Gilan’s Rural Heritage Museum, with an area of about 260 hectares, is located in the forest park of Saravan , 18 km on the Rasht- Tehran road. It’s a small but real example representing the lifestyle and cultural traditions of Gilan’s villages.
Generally, rural museums belong to open space museums which display the culture and civilization of the villages in a natural area. They showcase sites and monuments in a way which resembles their original shapes.
If you ever pay a visit to the museum , you’ll get to take a look at the rural architecture, ways of life and work, local foods, clothing, etc.
The architecture’s part presents old monuments along with the indigenous culture, the way of construction, and expertise in the field.
To build the museum, separated parts were allocated to restaurant, teahouse, bazaar, mosque, pasture, tea gardens, rice patch, educational workshop, handicrafts section which offers crafts such as Gamaj ( a sort of pottery used as a container for cooking), pottery, pearl weaving, Rashti Duzi ( kind of crochet work which is done on pieces of cloth), playground, a place for traditional games like Gile Mardi wrestling, Varza Jaang ( a kind of bullfighting), Lafand Bazi ( kind of acrobatics), agricultural and farming centers, architecture and anthropology research center, kids park, herbal and indigenous trees garden, recreational camping, and two guesthouses( which were built inspired by the rural architecture).
