Procedure
First, slice the onions and fry in a pot.Then add stewing meat and saute along with onions. Wash the split peas properly and add into the pot along with tomato paste and some water. If desired, you can also add the stewing prunes at this stage. Cut quinces in wedges and then cut the wedges in half. since quinces are easily cooked, you should add them in the last half hour or they will be crushed. Season to taste with salt, black pepper and cinnamon. If you want to make a sweet-sour stew, you can add in a little sugar and a few drops of lemon juice.Allow the stew o simmer for a couple of minutes and it is ready to serve.
