It’s quite fascinating to walk on pavements in a garden where partridges and geese wobble along. You might feel nervous not to walk over them.
You should be careful not to disrupt the peaceful spot of white geese, flamingoes, and pelicans sitting on the edge of the pond and not to hurt them. You should even be careful of flocks of asleep storks standing on one leg nearby. Watch out not to get too close to the ostriches territory. Here you should also be careful about bored birds. You might like to tease pelicans around but they are so serious that they would attack you if you try molesting them.
Once you are in birds’ land, you should watch out your steps; a little carelessness would end up in trampling the nest of birds with the eggs.

Birds garden in Tehran

The garden is a piece of heaven. Only one single day after the opening up of the only birds’ garden in Tehran, it’s hid by a large crowd who has chosen a Farvardin’s day to come and watch the garden.
Whether with a family or with friends, all people from girls and boys, to kids and the elderly enjoy the landscape , apart from the pollution and traffic of the city. The pristine nature in the garden with wood and stone structures and the ceiling of birds’ nests covered in rice stems have created a delightful landscape where passersby would like to sit on wooden benches and breathe in and out in the exhilarating atmosphere filled with fragrant flowers.

Where’s the birds’ heaven?

The largest spot for keeping birds is built in the northeast of the capital in the heart of Lavizan forests. To reach it, you should move on Shahid Babai highway towards east and get into Kuhestan Street and on to the parking lot in birds’ garden.

You can take Resalat square and Hengam Street towards north to reach Babai highway.

The garden lies within clean and tidy nature and birds are kept in natural conditions. It is open to the public on weekdays from 8AM to 18 PM.
If you have seen birds on documentaries only, you’ll have a chance to see them from close; beautiful white geese swimming , pelicans hunting small fish , flamingoes standing on one leg for long hours, ducks wobbling along with their kids.

Birds free from cages

Encompassing an area of about 23 hectares , it’s a suitable hub for keeping a variety of birds. Now, more than 6,500 birds with 55 different species are kept here . In the first section, birds that are more adapted to existing environment are displayed. One of the unique features of the garden is that birds are free in the environment; about 90% of the birds are kept in an open space without cages. Most of the birds adapted to the environment and laid eggs on the first days of their transfer to the garden.
The garden starts up with parrots and pigeons section, going on you can spot hunting birds , mountainous and aquatic birds in their natural space. Only the birds belonging to the family of parrots and hunting birds are kept in cages. Their cages are designed in a way that they can fly up and control the space below.
The final station belongs to African and Persian ostriches. The names of the birds ( along with their scientific terms) have been put on show too; they are put on signs for birds in open space areas or on cages.
If you need more information, you can seek help of some expert guides walking along.

It looks like a dream

Definitely, the beautiful ponds with wooden bridges are among the highly-visited areas. If you are paying a visit along with your kids or the elderly , you will certainly surprise them with beautiful ponds and exceptional birds.
Sitting down on wooden benches and watching the ponds where swans, flamingoes, geese, ducks, and pelicans have a peaceful coexistence will calm you down and invigorate you so that you ‘ll never forget the scenery . You’d prefer to stay for a few more minute to enjoy the peace and serenity.

Carriages and trolleybuses together

No worries for grandfathers and grandmothers suffering from backache or foot sore and physically disabled people at all; they can pay visits too. Once in the garden, they can take trolleybuses along and get off wherever they like. They can wait for their return to get on and have looks at other parts of the garden. This is not their only option; if you walk through the garden, you’ll certainly notice families with a kid or an elderly getting carriage rides.
No idea if you come to the garden with a personal car , a bus or a taxi. If you drive your own car, you’ll have no problem getting back. But if you use public transportation, you might feel uncomfortable to return; as it’s difficult to get hold of cars and you’ll regret your visit without your own car.

The head of the project of the birds’ garden approves this and says: it was the case when the garden just started up but now we have planned for citizens and tourist comfort.
Vans on Hengam street ( right at the beginning of the road) are available to carry tourists to the garden and turn them back to the street. Those who come over by their own cars will have no worry to park their cars. There is a large parking lot; huge enough to cater for so many cars.
