Pir Ahmad Kandi Pond

Pir Ahmad Kandi Pond is located 50 km west of the city of Maku on the border between Iran and Turkey inside a depression between the heights on the north of Pir Ahmad Kandi and the southern heights of Ghiyagh Kandi in West Azerbaijan Province. It's geographical location is at North 39°18' 50" and east 44°15' 3". The pond extends east to the village of Pir Ahmad Kandi, south to the village of Ghiyagh Kandi, and west to the village of Jamal Kandi.
The pond covers an area of 100 hectares at an altitude of 1,976 m above sea level.

The region enjoys Mediterranean climate.

According to the classifications by the Ramsar Convention, the seasonal pond contains fresh water.
The way to access
You should first take the asphalt road of Maku to Bazargan, after the 3-way road of Bazargan to the village of Avajigh you will reach Pir Ahmad Kandi.
The water of the pond is used in agriculture and the surround lands, pastures. Hunting opportunities are also more or less found.
With the expansion of tourism, the pond will soon receive floods of sightseers.
