The village is located in Fars Province, 12 km northeast of Kazeroon. The central district is part of the suburban rural district. It is known as Fars’s Masooleh since it lies in a mountainous region on the slope of the stepped hills. It’s famous for mild climate, numerous vineyards, and ancient Persian dialect.

The village’s history

There have been many articles written on the history of the village, either its pre-Islamic or post- Islamic history. Among its historical evidence are cemeteries, plinths, a monument which probably belongs to the Sassanid Era, Kufic inscriptions and daughter’s castle.
The village is mentioned almost in most geography and history books. Its history probably dates back to the Sassanid Era.
It is well-known for its great scientists, experts, and scholars who now live across the world. It has wide vineyards where grapes, currants and resins are harvested. They lie on high steep slopes in the impassable regions on a scale of hundreds of hectares.
They are truly a huge cultural heritage built through efforts of strong and hardworking people centuries ago. Their stone walls which might reach a length of hundreds of kilometers remind you of the Great Wall of China.

The gardens are so wide that they would extend towards Tange Chogan and over the peaks ( about some kilometers far from Davan). There are numerous trees like wild cherries called Babharook, Kialak or hawthorns, wild pears, oaks and mountainous almonds. The intact and diverse vegetation include: Dene Koohi, Bimadaran, Alpe, dill, Koohi Torshook and various wild flowers.
Nowadays, a remarkable part of the vineyards mainly lie in high mountainous regions which have been deserted as a result of the native migration. They are being gradually destroyed, unfortunately.
Small mountainous cottages with stone walls and ceilings built with wood and shavings have created a dreamy landscape over the mountains which sweep away a few mount climbers who would stop to take a rest. The beautiful village is a must-see for the tourists.

Daughte’s castle

It lies on a height in Kazeroon’s northern mountains and overlooks a wild field. It is hardly ever mentioned in ancient texts and is not registered on the list of Iran’s national relics. To decide its history, cultural heritage and excavation experts should study it but based on the few relics buried under the ground like walls surrounding the castle, small bits of pottery, and mortar used to build the monument it is assumed that it belongs to the Sassanid .The story behind its name relates to the Iranian cultural perspective about girls according to which they are virgin and unattainable. Castles and fortresses built on the unreachable mountains and hills were called girls.
