The word ''jenah'' in Quran

Quran states
وَإِن جَنَحُوا لِلسَّلْمِ فَاجْنَحْ لَهَا وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِیعُ الْعَلِیمُ
But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah: for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things).
The uses of the word''jenah'' in Quran
1. The wing of birds
Quran states
وَمَا مِن دَابَّةٍ فِی الْأَرْضِ وَلَا طَائِرٍ یَطِیرُ بِجَنَاحَیْهِ إِلَّا أُمَمٌ أَمْثَالُكُم ۚ مَّا فَرَّطْنَا فِی الْكِتَابِ مِن شَیْءٍ ۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ یُحْشَرُونَ
There is not an animal (that lives) on the earth, nor a being that flies on its wings, but (forms part of) communities like you. Nothing have we omitted from the Book, and they (all) shall be gathered to their Lord in the end.
وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ قَالَ أُوحِیَ إِلَیَّ وَلَمْ یُوحَ إِلَیْهِ شَیْءٌ وَمَن قَالَ سَأُنزِلُ مِثْلَ مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ ۗ وَلَوْ تَرَىٰ إِذِ الظَّالِمُونَ فِی غَمَرَاتِ الْمَوْتِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ بَاسِطُو أَیْدِیهِمْ أَخْرِجُوا أَنفُسَكُمُ ۖ الْیَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ عَذَابَ الْهُونِ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَقُولُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ غَیْرَ الْحَقِّ وَكُنتُمْ عَنْ آیَاتِهِ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
Who can be more wicked than one who inventeth a lie against Allah, or saith, "I have received inspiration," when he hath received none, or (again) who saith, "I can reveal the like of what Allah hath revealed"? If thou couldst but see how the wicked (do fare) in the flood of confusion at death! - the angels stretch forth their hands, (saying),"Yield up your souls: this day shall ye receive your reward,- a penalty of shame, for that ye used to tell lies against Allah, and scornfully to reject of His signs''.
وَلَقَدْ جِئْتُمُونَا فُرَادَىٰ كَمَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَتَرَكْتُم مَّا خَوَّلْنَاكُمْ وَرَاءَ ظُهُورِكُمْ ۖ وَمَا نَرَىٰ مَعَكُمْ شُفَعَاءَكُمُ الَّذِینَ زَعَمْتُمْ أَنَّهُمْ فِیكُمْ شُرَكَاءُ ۚ لَقَد تَّقَطَّعَ بَیْنَكُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنكُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ
And behold! ye come to us bare and alone as We created you for the first time: ye have left behind you all (the favours) which We bestowed on you: We see not with you your intercessors whom ye thought to be partners in your affairs: so now all relations between you have been cut off, and your (pet) fancies have left you in the lurch.
2. The wing of angles
Quran states
لْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ فَاطِرِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ جَاعِلِ الْمَلَائِكَةِ رُسُلًا أُولِی أَجْنِحَةٍ مَّثْنَىٰ وَثُلَاثَ وَرُبَاعَ ۚ یَزِیدُ فِی الْخَلْقِ مَا یَشَاءُ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیْءٍ قَدِیرٌ
Praise be to Allah, Who created (out of nothing) the heavens and the earth, Who made the angels, messengers with wings,- two, or three, or four (pairs): He adds to Creation as He pleases: for Allah has power over all things.
وَمَا یَسْتَوِی الْبَحْرَانِ هَٰذَا عَذْبٌ فُرَاتٌ سَائِغٌ شَرَابُهُ وَهَٰذَا مِلْحٌ أُجَاجٌ ۖ وَمِن كُلٍّ تَأْكُلُونَ لَحْمًا طَرِیًّا وَتَسْتَخْرِجُونَ حِلْیَةً تَلْبَسُونَهَا ۖ وَتَرَى الْفُلْكَ فِیهِ مَوَاخِرَ لِتَبْتَغُوا مِن فَضْلِهِ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
Nor are the two bodies of flowing water alike,- the one palatable, sweet, and pleasant to drink, and the other, salt and bitter. Yet from each (kind of water) do ye eat flesh fresh and tender, and ye extract ornaments to wear; and thou seest the ships therein that plough the waves, that ye may seek (thus) of the Bounty of Allah that ye may be grateful.
یُولِجُ اللَّیْلَ فِی النَّهَارِ وَیُولِجُ النَّهَارَ فِی اللَّیْلِ وَسَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ كُلٌّ یَجْرِی لِأَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ ۚ وَالَّذِینَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ مَا یَمْلِكُونَ مِن قِطْمِیرٍ
He merges Night into Day, and he merges Day into Night, and he has subjected the sun and the moon (to his Law): each one runs its course for a term appointed. Such is Allah your Lord: to Him belongs all Dominion. And those whom ye invoke besides Him have not the least power.
