2. From the wrist up to the top of the fingers of hand
Quran states
یَا أَیُّهَا الَّذِینَ آمَنُوا إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَاغْسِلُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ وَأَیْدِیَكُمْ إِلَى الْمَرَافِقِ وَامْسَحُوا بِرُءُوسِكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ إِلَى الْكَعْبَیْنِ ۚ وَإِن كُنتُمْ جُنُبًا فَاطَّهَّرُوا ۚ وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرْضَىٰ أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ أَوْ جَاءَ أَحَدٌ مِّنكُم مِّنَ الْغَائِطِ أَوْ لَامَسْتُمُ النِّسَاءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوا مَاءً فَتَیَمَّمُوا صَعِیدًا طَیِّبًا فَامْسَحُوا بِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَأَیْدِیكُم مِّنْهُ ۚ مَا یُرِیدُ اللَّهُ لِیَجْعَلَ عَلَیْكُم مِّنْ حَرَجٍ وَلَٰكِن یُرِیدُ لِیُطَهِّرَكُمْ وَلِیُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُ عَلَیْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
O ye who believe! when ye prepare for prayer, wash your faces, and your hands (and arms) to the elbows; Rub your heads (with water); and (wash) your feet to the ankles. If ye are in a state of ceremonial impurity, bathe your whole body. But if ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands, Allah doth not wish to place you in a difficulty, but to make you clean, and to complete his favor to you, that ye may be grateful.
یَا أَیُّهَا الَّذِینَ آمَنُوا لَا تَقْرَبُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَأَنتُمْ سُكَارَىٰ حَتَّىٰ تَعْلَمُوا مَا تَقُولُونَ وَلَا جُنُبًا إِلَّا عَابِرِی سَبِیلٍ حَتَّىٰ تَغْتَسِلُوا ۚ وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرْضَىٰ أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ أَوْ جَاءَ أَحَدٌ مِّنكُم مِّنَ الْغَائِطِ أَوْ لَامَسْتُمُ النِّسَاءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوا مَاءً فَتَیَمَّمُوا صَعِیدًا طَیِّبًا فَامْسَحُوا بِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَأَیْدِیكُمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَفُوًّا غَفُورًا
O ye who believe! Approach not prayers with a mind befogged, until ye can understand all that ye say,- nor in a state of ceremonial impurity (Except when travelling on the road), until after washing your whole body. If ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands. For Allah doth blot out sins and forgive again and again.
4. Four fingers of a hand
Quran states
وَالسَّارِقُ وَالسَّارِقَةُ فَاقْطَعُوا أَیْدِیَهُمَا جَزَاءً بِمَا كَسَبَا نَكَالًا مِّنَ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَزِیزٌ حَكِیمٌ
As to the thief, Male or female, cut off his or her hands: a punishment by way of example, from Allah, for their crime: and Allah is Exalted in power.
وَأَنَّ الْمَسَاجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا مَعَ اللَّهِ أَحَدًا
And the places of worship are for Allah (alone): So invoke not any one along with Allah.
إِنَّمَا جَزَاءُ الَّذِینَ یُحَارِبُونَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَیَسْعَوْنَ فِی الْأَرْضِ فَسَادًا أَن یُقَتَّلُوا أَوْ یُصَلَّبُوا أَوْ تُقَطَّعَ أَیْدِیهِمْ وَأَرْجُلُهُم مِّنْ خِلَافٍ أَوْ یُنفَوْا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لَهُمْ خِزْیٌ فِی الدُّنْیَا ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِی الْآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِیمٌ
The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter.
فَوَیْلٌ لِّلَّذِینَ یَكْتُبُونَ الْكِتَابَ بِأَیْدِیهِمْ ثُمَّ یَقُولُونَ هَٰذَا مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ لِیَشْتَرُوا بِهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِیلًا ۖ فَوَیْلٌ لَّهُم مِّمَّا كَتَبَتْ أَیْدِیهِمْ وَوَیْلٌ لَّهُم مِّمَّا یَكْسِبُونَ
Then woe to those who write the Book with their own hands, and then say:"This is from Allah," to traffic with it for miserable price!- Woe to them for what their hands do write, and for the gain they make thereby.
4. Guardianship
Quran states
وَإِن طَلَّقْتُمُوهُنَّ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَمَسُّوهُنَّ وَقَدْ فَرَضْتُمْ لَهُنَّ فَرِیضَةً فَنِصْفُ مَا فَرَضْتُمْ إِلَّا أَن یَعْفُونَ أَوْ یَعْفُوَ الَّذِی بِیَدِهِ عُقْدَةُ النِّكَاحِ ۚ وَأَن تَعْفُوا أَقْرَبُ لِلتَّقْوَىٰ ۚ وَلَا تَنسَوُا الْفَضْلَ بَیْنَكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِیرٌ
And if ye divorce them before consummation, but after the fixation of a dower for them, then the half of the dower (Is due to them), unless they remit it or (the man´s half) is remitted by him in whose hands is the marriage tie; and the remission (of the man´s half) is the nearest to righteousness. And do not forget Liberality between yourselves. For Allah sees well all that ye do.
