٰ یَبْلُغَ أَشُدَّهُ ۖ وَأَوْفُوا الْكَیْلَ وَالْمِیزَانَ بِالْقِسْطِ ۖ لَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا ۖ وَإِذَا قُلْتُمْ فَاعْدِلُوا وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبَىٰ ۖ وَبِعَهْدِ اللَّهِ أَوْفُوا ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ وَصَّاكُم بِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ
And come not nigh to the orphan´s property, except to improve it, until he attain the age of full strength; give measure and weight with (full) justice;- no burden do We place on any soul, but that which it can bear;- whenever ye speak, speak justly, even if a near relative is concerned; and fulfil the covenant of Allah: thus doth He command you, that ye may remember.
أَوْ تَقُولُوا لَوْ أَنَّا أُنزِلَ عَلَیْنَا الْكِتَابُ لَكُنَّا أَهْدَىٰ مِنْهُمْ ۚ فَقَدْ جَاءَكُم بَیِّنَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ ۚ فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن كَذَّبَ بِآیَاتِ اللَّهِ وَصَدَفَ عَنْهَا ۗ سَنَجْزِی الَّذِینَ یَصْدِفُونَ عَنْ آیَاتِنَا سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ بِمَا كَانُوا یَصْدِفُونَ
Or lest ye should say: "If the Book had only been sent down to us, we should have followed its guidance better than they." Now then hath come unto you a clear (sign) from your Lord,- and a guide and a mercy: then who could do more wrong than one who rejecteth Allah´s signs, and turneth away therefrom? In good time shall We requite those who turn away from Our signs, with a dreadful penalty, for their turning away.
هَلْ یَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا أَن تَأْتِیَهُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَوْ یَأْتِیَ رَبُّكَ أَوْ یَأْتِیَ بَعْضُ آیَاتِ رَبِّكَ ۗ یَوْمَ یَأْتِی بَعْضُ آیَاتِ رَبِّكَ لَا یَنفَعُ نَفْسًا إِیمَانُهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ آمَنَتْ مِن قَبْلُ أَوْ كَسَبَتْ فِی إِیمَانِهَا خَیْرًا ۗ قُلِ انتَظِرُوا إِنَّا مُنتَظِرُونَ
Are they waiting to see if the angels come to them, or thy Lord (Himself), or certain of the signs of thy Lord! the day that certain of the signs of thy Lord do come, no good will it do to a soul to believe in them then if it believed not before nor earned righteousness through its faith. Say: "Wait ye: we too are waiting.
4. Empty
Quran states about tyrant persons in the doomsday
هْطِعِینَ مُقْنِعِی رُءُوسِهِمْ لَا یَرْتَدُّ إِلَیْهِمْ طَرْفُهُمْ ۖ وَأَفْئِدَتُهُمْ هَوَاءٌ
They running forward with necks outstretched, their heads uplifted, their gaze returning not towards them, and their hearts a (gaping) void.
وَأَنذِرِ النَّاسَ یَوْمَ یَأْتِیهِمُ الْعَذَابُ فَیَقُولُ الَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا رَبَّنَا أَخِّرْنَا إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ قَرِیبٍ نُّجِبْ دَعْوَتَكَ وَنَتَّبِعِ الرُّسُلَ ۗ أَوَلَمْ تَكُونُوا أَقْسَمْتُم مِّن قَبْلُ مَا لَكُم مِّن زَوَالٍ
So warn mankind of the Day when the Wrath will reach them: then will the wrong-doers say: "Our Lord! respite us (if only) for a short term: we will answer Thy call, and follow the messengers!" "What! were ye not wont to swear aforetime that ye should suffer no decline.
وَقَالَ الشَّیْطَانُ لَمَّا قُضِیَ الْأَمْرُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَعَدَكُمْ وَعْدَ الْحَقِّ وَوَعَدتُّكُمْ فَأَخْلَفْتُكُمْ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ لِیَ عَلَیْكُم مِّن سُلْطَانٍ إِلَّا أَن دَعَوْتُكُمْ فَاسْتَجَبْتُمْ لِی ۖ فَلَا تَلُومُونِی وَلُومُوا أَنفُسَكُم ۖ مَّا أَنَا بِمُصْرِخِكُمْ وَمَا أَنتُم بِمُصْرِخِیَّ ۖ إِنِّی كَفَرْتُ بِمَا أَشْرَكْتُمُونِ مِن قَبْلُ ۗ إِنَّ الظَّالِمِینَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمٌ
And Satan will say when the matter is decided: "It was Allah Who gave you a promise of Truth: I too promised, but I failed in my promise to you. I had no authority over you except to call you but ye listened to me: then reproach not me, but reproach your own souls. I cannot listen to your cries, nor can ye listen to mine. I reject your former act in associating me with Allah. For wrong-doers there must be a grievous penalty.
وَبَرَزُوا لِلَّهِ جَمِیعًا فَقَالَ الضُّعَفَاءُ لِلَّذِینَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمْ تَبَعًا فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّغْنُونَ عَنَّا مِنْ عَذَابِ اللَّهِ مِن شَیْءٍ ۚ قَالُوا لَوْ هَدَانَا اللَّهُ لَهَدَیْنَاكُمْ ۖ سَوَاءٌ عَلَیْنَا أَجَزِعْنَا أَمْ صَبَرْنَا مَا لَنَا مِن مَّحِیصٍ
They will all be marshalled before Allah together: then will the weak say to those who were arrogant, "For us, we but followed you; can ye then avail us to all against the wrath of Allah?" They will reply, "If we had received the Guidance of Allah, we should have given it to you: to us it makes no difference (now) whether we rage, or bear (these torments) with patience: for ourselves there is no way of escape.