وَهُوَ الْقَاهِرُ فَوْقَ عِبَادِهِ ۖ وَیُرْسِلُ عَلَیْكُمْ حَفَظَةً حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ تَوَفَّتْهُ رُسُلُنَا وَهُمْ لَا یُفَرِّطُونَ
He is the irresistible, (watching) from above over His worshippers, and He sets guardians over you. At length, when death approaches one of you, Our angels take his soul, and they never fail in their duty.
وَذَرِ الَّذِینَ اتَّخَذُوا دِینَهُمْ لَعِبًا وَلَهْوًا وَغَرَّتْهُمُ الْحَیَاةُ الدُّنْیَا ۚ وَذَكِّرْ بِهِ أَن تُبْسَلَ نَفْسٌ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ لَیْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ وَلِیٌّ وَلَا شَفِیعٌ وَإِن تَعْدِلْ كُلَّ عَدْلٍ لَّا یُؤْخَذْ مِنْهَا ۗ أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِینَ أُبْسِلُوا بِمَا كَسَبُوا ۖ لَهُمْ شَرَابٌ مِّنْ حَمِیمٍ وَعَذَابٌ أَلِیمٌ بِمَا كَانُوا یَكْفُرُونَ
Leave alone those who take their religion to be mere play and amusement, and are deceived by the life of this world. But proclaim (to them) this (truth): that every soul delivers itself to ruin by its own acts: it will find for itself no protector or intercessor except Allah: if it offered every ransom, (or reparation), none will be accepted: such is (the end of) those who deliver themselves to ruin by their own acts: they will have for drink (only) boiling water, and for punishment, one most grievous: for they persisted in rejecting Allah.
وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ إِذْ قَالُوا مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ بَشَرٍ مِّن شَیْءٍ ۗ قُلْ مَنْ أَنزَلَ الْكِتَابَ الَّذِی جَاءَ بِهِ مُوسَىٰ نُورًا وَهُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ ۖ تَجْعَلُونَهُ قَرَاطِیسَ تُبْدُونَهَا وَتُخْفُونَ كَثِیرًا ۖ وَعُلِّمْتُم مَّا لَمْ تَعْلَمُوا أَنتُمْ وَلَا آبَاؤُكُمْ ۖ قُلِ اللَّهُ ۖ ثُمَّ ذَرْهُمْ فِی خَوْضِهِمْ یَلْعَبُونَ
No just estimate of Allah do they make when they say: "Nothing doth Allah send down to man (by way of revelation)" Say: "Who then sent down the Book which Moses brought?- a light and guidance to man: But ye make it into (separate) sheets for show, while ye conceal much (of its contents): therein were ye taught that which ye knew not- neither ye nor your fathers." Say: "Allah (sent it down)": Then leave them to plunge in vain discourse and trifling''.

وَإِذَا أَذَقْنَا النَّاسَ رَحْمَةً مِّن بَعْدِ ضَرَّاءَ مَسَّتْهُمْ إِذَا لَهُم مَّكْرٌ فِی آیَاتِنَا ۚ قُلِ اللَّهُ أَسْرَعُ مَكْرًا ۚ إِنَّ رُسُلَنَا یَكْتُبُونَ مَا تَمْكُرُونَ
When We make mankind taste of some mercy after adversity hath touched them, behold! they take to plotting against Our Signs! Say: "Swifter to plan is Allah!" Verily, Our messengers record all the plots that ye make''.
وَلَمَّا جَاءَتْ رُسُلُنَا إِبْرَاهِیمَ بِالْبُشْرَىٰ قَالُوا إِنَّا مُهْلِكُو أَهْلِ هَٰذِهِ الْقَرْیَةِ ۖ إِنَّ أَهْلَهَا كَانُوا ظَالِمِینَ
When Our Messengers came to Abraham with the good news, they said: "We are indeed going to destroy the people of this township: for truly they are (addicted to) crime.
إِذْ یُوحِی رَبُّكَ إِلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ أَنِّی مَعَكُمْ فَثَبِّتُوا الَّذِینَ آمَنُوا ۚ سَأُلْقِی فِی قُلُوبِ الَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا الرُّعْبَ فَاضْرِبُوا فَوْقَ الْأَعْنَاقِ وَاضْرِبُوا مِنْهُمْ كُلَّ بَنَانٍ
Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them''.
إِذْ أَنتُم بِالْعُدْوَةِ الدُّنْیَا وَهُم بِالْعُدْوَةِ الْقُصْوَىٰ وَالرَّكْبُ أَسْفَلَ مِنكُمْ ۚ وَلَوْ تَوَاعَدتُّمْ لَاخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِی الْمِیعَادِ ۙ وَلَٰكِن لِّیَقْضِیَ اللَّهُ أَمْرًا كَانَ مَفْعُولًا لِّیَهْلِكَ مَنْ هَلَكَ عَن بَیِّنَةٍ وَیَحْیَىٰ مَنْ حَیَّ عَن بَیِّنَةٍ ۗ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَسَمِیعٌ عَلِیمٌ
Remember ye were on the hither side of the valley, and they on the farther side, and the caravan on lower ground than ye. Even if ye had made a mutual appointment to meet, ye would certainly have failed in the appointment: But (thus ye met), that Allah might accomplish a matter already enacted; that those who died might die after a clear Sign (had been given), and those who lived might live after a Clear Sign (had been given). And verily Allah is He Who heareth and knoweth (all things).
وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُم مَّا اسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن قُوَّةٍ وَمِن رِّبَاطِ الْخَیْلِ تُرْهِبُونَ بِهِ عَدُوَّ اللَّهِ وَعَدُوَّكُمْ وَآخَرِینَ مِن دُونِهِمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَهُمُ اللَّهُ یَعْلَمُهُمْ ۚ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا مِن شَیْءٍ فِی سَبِیلِ اللَّهِ یُوَفَّ إِلَیْكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُونَ
Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly.
هُوَ الَّذِی یُسَیِّرُكُمْ فِی الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ ۖ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا كُنتُمْ فِی الْفُلْكِ وَجَرَیْنَ بِهِم بِرِیحٍ طَیِّبَةٍ وَفَرِحُوا بِهَا جَاءَتْهَا رِیحٌ عَاصِفٌ وَجَاءَهُمُ الْمَوْجُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٍ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ أُحِیطَ بِهِمْ ۙ دَعَوُا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِینَ لَهُ الدِّینَ لَئِنْ أَنجَیْتَنَا مِنْ هَٰذِهِ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الشَّاكِرِینَ
He it is Who enableth you to traverse through land and sea; so that ye even board ships;- they sail with them with a favourable wind, and they rejoice thereat; then comes a stormy wind and the waves come to them from all sides, and they think they are being overwhelmed: they cry unto Allah, sincerely offering (their) duty unto Him saying, "If thou dost deliver us from this, we shall truly show our gratitude.
3. Modesty
Quran states
وَاخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ الذُّلِّ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ وَقُل رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّیَانِی صَغِیرًا
And, out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: "My Lord! bestow on them thy Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood.
لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَیْنَیْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِ أَزْوَاجًا مِّنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَیْهِمْ وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِینَ
Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers.
اسْلُكْ یَدَكَ فِی جَیْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَیْضَاءَ مِنْ غَیْرِ سُوءٍ وَاضْمُمْ إِلَیْكَ جَنَاحَكَ مِنَ الرَّهْبِ ۖ فَذَانِكَ بُرْهَانَانِ مِن رَّبِّكَ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِینَ
Move thy hand into thy bosom, and it will come forth white without stain (or harm), and draw thy hand close to thy side (to guard) against fear. Those are the two credentials from thy Lord to Pharaoh and his Chiefs: for truly they are a people rebellious and wicked.
وَابْتَغِ فِیمَا آتَاكَ اللَّهُ الدَّارَ الْآخِرَةَ ۖ وَلَا تَنسَ نَصِیبَكَ مِنَ الدُّنْیَا ۖ وَأَحْسِن كَمَا أَحْسَنَ اللَّهُ إِلَیْكَ ۖ وَلَا تَبْغِ الْفَسَادَ فِی الْأَرْضِ ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا یُحِبُّ الْمُفْسِدِینَ
But seek, with the (wealth) which Allah has bestowed on thee, the Home of the Hereafter, nor forget thy portion in this world: but do thou good, as Allah has been good to thee, and seek not (occasions for) mischief in the land: for Allah loves not those who do mischief''.
قَالَ إِنَّمَا أُوتِیتُهُ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عِندِی ۚ أَوَلَمْ یَعْلَمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَهْلَكَ مِن قَبْلِهِ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ مَنْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُ قُوَّةً وَأَكْثَرُ جَمْعًا ۚ وَلَا یُسْأَلُ عَن ذُنُوبِهِمُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ
He said: "This has been given to me because of a certain knowledge which I have." Did he not know that Allah had destroyed, before him, (whole) generations,- which were superior to him in strength and greater in the amount (of riches) they had collected? but the wicked are not called (immediately) to account for their sins.
وَدَخَلَ الْمَدِینَةَ عَلَىٰ حِینِ غَفْلَةٍ مِّنْ أَهْلِهَا فَوَجَدَ فِیهَا رَجُلَیْنِ یَقْتَتِلَانِ هَٰذَا مِن شِیعَتِهِ وَهَٰذَا مِنْ عَدُوِّهِ ۖ فَاسْتَغَاثَهُ الَّذِی مِن شِیعَتِهِ عَلَى الَّذِی مِنْ عَدُوِّهِ فَوَكَزَهُ مُوسَىٰ فَقَضَىٰ عَلَیْهِ ۖ قَالَ هَٰذَا مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّیْطَانِ ۖ إِنَّهُ عَدُوٌّ مُّضِلٌّ مُّبِینٌ
And he entered the city at a time when its people were not watching: and he found there two men fighting,- one of his own religion, and the other, of his foes. Now the man of his own religion appealed to him against his foe, and Moses struck him with his fist and made an end of him. He said: "This is a work of Evil (Satan): for he is an enemy that manifestly misleads.
