This biography is a part of an interview which was printed in Islamic republic newspaper on 4 July 1981.
Martyr BEHESHTI explains:
I am Mohammad HOSEINI BEHESHTI. Was born in 1928, in Isfahan city (LOMIAN area). We lived in an old area of the city. My family is a spiritual family. My father was a clergyman. Father was going to a village, weekly once to lead the prayers. Many people were coming to our house and it was very memorable for me.
I am the only son of my family with two sisters. My grandfathers from father and mother side were both scholars of Isfahan.
I started the school at the age of 4. I quickly learned to read and write and study Quran. My family was calling me sharp minded. My fast learning made them to think so. When I went to school, I took the entrance exam and was told that you should go to sixth grade, but my age was so less, therefore they sent me to fourth grade. Two years later I appeared for sixth grade and became second in my school.
In 1941, I was in high school. On 11 September 1941, Reza khan was exiled. That incident made passion in youth to learn more about Islamic teachings.
I was in SAADI high school. The said school is close to market and religious schools. So I found many good friends.
I decided to leave SAADI School and continue the education in religious fields.
From 1942 to 1946, I studied Arabic literature, logic, theology and jurisprudence with fast speed. My improvement made my masters very happy. Some of them were my grandfather`s student. They were thinking I am a suitable relic of him.
My school was 4 kilometers away from home. So I requested my parents to let me stay in school. Secondly, our house was very rush. And I was getting time and place to study. Uncles and grandma also were living in our house.
In our school the second language was French, but in social environment, English was more popular. Thus I decided to take a language course. One of my relatives helped me in this way.
Martyr BEHESHTI completed his religious studies in 4 years, while others were doing it in 10 years. Moreover religious students in that time were not interested in foreign languages. One more thing, other students were studying only but our martyr was teaching, so he was learning and working at the same time.
Martyr BEHESHTI says: in 1946 I gone to QOM city. Very soon I started to study under guide of many great scholars like: AYATOLLAH MOHAGHEGH, BOROUJERDI and our dear Imam.
In 1948, I tried to study literature. Very soon I got my diploma. And then continued and received my MA. Meanwhile I was trying to get more knowledge in English language.
In those days we were having meetings with AYATOLLAH MOTAHARI and other friends. We had hot, passionate and constructive meetings for about 5 years which resulted in book by name REALISM SYSTEM.
After receiving a bachelor degree, decided to go to abroad. But when ALAME TABATABAEE came to Qom city, I attended his class. His knowledge in Islamic philosophy attracted me and when he answered my questions politely, I left the foreign journey.
Over the years we had social activities and propaganda. In 1946, I and AYATOLLAH MOTAHARI and 18 others have set a plan to go to the remotest villages to advertise. But we did not have money. Then AYATOLLAH BOROUJERDI through IMAM KHOMEINI paid us 100 TOMANS for expenses to spend in a month. That plan was very good. Because we did not want to be guest in the poor houses of villagers.
During 1950s, we participated the oil movement leaded by AYATOLLAH KASHANI. I was young clergy, and liked to help. So I attended the strikes, and had a speech in telegraph office in the summer of 1952. I remember that I compared the oil`s movement and British colonialism in relation to the work of Egyptians and their leader JAMAL ABDUL NASER and SUEZ CANAL issue. Then I warned to GHAVAMOUL SALTANE and king, to know that our nation will not tolerate colonial greed. Anyway after the coup of 1952 by supporters of king, we reached to this conclusion that we worked less. So we decided to create a cultural movement and this movement should be Islamic and suitable field for young people.
