Asgaran is the name of a city in Tiran and Kroon in Isfahan Province. There is no historical evidence to indicate the city dates from the pre-Islamic era but regarding the finds of graves in the village of Gonahran Kroon which resemble those in the Parthian era, it at least dates from the same era.
Also, there is a spring ,nearby the pilgrim site of Ahmad Reza, whose water is highly-respected and precious among the locals. Some researchers believe that the site was a place to worship water and after the rise of Islam it turned into a holy pilgrim site. Even the name of the city is derived from the Pahlavi word, Askar, which according to the Persian mythology means where soldiers gathered together.
Apparently, the first time in the 3rd century AH,9th AD, Ibn Khordadbeh and Ibn Faghih have considered Kroon as the village of Isfahan where furnaces existed, without giving reports of its status.
Samani, 6th century AH, 12th AD, and Yaghout , 7th century AH, have talked of a village named Kroon as a district in Isfahan.
In the Ghajar era, Kroon was where the blocks in Isfahan existed and included two parts of Oliya and Sofla. The whole area was about 4 by 12 Farsakh, a Persian unit of distance equal to about 4 miles.
At the time, agricultural activities was booming in the area and produces such as wheat, barley, poppy and grapes were grown .
The water for agricultural purposes was supplied through the canal and Zayandeh Rud as well as Morghab rivers. There were famous hamlets like Kroon, Dehagh, Alavi, and Hosni.
Tirana and Asgaran were also the hamlets in Sofla Kroon.
According to most researchers, the region was a center for early settlements of warrant Arab families who stayed within the green lush valleys around Isfahan after their attack to Iran.
One of their main tribes was Tayyem.
Tiran and Kroon was a favorite summer quarter for government officials in the past. Masood Mirza Zil Alsoltan who lived there over 30 years mentions the hunting areas in Tiran and Kroon and praises its pleasant weather in his book, Tarikh Masoodi.
Ali Naderi, the footballs and captain of the national beach football team was born in the village of Hossein Abad in Kroon and still lives there. Asgaran has ISP facilities.