5. Stinginess
Quran states
وَقَالَتِ الْیَهُودُ یَدُ اللَّهِ مَغْلُولَةٌ ۚ غُلَّتْ أَیْدِیهِمْ وَلُعِنُوا بِمَا قَالُوا ۘ بَلْ یَدَاهُ مَبْسُوطَتَانِ یُنفِقُ كَیْفَ یَشَاءُ ۚ وَلَیَزِیدَنَّ كَثِیرًا مِّنْهُم مَّا أُنزِلَ إِلَیْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغْیَانًا وَكُفْرًا ۚ وَأَلْقَیْنَا بَیْنَهُمُ الْعَدَاوَةَ وَالْبَغْضَاءَ إِلَىٰ یَوْمِ الْقِیَامَةِ ۚ كُلَّمَا أَوْقَدُوا نَارًا لِّلْحَرْبِ أَطْفَأَهَا اللَّهُ ۚ وَیَسْعَوْنَ فِی الْأَرْضِ فَسَادًا ۚ وَاللَّهُ لَا یُحِبُّ الْمُفْسِدِینَ
The Jews say: "Allah´s hand is tied up." Be their hands tied up and be they accursed for the (blasphemy) they utter. Nay, both His hands are widely outstretched: He giveth and spendeth (of His bounty) as He pleaseth. But the revelation that cometh to thee from Allah increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. Amongst them we have placed enmity and hatred till the Day of Judgment. Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief on earth. And Allah loveth not those who do mischief.
Exalted God states to the messenger of God (peace of Allah be upon him and his descendants)
وَلَا تَجْعَلْ یَدَكَ مَغْلُولَةً إِلَىٰ عُنُقِكَ وَلَا تَبْسُطْهَا كُلَّ الْبَسْطِ فَتَقْعُدَ مَلُومًا مَّحْسُورًا
Make not thy hand tied (like a niggard´s) to thy neck, nor stretch it forth to its utmost reach, so that thou become blameworthy and destitute.
6. Power
Quran states
قَالَ یَا إِبْلِیسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِیَدَیَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ الْعَالِینَ
(Allah) said: "O Iblis! What prevents thee from prostrating thyself to one whom I have created with my hands? Art thou haughty? Or art thou one of the high (and mighty) ones.
اصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا یَقُولُونَ وَاذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا دَاوُودَ ذَا الْأَیْدِ ۖ إِنَّهُ أَوَّابٌ
Have patience at what they say, and remember our servant David, the man of strength: for he ever turned (to Allah).
وَالسَّمَاءَ بَنَیْنَاهَا بِأَیْدٍ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ
With power and skill did We construct the Firmament: for it is We Who create the vastness of pace.
7. In the front of and presence
Quran states
نَزَّلَ عَلَیْكَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَیْنَ یَدَیْهِ وَأَنزَلَ التَّوْرَاةَ وَالْإِنجِیلَ
It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong.
مِّنَ الَّذِینَ هَادُوا یُحَرِّفُونَ الْكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِ وَیَقُولُونَ سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَیْنَا وَاسْمَعْ غَیْرَ مُسْمَعٍ وَرَاعِنَا لَیًّا بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ وَطَعْنًا فِی الدِّینِ ۚ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا وَاسْمَعْ وَانظُرْنَا لَكَانَ خَیْرًا لَّهُمْ وَأَقْوَمَ وَلَٰكِن لَّعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا یُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِیلًا
Of the Jews there are those who displace words from their (right) places, and say: "We hear and we disobey"; and "Hear what is not Heard"; and "Ra´ina"; with a twist of their tongues and a slander to Faith. If only they had said: "What hear and we obey"; and "Do hear"; and "Do look at us"; it would have been better for them, and more proper; but Allah hath cursed them for their Unbelief; and but few of them will believe.
فَبِمَا نَقْضِهِم مِّیثَاقَهُمْ لَعَنَّاهُمْ وَجَعَلْنَا قُلُوبَهُمْ قَاسِیَةً ۖ یُحَرِّفُونَ الْكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِ ۙ وَنَسُوا حَظًّا مِّمَّا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ ۚ وَلَا تَزَالُ تَطَّلِعُ عَلَىٰ خَائِنَةٍ مِّنْهُمْ إِلَّا قَلِیلًا مِّنْهُمْ ۖ فَاعْفُ عَنْهُمْ وَاصْفَحْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ یُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِینَ
But because of their breach of their covenant, We cursed them, and made their hearts grow hard; they change the words from their (right) places and forget a good part of the message that was sent them, nor wilt thou cease to find them- barring a few - ever bent on (new) deceits: but forgive them, and overlook (their misdeeds): for Allah loveth those who are kind.
فَوَیْلٌ لِّلَّذِینَ یَكْتُبُونَ الْكِتَابَ بِأَیْدِیهِمْ ثُمَّ یَقُولُونَ هَٰذَا مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ لِیَشْتَرُوا بِهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِیلًا ۖ فَوَیْلٌ لَّهُم مِّمَّا كَتَبَتْ أَیْدِیهِمْ وَوَیْلٌ لَّهُم مِّمَّا یَكْسِبُونَ
Then woe to those who write the Book with their own hands, and then say:"This is from Allah," to traffic with it for miserable price!- Woe to them for what their hands do write, and for the gain they make thereby.
