Here in the heart of the capital a colorful home has laid which carries the history of Tehran. The home of Mogadam museum is the father home of Doctor "Mohsen Mogadam" Famous Iranian archaeologist who during his lifetime, with his great creative mind and thought built each brick of family home so professionally that becomes a museum in every aspect. The inside Monuments and Arts all and all are the outcomes of years of efforts and hard work as well as scientific works and travels of the master to different parts of the world and gathering valuable and cultural historical objects. Along this way, his wife and friends helped him too much to help him build a house that we see now, enjoy it and honour having it. Now that we steps to this valuable home , apart from architecture and valuables inside it, we meet a man who loved his country and spent all his life to discover the secrets of his native land.
Archaeologist and the mayor's home
It was 115 years ago, Tehran was the capital of a young and gradually began to develop. In a luxurious and newly built house in Imam Khomeini (RA) street of today, a son was born that lately became one of the most influential figures for Iranian culture. Also, it was Nase Al Din Shah and Mozafar Al Din Shah who later became known as the known courtiers and gained the position of Ministry of Iran in Switzerland. Since childhood, Mohsen was interested in painting and for this thought in the school of "Kamal Al Mulk" and also thought painting in Switzerland in his childhood. Despite of interest in this science he finally continued his study in field of archeology. Mohsen Mogadam in field of archeology in Louvre of Paris was trained and graduated with honors and during his presence in Europe as a cultural representative attended. But, was not satisfied by staying in the west and in 1315 by his wife, Salma, returned Iran and were settled in paternal house of Dr Mogadam. So, the story of Mogadam house begins from here ; that’s why, when Mohsen Mogadam settles there to begin his works. Mohsen Mogadam one year after admission to Iran began to do his archeological activities in Iran Museum and for a time was monitored by the government. He, in 1961, represented a group in order to prepare an archeological map. Mogadam is from the first Iranian archeologists that worked in the most important areas like Shush and Dilman. He is also the first Iranian figure gained the rank Legion De Honor" from the French president of that time. He was from the original founders of Faculty of Fine Arts and designed the sign of Tehran University with inspiration from ancient history and culture of Iran. The distinguished Professor of Tehran University, after years of living and refurbishing of family home, in 1972 devoted house with all the works that was collected over time in Iran and for public Tehran University was dedicated to the productivity of the general public to remain as a memorial for future generations. The house management till 1987 when Mohsen Mogadam died was done by him. After Mogadam death, his wife managed the house for three years and then later on she gave it directly to Tehran university. Ultimately, in 2009 after years of repair, the door of the house was opened on the public. Dr Mogadam and Salma who also was an expert in the field of art and was library staff and the National Museum of Iran, never had a child however; they concentrated on other works and changed it to a museum to fix valuable works from different parts of Iran to maintains Iranian cultural monuments. Now the house with the beautiful architecture is not the only house left over from Mayor Nasereddin Shah but, a child remained of M. Mogadam.

