The carpet of Turkmen has long been known among the people of Iran and carpet weaving art has a special place among the women of this tribe. The Turkmen women and girls' knitting art has, in the past, given a special and beautiful appearance to the altar, and today it is an adornment of houses and places owned by Turkmen or interested in the culture and art of this people without any acquaintance with Turkmens and their arts and cultures, they are those who have taste and style and have seen the spirit of art in this beautiful woven collection. Turkmen have not only concentrated on carpet weaving, and have produced other things by the quality of carpet same as the large carpets. These products, according to their type and place of use, have their own names. They were related to the everyday life of the people, therefore, their shape and appearance were according to these needs. But anyway, it can be said that these woven fabrics were the ornament of the old Turkmen altar.

ENGSI: It is a curtain with the quality of carpet in the Turkmen pergola, hanging from the outside of alter. The carpet is relatively small and has straight corners and the design section in down part is wider than the upper part. The designs of ENGSI are different from the designs of the carpets that spread on the floor. QAPILIGH: Another kind of carpet that is used inside the house as an ornament of doors, so that it is hung from both sides. The lower part of the QAPILIGH has a SACHAK and close to the tip of the SACHAK, the small knobs (QUTA ZJIGH LAR) are enclosed. GARMACH: It is another kind of carpet that is installed to decorate the entrance of the house, beside ENGSI. UMOUR - DUMAN: This is another piece of decoration and is very delicate and is used to decorate the roof of the house. The bottom part ends with a SACHAK. UMOUR – DUMAN is a pair and people hung it inside the altar from top to bottom. For each pergola, 3 to 4 UMOUR-DUMAN is required. KAJBE LICK. ASMALIGH: The old Turkmen brought the bride with camels during the wedding of their sons, and decorated the camels with a variety of carpets for the suit (GELIN ALIJI / ATBASHI). One of these products is KAJABE LIK, which has a special beauty. The other product of the carpet called "ASMALIGH" also brings out the beauty of the bride's palanquin. On the wedding day, front legs of camel are wrapped in a carpet called "DOYEH DIZLIGHI" (knee strap). Upper part " ASMALIGH "and" KAJBEH LIK "had a triangular shape and the bottom of it had four corners and on both sides, SACHAKS and knobs (QOUTAZ) were hanging which made the bride's palanquin more beautiful (ATBASHI KAJBE) . In the old days, a couple of young horsemen accompanied the bride's palanquin, while their horses were decorated with beautiful woven fabrics called "ATKHALI", "ICHIRGI" and "IRLIK". The ATKHALI is kept on the back of the horse. ICHIRGI is kept under the saddle of the horse. The IRLIK is put on the horse's saddle. Among other woven cloths that have been used amongst the Turkmen people, can be mentioned: KHORJUN LAR KHORJUNHA (saddle bag) was used to carry the items while traveling. It`s surface section is decorated with elegant designs. Typically, saddle bag was tied to the horse's saddle and placed food there for long journeys. Saddle bag can be considered as a kind of carpet that has two parts, and it is used to hang on both sides of the horse and they were weaving both the parts to each other, so the saddle bag could be hanged from both sides. CHOWAL LAR JOAL (in the Turkmen language "CHOWAL") is a large carpet bag that is sewed on both sides with fibers and used to keep the home utensil and clothes in it in the past. "CHOAL" has several types: "Blank CHOWAL", "AGH CHOWAL" and "QEZIL CHOWAL" ». Blank CHOWAL is a carpet woven with a design, QEZIL CHOWAL are pairs and hang on the corner of the two sides. CHOWAL LAR is a white rug which is woven with some row designs on the background, therefore they are different from the other products. QEZIL CHOWAL (red CHOWALS) is a rug that is woven with some row designs which are placed in the red field. In addition, disposable patterns have been used. The CHOWALS, in coordination with other carpet products, have given a special look to the house. TURBALAR: One of the products of the carpet that has been used amongst the old Turkmen is the TURBALAR (saddle bag). These type of bags have given special beauty to houses, because of beautiful and elegant designs. Also, these bags are used to keep clothes, home appliances and containers. Turkmen are keeping spoons in CHAMCHA TURBA and containers in CHANAGH TURBA. In addition, there were "DOZ TOUR BALAR" (salt storage bags) in each Turkmen house. These were regarded as a sacred tool for keeping the house blessed. Also, ASHIGH TOUR BALAR bags has been indicative of a particular son position in the Turkmen families. Each bag with different size has a different pattern. At the end of the saddle bag, SACHAK was woven. Each of Turkmen tribe has its own carpet design and this variety is also visible in carpet products, but they are united by national attributes, and designs of clans are complementary to each other.
