There are plenty of options to choose from when it comes to summer trips. You can head from Tehran to Kashan, Isfahan, and Shiraz. On the path you’ll get to see tens of tourist attractions in “half of the world “and Shiraz and get familiar with their art and civilizations. You can also hit the road to Mashhad and on the route to visit highlights like salt cave in Garmsar, gates of Garmsar, Arg gate in Semnan, Tarikhane mosque , Cheshme Ali spring, Tappe-ye Hesar in Damghan, clouds forest in Shahrud, Attar’s tomb, and Jame mosque in Nishapur. After a pilgrimage to the shrine, you don’t miss Kalat-e Naderi, Nader Shah Afshar ‘s tomb, Harun al-Rashid prison etc.
Nature wandering in the edge of the Caspian Sea is another choice these days; you can start from the Anzali wetland and head off to Khosk-e Bijar, Lahijan, Langrud, Rudsar, and Siyahkal. Danial cave

Danial cave is a place to see cool water, flocks of bats, and amazing and weird shapes , as old as millions years old.
The cool cave is quite a suitable place for taking a 5-hour walk in the water and dark in summer time. The height of ceiling might reach 50 meters and in some places you’ll have to crawl where its height is only half a meter. Water’s temperature is around 17 degrees Celsius. And the temperature inside ranges from 20 to 25 digress Celsius in all seasons.

How to go there?

In Chalus, you should go for Ramsar and Tonekabon. After going through the city of Namak Abrud, you’ll get to swan motel. From there you should take a distance of about 5 km from the city to reach the village of Danial and onto the cave.

Kandovan village
This is the only rocky village with residents in the world. The elderly here say that they get into sleep only once they are sleeping under the rocky ceilings of the village , which they call them Gaya. Perhaps the early settlement dates from when the Mongol attacked and villagers sheltered in there and decided to remain.
Almost all house in the village resemble the primitive settlements . They are all pyramid-like. There is a small anthropology museum showcasing the objects related to their lifestyle. About one km from the village on the left side of the road there are also houses which look like the ones in Kandovan and are called Hilevar.
To go there: head off from Tabriz to Azar Sahr road and after the township of Sahand , you’ll get there.

Carpet museum

There are 1,500 carpets in the museum; currently only 150 of which are displayed. They all have amazing stories behind. Many of them have been spread under the steps of kings and rulers or courtiers in different dynasties throughout Iran’s history. It is open every day except for Mondays and mourning days from 9 am to 5.30 pm. Once you ever visit the place you’ll see eye-catching Tabrizi , Kermani, Kashani, and Ghomi knots as well as"Pazyryk" , the oldest carpet in the world, which of course is a replica. The original is kept in Ermitazh, St. Petersburg. The motifs and design of the 2,500year-old-carpet shows it’s completely Iranian.

Burned city

The 5,000 year-old city in the southeast of Iran in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan, is among the most advanced ancient cities. It is valuable for its unique finds like the remains of skull surgery, artificial eye, world’s animation, mosaic, and marble dishes etc., explored in early 20th century. Near the historic site, there is a museum where finds of archeological explorations are kept. It includes hundreds of ancient objects which are a must-see.
To go there: from Zahedan , it is 140 km and from Zabol, 55 km.

Do you like traveling to a pristine region?

Flower mountain in Dena

One of the most intact places in the country in terms of plant and animal diversity lies on the slopes of Dena mountains near the city of Si-Sakht in the province of Kohgiluye and Boyer Ahamad. Here you can watch oak forests and lush vegetation . You’ll also have a face-to-face encounter with animal species like brown bear, wolf, mountain goats, Dorri partridge, a variety of warbles, and red-beaked crow .
To go there: move from the city of Yasuj towards northwest . After some 34 km you’ll get to the tourist city of Dena or Si-Sakht. From there, you’ll only have 8km to go there.

Heiran gorge chairlift

Heiran is famous for its green lush lands and dangerous winding roads. The gorge is a place to ride the chairlift and watch and enjoy the awe-inspiring beauties of the valleys and mountains. Once you are on the 1.6 –kilometer-long lift , you’ll reach the last station within 11 to 20 minutes, based on the speed.
To go there: the chairlift station is located between the cities of Astara and Ardebil, some 35 km form each.

Do you like history?

Falak_al_aflak castle

It’s the forest place that will attract you once you enter Khorramabad. Dating from the Sassanid era, it’s also known as 12 towers or Sepehr castle. It lies on the ruins of the famous fortress known as Sahpur Khast ,belonging to Shapur I in the Sassanid era. It has been restored since the Safavid era and now it’s home to anthropology and archeology museums.
To go there: if you head off from Tehran, you should go through Qom, Arak and Borujerd. And after a 500-km path you’ll reach Lorestan and over to Khorramabad.