Qajar porch and the pool of Spain
Here is the courtyard outside the front porch with a view of the Qajar and pool complex, the outside the house, including cold room, living room, master building, greenhouse, porch and qajar's Pool . Qajar's porch by Mogadam's initiative has been built based on the several column and arch and carpeted by tile. The Pool is either taken from the architecture of red palace that Mogadam had visited in travel to Spain in '30s. Imam Khomeini (RA) Square is one of the most historical parts of Iran; a square in the north of Tehran Market and around Ark where have been the place Qajar kings lived there. A House at No. 249 on Imam Khomeini street, between the streets of Sheikh Hadi and Vali Asr that with 2 thousand and 117 square meters regarded as the most important houses left by the Qajar era in Tehran. A House with beautiful and wonderful architecture that will amaze every visitor's eyes and When entering this house, in accordance with Persian rules you pass the vestibule that now in this part there is a room for your delivery of your equipment. Young Mogadam who had married a girl from West land first wife and had returned Iran altogether lived in a room on the north side of the building. Later, with changing circumstances, they make room into a greenhouse and with their own tastes adorned it with a variety of plants and flowers. Entering the house, on the one hand, the juxtaposition of Eastern and Western architecture together, the colorful walls full of tiles will fascinate the viewers. In the halls and rooms of the mansion, by visiting historical sites and ancient art from different parts of Iran you can get familiar with work value or thoughts of professor of archeology and his wife. In the halls of the mansion there are books and artifacts from the fifth millennium BC to the Qajar era. Textile Treasury is a collection dating back to Achaemenianed era also is regarded as another wonderful museum of the master that is now maintained frozen in the complex and just one of them left in the glass to the public . The house is built of tree outward, inward and janitorial and outward and inward parts of the mansion each dedicated an empty part to itself.
In the outward yard of the mansion these parts exist. The front room at time of Mogadam yard as the spare room of helping salon has been used but at the present time part of this room is dedicated to introducing practical and scientific activities, images and private materials and its another part is dedicated to showing wooden ornamental works, kitchen tools and cash desk of old houses. Spring house in the basement of the architecture in the era of Mozafari at the same time with the construction of houses by Ehtesab Al Mamalek has been built and its internal ornamentations by Dr Mogadam clay dishes which indicates the development of industry in Iran.
Valuable home
The museum's library is one of the most important parts of the house-museum of Mogadam where the workshop or atelier of Moghaddam existed. This room built in 1958, now reconstructed into museum library that his books and other books of archeology, is used for the public.
Important place for knowledge transfer
Aristocratic Building or home tower in 1345, and with the help of doctor Abolqasemi, by a students of the professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Tehran University, in the form of Qazvin castles built in the Middle Europe has been constructed. The Unique collections of stamps, shells, pipe and hookah that Mogadam prepared all of them by his personal interest over time and visiting them is so favorable. The home of Ivan Qajar, on the initiative of M. Mogadam based on multiple columns and arch has been built all over of its walls decorated by tiles of Zand and Qajar periods. In the middle of this unique and beautiful patio, a small marble pond belonging to the bathroom of Fath Ali Shah is fitted and the water pours down the yard. The Pool of the area in 1335 during the visit of doctor Mogadam to Spain and from the pool and waterfront gardens of "Alhambra" has been modeled. The main motive of building this pool in the mansion was that in building of Alhambra palace the Iranian architecture was really benefited and Mogadam by this work tried to show this way of Iranian art, as well. Near the pool also inspiring by Japanese gardens, a beautifully designed garden was implemented. The modernity wall was built by Mohsen Mogadam and collaboration with engineer "Houshang Seihoun" instead of wall between the outer and inner of the mansion and to sign of Iranian educators to the industrial age. This wall have been designed and implemented of a number of spiral columns and arches with decorative tile similar to the basic pillars of Isfahan Chehel palace. Dr Mogadam transferred these pillars at the time of war destruction to this area. In the inner courtyard also these parts exist; the basement that in the years away included the bathroom and was Home Depot and now, regarded as the treasury historical works of the museum has been used. Ivan that has existed in the facades of the Qajar room or winter hall still has retained its old forms and its decoration with Master by Tiles of Koubache (multicolor Safavi), mirroring of Zand , Qajar and Pahlavi and Qajar mosaic tiles and bricks have been made. Room of Qajar or Winter rooms with valuable works of Zand dynasty and the Qajar including niche bed of Zand from Isfahan and a fireplace of the Turquoise Palace, the palace of Firoozeh has been adorned. In this hall also the painting that Nasser Al Din Shah has gifted is also hung on the wall. The living room which has been as the main living area of the Master and his wife and the paintings of the master displayed there , as well. The Inner courtyard inspired by the professor and his wife with beautiful Iranian courtyards and gardens and the has been designed and implemented as a pond in the middle of the surrounding gardens. The caretaker part firstly has been as the kitchen and location of employees and janitors and now the official activities is done. This unique home that constructed by Persian expert, Professor Arthur Poup, and in 2000, is recorded as the most expensive homes of the world by the number of 2929 in the national listed works.

Oyster room
We can see the superb collection of shells, coral and etc that collected by M. Moghadam during his lifetime in one of the rooms of the house ; a room that is known as oyster room and Mohsen , himself, has arranged it with his personal taste.

Medieval tower
You see Manor building or tower houses in this picture. This part of the house, in 1966 with the help of Dr Abolqasemi, the student of M. Moghadam similar to architecture of medieval Europe style has been built. The Interesting point of Mogadam house is architectural fusion of East and West, and this is indicative of a dynamic mind.

Pool house of Mozaffari
The pool house is one of the most viewing parts of the house. M. Mogadam after returning to Iran and staying in this house, added lot of parts to this house as well as new decorations to suit his taste. But that spring house that is a memoir of the period of Mozafar at the same time by building home by father Mohsen Khan was restored and adorned by tiles and valuable rockeries.
The yard and Iranian Garden
Here's the inner courtyard of the house with the prospect of winter entrance to the room and on its left is the basement that Inner yard of the house inspired by the Iranian pleasant gardens with pool in the middle of it. In days of old, basement, bathroom and household water storage, which now has become a treasure museum.

The biography of Mogadam
In a room of the house of Mogadam, the set of his personal photos during his career period and his life has been installed on the wall so that the viewers get familiar with scientific personality as well as field researches. M. Mogadam, for years, was engaged in archaeological research and exploration in Iran and delivered many students to the national archeological community of Iran.

After getting off at Hassanabad station, Imam Khomeini Street (RA) go Westward and after Sheikh Hadi street, next to Mellat Bank No. 249, Home of Mogadam Museum will be waiting for you.
Visiting hours of the museum house, every day except Fridays and public holidays from 9 am to 4:30 pm will be open to the public
