The delightful spring in Lorestan province calls nature lovers to come over and see a piece of Iran’s heaven with beautiful unique nature.
One of the main factors which affects the livelihood and lifestyle of people in different geographical locations is the climate; and Lorestan enjoys a unique climate.
In the north , east and northwest of the province, it’s primarily snowy and it gets cold in winter and mild in summer as there are heights over 2,000meters.
In the central parts of the province between two cold and tropical strips there is Mediterranean climate in a wide strip stretching from west to southeast.
Also in the south and southwest parts, it’s mild in winter and hot in summer as they are in the proximity of the plain of Khuzestan and parts of Ilam’s province.
Its nice weather has made the area a spot for nomads in the province and the neighboring provinces who come over to use summer villages over winter.
Lorestan is a land of mountains and they have covered half of its lands. There are 35 peaks over 3,000 meters high.
The highest peaks rise in the east and southeast. Oshtorankuh, about 4,050 meters high, extends from northwest to southeast and includes many peaks.
The mountains are blanketed in snow all year round and are considered the main supplier of water throughout the province. And beautiful lakes are located in the catchment basin of Dez River.
It also boats flat lush fields which fascinate nature lovers. Among them are Sila Khor, Ali Gudarz, Alashtar, Kuh Dasht, and several other fields scattered around. There are also not wide fields which mainly lie on two sides of the main rivers in the province. Among them are Kargah ( south of Khorram Abad) ,Azna ( east) Chogholvandi , Noor Abad, Tarahan, and Khave (north) Rumeshkan ( south ) and Jaydar ( southwest).
The most abundant catchment basins across the country lie in Lorestan , which have made the place full of green lush vegetation.
There are over 33 permanent rivers which are divided into 3 main groups based on their catchment basins. Basins in the rivers of Dez and Karkhe cover 96% of the whole province. And the rivers in the center make up a tiny part of the easternmost province.
Large and abundant rivers have made unique waterfalls on their pathways in the heart of the rocks.
Rivers, unique ponds and broad lakes , soaring mountains , wide fields, and exceptional waterfalls are its main features . Dense forests and pristine pastures make another piece of the puzzle of the beautiful heaven.
Half of the lands in Lorestan are covered in forests and pastures. They mainly include oak trees. Based on the heights above sea level , pistachio , almond and oak trees are distributed throughout the land.
Among other trees are hawthorn, mountainous pistachio, Mazu, olive, wild pear, Shen, grape ,Arjan, elm-tree, fig, walnut, wild cherry, Tak, ash, berry, Kar Anjir ( a kind of fig), Van ( tree similar to chestnut, and judas-tree.
