Once upon a time…, there was no one other than God. In ancient times there was a person who spent all he earned for his stomach and yet he remained hungry. He did not know what to do with such a bottomless stomach he had. One day he went to te elder of the city and told him completely his problem and asked him what he should do to get rid of that stomach which knew no satiety. The elder asked him to go and find a legit eater human and become his pupil in order that legit money went to his pocket, and so his work would become well.
This poor man began searching such a person in street and market. Eventually they said him that he had to go to certain sheep owner, who was a legit eater person. He did not hesitate and went and found the sheep owner and asked him to accept that he worked for him in order that he was able to make his stomach satiate. The sheep owner said him: "God give you aliment somewhere else. The ram of one of the neighbors has come to my flock and so lawful and unlawful of my property had been mixed. You should went to Sabzevar to my brother. His property is quite lawful."
The man who had used to search always went to Sabzevar and found the brother of the sheep owner and said him he had come to earn lawful property, and that he had come from Neyshabour ordered by his brother. Sabzevarian drover asked him if the property of his brother had become unlawful. The man answered that he said the ram of one of his neighbors had come to his flock and no longer he could distinguish between lawful and unlawful of his property. Sabzevarian drover also disappointed him by saying that he had come late here too, since his worker had gone to take water for his farm and so picked up some soil from the ground of his neighbor' farm and put it in front of the water, and now he knew which part of his property was lawful and which part was unlawful.
The man did not know what to do. Sabzevarian drover said him to go to Mashhad to his brother who was copper seller there and disliked the unlawful. The man hopefully went to Mashhad to see what would happen. He moved and went toward Mashhad. When he reached there and found the copper seller, he told him all his story and swore him not to tell that his property had become unlawful. The copper seller said that this was not the case and his property was quite lawful, but his business was not good and he could give him only one Rial as his wage every year. The poor man accepted and began his work and was satisfied to the bread the master gave him every day. He remained one year at the copper owner.
At the beginning of the second year, he was passing through the market that he saw one of his co-villagers who greeted him warmly. He asked him about the wife and children of himself, and asked when he was going to return to the village, and he answered the next day he would go. The man went to the copper seller master and took him his one Rial wage and gave it at the next day to his friend and wanted him to give it to his wife and children. The trader took one Rial and went. But he saw in the market a boy holding a cat and saying he was going to sell it as much as one Rial on sale. The trader accounted with himself that one Rial was not sufficient for livelihood of the family of his friend, and it was better that he bought this cat with this one Rial in order that his friend's children could play with it at least. So, he gave that one Rial and bought that cat and put it inside a the bag he was carrying and went. The caravan he was in it went and went until it reached where they saw an important person was sitting and eating bread and water and a few people were standing around him who held stick in hand. He was surprised and asked why they were standing so. He was answered there were so many mouse that no one could easily eat bread from their trouble. When the trader heard this matter said he had something that could ward the mouse off. Standing persons went aside and a huge number of mouse went toward the person who was eating bread. The trader made the cat free toward the mouse. Then the frightened mouse escaped and each went into a hole. That important person realized the importance of cat and so bought the cat for one hundred Toomans (equal to one thousand Rials).
The trader took that money in his pocket and went. When he arrived at his village went to his friend's home and gave that one hundred Toomans to the wife and children of his friend and said to them that the money was sent from his friend in order that they used it to remove their problems in life.
On the other hand that same man, who was no longer hungry, worked one year more and earned another one Rial as his wage. At the beginning of the third year, he again saw the same trader in the market and gave him the one Rial and asked him to take it for his wife and children. The trader took the one Rial and went to the market and saw somewhere they were selling three pomegranates for one Rial. The trader accounted with himself that one Rial was not sufficient for livelihood of the family of his friend, and it was better that he bought the pomegranates for them to taste fruit at least one time. He bought the three pomegranates and put them in his bag and returned to his village. He went to his friend's home and gave the pomegranates to his family and said those were from children's father for them. The wife broke one of the pomegranates to eat, but it was full of gemstones instead of pomegranate seeds. She took one of the gemstones and took it to the jewelry shop. The jeweler said her he had no sufficient money to buy it and she could take half of its price now and the other half at the next week. He gave her several bags of gold money. The wife who had lived so long in poverty, now returned back home very happily. She took builders and worker the same day and destroyed her house and instead of that ruined house she built a very suitable mansion. In this manner they became rich.
The trader at the beginning of the year went again to Mashhad and saw his co-villager again. That man who was worry only for his wife and children went to the copper seller master and wanted him to give his one Rial wage to him since he missed his family and wanted to go to his village to see his poor family. The master gave him his wage and said: "Good bye! But when you went back to your home, whenever you wanted to work anything tell three times: "There is no god but only God"." The man accepted and returned to his village. When he arrived there saw there didn't exist his ruined house and instead of it there existed a wonderful mansion. He went into it and saw his wife and his other were slept and two beautiful young men were also between them. He took his dagger and intended to kill all of them but suddenly remembered the order of his master and read three times: "There is no god but only God". Then he went to the yard and walked here and there to become calm. But again he got angry and while holding dagger went at them and as soon as he read "There is no god but only God", his wife woke up and called her husband's mother and her sons and said them that thief had come in. When the man heard the name of his sons and recognized those two young men as his sons thanked God that his hand had not become stained with the blood of them.
Our story ended, but the lame crow didn't reach to its home.
