Ghuch Guli Daghi lake is located N374°419" E462°949 "in East Azerbaijan province. It is in fact near the village of Samar Khazan, 30 km from Tabriz on the road to Miyaneh.
From Samar Khazan to the lake of Ghuch Guli extends a road towards south which can be passed by vehicles. Those who would like to get the most out of their leisure time can walk the route which will take about 3 hours.
45 minutes on the road and after reducing a height of about 100 m you'll reach a river named Nadir Chai in a grass field.
At the end of the field and the valley on the left-hand side, with little water, a cold spring flows and you can fill your water bottles.
The route continues towards south constantly and after 2 hours you'll get the lake where animals like wild goats, sheep, and rams used to go to drink water and this reflects why it's called Guch Guli, Ghuch means ram.
The lake is located in the north part of the peak.
The lake's circumference is 570 m with an area of about 24,354 square meters. The length and width measure 180 m and the depth reaches 2 m in the deepest point. The sweet and clear water lake is fed by the glaciers and snow from the north of the peak. The environment is best for camping. Recently, the mountaineering committee of the province has opened up a covered shelter beside the lake.
Ghuch Guli Daghi, Kamal, peak considered the tallest point in the mountain range of Sahand, is 3,750 m above sea level. It's known as Kamal Daghi among mountaineers. It is located on the north of the village of Chichkalu, southeast of the famous village of Lighvan and south of the village of Samar Khazan.
The average precipitation of the region ranges from 400 to 500 km. Predominantly in cold months of the year and early spring snow is massed on the slopes.
Raftu Chai river , one of the sources of Ghezel Oazan, originates on this peak. It has branches in Shah Yurdi field and flows to the south.
The river of Said Abad Chai originates in the north front of the mountain and after providing water for the villages of Samar Khazan, Metnegh, Iranigh, and Saeed Abad it ends up in the river of Talkhe Rud. The annual amount of water in the river is about 67/9 million cubic meters. The north slopes of Ghuch Guli lead up to the Tabriz plain through the mountains of Yanugh Dagh, literally burned mountain, with a mild steep.
These mountains' heights range from 500 to 600 m. In parts of them wheat and barley as well as watermelons and peas are grown( dry farming).
On the north front of the Sahand mountain lie the mountains Buyrak Dagh, Lighvan Dagh, Barakat Daghi, Demirchi Dagh, Zari Dagh, Alvan Dagh, Mutal Dagh, and Ghuch Guli which overlook the plain of Tabriz and Bostan Abad.
