Khatai house (artists house in Tabriz)

Khataiyan, a trader and wealthy family, resided close to the north garden in houses and labyrinthine large gardens on Sadr alley.
They managed to keep their house safe over many years of war and revolution of Azerbaijan tactfully and conservatively until the Russians attacked the house on the first days of Muharram month in 1330 inspite of the announced truce. They killed those who took shelter and hid in the basement out of fear while holding the holy Quran on their heads and looted the house.
It was bought by the municipality office and on Aban 11th, 1389, it was inaugurated with the presence of Tabriz mayor and members of the city council as well as the people active in culture and art arenas under the name of ' Artists house of Tabriz 'and was handed over to the cultural and artistic municipality organization of Tabriz.
