Leaving Medina and moving toward Mecca by Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)

When Imam Hasan (peace be upon him) passed away, the Shias of Iraq wrote a letter to Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and mentioned that they would dismiss Moavie and swear allegiance with him. Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) refused to do it and answered in such a way '' there is an allegiance between me and Moavie and it is not appropriate to break it until its due time. After Moavie passes away, I will decide about it''.
After Moavie appointed his son, Yazid, as his successor, he passed away in the second half of Rajab Month in 60 Heijrat. In such time, the governor of Medina was Valid Bin Atabe Bin Abi Sofyan. The government of Mecca was under the control of Umarv Bin Saeid Bin As. Naman Bin Boshir Ansari was a governor in Kufa and Ubeidullah Bin Ziyad in Basra. Yazid wrote a letter to his cousin, Valid Bin Atabe, that was the guardian of Medina by Moavie and sent it to him through the servant of Moavie named Ibn Abi Zarigh. It had been said in the letter that he was supposed to have all of people swear allegiance with him. Especially he recommended that he had Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) swear allegiance with him. He had also said '' never let him use any chances. If he accepts it, we have achieved to our goal; otherwise, cut his head from his body and send it to me''. Moavie had said to Yazid before his death '' avoid facing to four persons''. One of them was Hussein Bin Ali. Valid sent a person to Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) at night and summoned him. As soon as Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) got informed of the story, he moved with some of his relatives that were around thirty persons. They ordered them to pick up their weapons and said '' Valid has summoned me and I am worried that he had me do an action that I cannot accept to do. It is difficult for me to get rid of Valid. Therefore, accompany me and sit beside the house of Valid. When you hear my shout, assault toward him in order to defend me. Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) entered the house of Valid. Marvan Bin Hakam had sat beside Valid as well. First of all, Marvan informed Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) of the remarks of Moavie. Imam Hussein (peace be upon him'' stated ''
Then he recited the letter of Yazid and the letter for getting اناللهواناالیهراجعون
Allegiance from him for Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) decided to refuse to answer his request and to end this discussion in a friendly way and leave there. Hence, he said to Valid '' I am sure that you will not be convinced of my swearing allegiance secretly and you will say that I should swear allegiance with Yazid in the public. Valid said '' yes, it is right''. Then Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) stated '' wait until the dawn and if you would like, think about it''. Valid accepted it and said '' in the name of God! Come back and come to me with a group of people tomorrow. As soon as Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) left the house of Valid, Marvan looked at Valid and said '' I swear God that if Imam Hussein leaves you and does not swear allegiance with Yazid, you can never see him again. Once more you see him, there will be a duel war between you and him. You had better imprison him. He should swear allegiance with him or you cut his neck''. As soon as Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) heard these remarks from a cruel person like Marvan when he was terribly angry, he shouted out '' I will never swear allegiance with Yazid. He stood up and said to Marvan '' woe you, o' the son of Zargha! You are threatening me to death. I swear God that you told a lie and said false remarks. Then he said to Valid '' O' the leader! We are the family of prophesy and divine mission. Angels descend on the earth through our dynasty and God started Islam from our dynasty and the end of the divine mission is from our dynasty. Yazid is an adulterous man and drinks wine a lot. He has murdered a lot of persons and has committed adultery and tyranny clearly. Hence, a person like me will never swear allegiance with a person like him. We had better review this affair in the future and it will turn out which one of us will be qualified for leadership, caliphate and allegiance. After Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) expressed these remarks, he left there.
Valid sent some of persons to Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) at the end of Saturday Day so that they summoned him in order to swear allegiance with Yazid. Next day when night arrived, he left Medina in order to move toward Mecca. Some have said '' next day he left Medina in the morning''. However, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) moved toward Mecca in the night of the twenty eighth of Sunday of Rajab. Muhammad Bin Hanife got informed that Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) left Medina, but he did not know where he wanted to go. Then he looked at Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and said '' O' brother! You are the most beloved and the dearest persons in me. I never avoid advising others; especially I advise you that are qualified for. You are my brother and we are from a family. You are the soul, life, the light of our eyes and a great person in our dynasty. It is necessary for us to obey you because God has created us superior and better than us and has appointed him as the master and the heaven youth. O' brother! I advise you not to swear allegiance with Yazid and get away from the cities that are under his control as much as possible. Send some agents toward people and want them to accept to swear allegiance with you. After they swear allegiance with you, you should thank God and if they disobey you, there will be no harm to your religion and wisdom and your fairness and superiority will not get away. If you enter one of these cities, I am worried that disagreement will be among people. A group will support you and the other group will stand against you and there will be war among you. Therefore, you will be killed and the blood of the best persons of this nation and the rank of family will be spoilt and you family will be behaved dishonorably.
Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) stated '' where should I go? ''
Muhammad Hanife said '' you had better enter Mecca. When you make sure that it is a safe place, you had better reside there. And if you find out that the people of the city are unfaithful, move toward Yemen. There is no question that the people of Yemen are the companions of your father and grandfather and they are soft-hearted and affectionate and a wide land is under their control. If you do not feel safe there, move from a city to another city through the desert and the mountains in order to consider the condition of the people and God judges among you and tyrants. I hope you choose the best way in this affair.
Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) stated '' If I do not find any shelters in this world, I will not swear allegiance with Yazid''.
In such time, as the drops of tears were flowing from the eyes of Muhammad Hanife, he interrupted the remarks of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). Imam Hussein started crying as well and both of them started crying for a while. Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) added '' O' brother! God rewards you. You were sympathetic and benevolent toward me in a right way. I hope your idea is the firmest and the most successful. Now I have decided to move toward Mecca. My brothers, the children of my brothers and a group are preparing to travel because they share the same ideas and their idea is my idea. Your duty is to reside in Medina, to report all of affairs and keep me informed of necessary information without concealing them.
As soon as the wives of Bani Abd Al-Motaleb knew that Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) wanted to leave Medina, circled him and started crying. Then Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) came among them and said to them '' I swear you to God that you do not cry because God and his messenger will not be satisfied of this. The women said to the prophet '' when should we cry and mourn?'' in our opinion, this is the same day that the messenger of God (peace of Allah be upon him and his descendants), Imam Ali (peace be upon him), Hazrat Fateme (peace be upon her), Imam Hasan (peace be upon him), Roghaye, Zeinab and Um Kolthum passed away. God sacrifices our life for your life; O' the person that is loved by good persons and the Muslims. Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) got ready to leave Medina. At first he went to the grave of his dear mother and said goodbye to her. Afterwards, he went to the tomb of his brother, Imam Hasan (peace be upon him) said goodbye to him as well. Apart from Muhammad Bin Hanife and Abdullah Bin Jafar, the children of his brothers, brothers and all people of Ahle Beit left Medina along with Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in this journey. Therefore, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) left Medina at night as he was reciting this verse
فخرج منها خائفا یترقب قالرب نجنی من القوم الظالمین
