Fandoghlu Forest, located on the northwest of the country, is regarded as one the best spots for spending summer holidays. The forest is located 30 km from the city of Ardebil, 10 km south of the city of Namin. Thanks to its unique attractions and proximity to Heiran Col it is a great option for nature lovers.
The forest starts from the east of Khanghah Oliya on the way from Namin to Astara and ends in a northwest-southeast orientation in the east of the village of Khor. Fandoghlu stretches all the way through the west to the agricultural lands and ends up approximately near the villages of Khanghah Oliya, Area Tappeh, Nane Karan, Kale Sar, Karim Kandi, Mehdi Pasti, Dorjin, Ala Dizgeh, Garm Cheshmeh, Nayaragh, Suha and Hur. So as you can see there are many paths towards it.
It's called Fandoghlu since hazelnut trees grow in the region more than other plant species. Fandogh means hazelnut in Persian. However, other fruit trees like wild apples, strawberries, raspberry, medlar, and prunus are found there.
Fandoghlu offers 2 springs; one from early Farvardin until late Khordad and the other from Mehr to Aban. Inside the forest there is a hot water pool called Mishe Sui which has therapeutic features and floods of people come over to not only visit the area but to stay for a couple of days along with their families inside the forest nearby the pool and the waterfall.
Among the available facilities is the ski resort which draws many tourists during different seasons. In addition to its tourism and ecotourism charms, the foreign and domestic sightseers are provided with places which give them opportunities to stay day and night.
Fandoghlu with its fruit trees and medicinal herb species ,ski resort, hot spa, the wildlife, a moderate climate, and above all spectacular scenery is among the premiere regions which definitely has the potential to attract tourists from Iran and throughout the world.