الَتْ رُسُلُهُمْ أَفِی اللَّهِ شَكٌّ فَاطِرِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ یَدْعُوكُمْ لِیَغْفِرَ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَیُؤَخِّرَكُمْ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۚ قَالُوا إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا تُرِیدُونَ أَن تَصُدُّونَا عَمَّا كَانَ یَعْبُدُ آبَاؤُنَا فَأْتُونَا بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِینٍ
Their messengers said: "Is there a doubt about Allah, The Creator of the heavens and the earth? It is He Who invites you, in order that He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a term appointed!" They said: "Ah! ye are no more than human, like ourselves! Ye wish to turn us away from the (gods) our fathers used to worship: then bring us some clear authority.
Quran states about the decline of Lut Tribe
وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ
.(And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah
فَغَشَّاهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ
. So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up
Quran states
حُنَفَاءَ لِلَّهِ غَیْرَ مُشْرِكِینَ بِهِ ۚ وَمَن یُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَكَأَنَّمَا خَرَّ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَتَخْطَفُهُ الطَّیْرُ أَوْ تَهْوِی بِهِ الرِّیحُ فِی مَكَانٍ سَحِیقٍ
Being true in faith to Allah, and never assigning partners to Him: if anyone assigns partners to Allah, is as if he had fallen from heaven and been snatched up by birds, or the wind had swooped (like a bird on its prey) and thrown him into a far-distant place.
یَا أَیُّهَا النَّاسُ إِن كُنتُمْ فِی رَیْبٍ مِّنَ الْبَعْثِ فَإِنَّا خَلَقْنَاكُم مِّن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ عَلَقَةٍ ثُمَّ مِن مُّضْغَةٍ مُّخَلَّقَةٍ وَغَیْرِ مُخَلَّقَةٍ لِّنُبَیِّنَ لَكُمْ ۚ وَنُقِرُّ فِی الْأَرْحَامِ مَا نَشَاءُ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ثُمَّ نُخْرِجُكُمْ طِفْلًا ثُمَّ لِتَبْلُغُوا أَشُدَّكُمْ ۖ وَمِنكُم مَّن یُتَوَفَّىٰ وَمِنكُم مَّن یُرَدُّ إِلَىٰ أَرْذَلِ الْعُمُرِ لِكَیْلَا یَعْلَمَ مِن بَعْدِ عِلْمٍ شَیْئًا ۚ وَتَرَى الْأَرْضَ هَامِدَةً فَإِذَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَیْهَا الْمَاءَ اهْتَزَّتْ وَرَبَتْ وَأَنبَتَتْ مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ بَهِیجٍ
O mankind! if ye have a doubt about the Resurrection, (consider) that We created you out of dust, then out of sperm, then out of a leech-like clot, then out of a morsel of flesh, partly formed and partly unformed, in order that We may manifest (our power) to you; and We cause whom We will to rest in the wombs for an appointed term, then do We bring you out as babes, then (foster you) that ye may reach your age of full strength; and some of you are called to die, and some are sent back to the feeblest old age, so that they know nothing after having known (much), and (further), thou seest the earth barren and lifeless, but when We pour down rain on it, it is stirred (to life), it swells, and it puts forth every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs).
Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) states in his prayer to God
رَّبَّنَا إِنِّی أَسْكَنتُ مِن ذُرِّیَّتِی بِوَادٍ غَیْرِ ذِی زَرْعٍ عِندَ بَیْتِكَ الْمُحَرَّمِ رَبَّنَا لِیُقِیمُوا الصَّلَاةَ فَاجْعَلْ أَفْئِدَةً مِّنَ النَّاسِ تَهْوِی إِلَیْهِمْ وَارْزُقْهُم مِّنَ الثَّمَرَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ یَشْكُرُونَ
O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in a valley without cultivation, by Thy Sacred House; in order, O our Lord, that they may establish regular Prayer: so fill the hearts of some among men with love towards them, and feed them with fruits: so that they may give thanks.
أَلَمْ یَأْتِكُمْ نَبَأُ الَّذِینَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُودَ ۛ وَالَّذِینَ مِن بَعْدِهِمْ ۛ لَا یَعْلَمُهُمْ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ۚ جَاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِالْبَیِّنَاتِ فَرَدُّوا أَیْدِیَهُمْ فِی أَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَقَالُوا إِنَّا كَفَرْنَا بِمَا أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِ وَإِنَّا لَفِی شَكٍّ مِّمَّا تَدْعُونَنَا إِلَیْهِ مُرِیبٍ
Has not the story reached you, (O people!), of those who (went) before you? - of the people of Noah, and ´Ad, and Thamud? - And of those who (came) after them? None knows them but Allah. To them came messengers with Clear (Signs); but they put their hands up to their mouths, and said: "We do deny (the mission) on which ye have been sent, and we are really in suspicious (disquieting) doubt as to that to which ye invite us.