لَّا یَأْتِیهِ الْبَاطِلُ مِن بَیْنِ یَدَیْهِ وَلَا مِنْ خَلْفِهِ ۖ تَنزِیلٌ مِّنْ حَكِیمٍ حَمِیدٍ
No falsehood can approach it from before or behind it: It is sent down by One Full of Wisdom, Worthy of all Praise.
7. Actions
Quran states
لَّقَدْ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ قَوْلَ الَّذِینَ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ فَقِیرٌ وَنَحْنُ أَغْنِیَاءُ ۘ سَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَالُوا وَقَتْلَهُمُ الْأَنبِیَاءَ بِغَیْرِ حَقٍّ وَنَقُولُ ذُوقُوا عَذَابَ الْحَرِیقِ
Allah hath heard the taunt of those who say: "Truly, Allah is indigent and we are rich!"- We shall certainly record their word and (their act) of slaying the prophets in defiance of right, and We shall say: "Taste ye the penalty of the Scorching Fire.
ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَیْدِیكُمْ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ لَیْسَ بِظَلَّامٍ لِّلْعَبِیدِ
This is because of the (unrighteous deeds) which your hands sent on before ye: For Allah never harms those who serve Him.
8. Treaty
Quran states
مَّن یُطِعِ الرَّسُولَ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ ۖ وَمَن تَوَلَّىٰ فَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ عَلَیْهِمْ حَفِیظًا
He who obeys the Messenger, obeys Allah: But if any turn away, We have not sent thee to watch over their (evil deeds).
فَلَمْ تَقْتُلُوهُمْ وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ قَتَلَهُمْ ۚ وَمَا رَمَیْتَ إِذْ رَمَیْتَ وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ رَمَىٰ ۚ وَلِیُبْلِیَ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ مِنْهُ بَلَاءً حَسَنًا ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَمِیعٌ عَلِیمٌ
It is not ye who slew them; it was Allah: when thou threwest (a handful of dust), it was not thy act, but Allah´s: in order that He might test the Believers by a gracious trial from Himself: for Allah is He Who heareth and knoweth (all things).
إِنَّ الَّذِینَ یُبَایِعُونَكَ إِنَّمَا یُبَایِعُونَ اللَّهَ یَدُ اللَّهِ فَوْقَ أَیْدِیهِمْ ۚ فَمَن نَّكَثَ فَإِنَّمَا یَنكُثُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ ۖ وَمَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِمَا عَاهَدَ عَلَیْهُ اللَّهَ فَسَیُؤْتِیهِ أَجْرًا عَظِیمًا
Verily those who plight their fealty to thee do no less than plight their fealty to Allah: the Hand of Allah is over their hands: then any one who violates his oath, does so to the harm of his own soul, and any one who fulfils what he has covenanted with Allah,- Allah will soon grant him a great Reward.
هُمُ الَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا وَصَدُّوكُمْ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَالْهَدْیَ مَعْكُوفًا أَن یَبْلُغَ مَحِلَّهُ ۚ وَلَوْلَا رِجَالٌ مُّؤْمِنُونَ وَنِسَاءٌ مُّؤْمِنَاتٌ لَّمْ تَعْلَمُوهُمْ أَن تَطَئُوهُمْ فَتُصِیبَكُم مِّنْهُم مَّعَرَّةٌ بِغَیْرِ عِلْمٍ ۖ لِّیُدْخِلَ اللَّهُ فِی رَحْمَتِهِ مَن یَشَاءُ ۚ لَوْ تَزَیَّلُوا لَعَذَّبْنَا الَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا مِنْهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِیمًا
They are the ones who denied Revelation and hindered you from the Sacred Mosque and the sacrificial animals, detained from reaching their place of sacrifice. Had there not been believing men and believing women whom ye did not know that ye were trampling down and on whose account a crime would have accrued to you without (your) knowledge, (Allah would have allowed you to force your way, but He held back your hands) that He may admit to His Mercy whom He will. If they had been apart, We should certainly have punished the Unbelievers among them with a grievous Punishment.
إِذْ جَعَلَ الَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا فِی قُلُوبِهِمُ الْحَمِیَّةَ حَمِیَّةَ الْجَاهِلِیَّةِ فَأَنزَلَ اللَّهُ سَكِینَتَهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِ وَعَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِینَ وَأَلْزَمَهُمْ كَلِمَةَ التَّقْوَىٰ وَكَانُوا أَحَقَّ بِهَا وَأَهْلَهَا ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَیْءٍ عَلِیمًا
While the Unbelievers got up in their hearts heat and cant - the heat and cant of ignorance,- Allah sent down His Tranquillity to his Messenger and to the Believers, and made them stick close to the command of self-restraint; and well were they entitled to it and worthy of it. And Allah has full knowledge of all things.
