Rig Jen desert is in the southwest and west of desert land. It is bounded from north to south of SEMNAN and southeast of GARMSAR and from the west to the Desert National Park and TANG ZOLAMAT area and from the east to the junction axis of JANDAGH-MOALEMAN and from the south to the north of ANARAK and CHUPANAN. RIG JEN with an area of 3,800 square kilometers is in this area. In other words, RIG JEN on the northern border leads to the GUGERDI Mountain, on the eastern border is leading to the DAMGHAN- JANDAGH road, and on the north to VARGI River which is flowing from the heights of the GUGERDI Mountain. This river enters the RIG JEN in direction of the northwest-Southeast and the mountain of MOLAHADI is on the southern margin of this SABULOUS.
As it was said, "RIG JEN" is a desert region with sand dunes in the central desert of Iran. Because of its large size and lack of springs or wells, in the distant past, it was not the place of the caravans, and only in recent years several groups of researchers and explorers have gone to that area. The expansion of the RIG JEN is from the northwest to the southeast and in the southeastern part is covered by sandy hills and are famous as RIG TAIL.
Infrastructure of RIG JEN is an eroded plain, which now are occupied by the sandy hills of BARKHAN and Pyramid sandy hills (GHORD). RIG JEN is rich in salt sediments, and most of its sediments and erosion are formed from the eroded slopes of the ALBORZ. The existence of a dominant wind from the west to the east has made the hill in the eastern part with a very steep slope and in the western parts with a soft slope. This same factor has made it difficult to cross the RIG JEN with vehicles from east to west, and in some cases impossible.
This area is also believed by the indigenous people of the desert, as a cursed land. They believe that the evil spirits rule in this mysterious land, and so anyone who steps into the RIG JEN is swallowed and never returns. In the desert region of the RIG JEN, which is known as the Bermuda Triangle of Iran, you will see sandy hills and salt marshes.
RIG JEN is the most amazing, most mysterious and scary area in Iran, with marshes that brings death for any living creature. Many unanswered and unexplained events have taken place in this area, and the salt lands in this area have been the source of many killings and deaths.
Sinking in mud in RIG JEN, perhaps is one of the most dangerous events that could endanger passengers and kill them. For many years, nobody dared to travel to RIG JEN and discover the mystery of this mysterious desert. .
The best way to reach this area is the MALEK ABAD stone paved road, which is located in the northeastern part of the Desert National Park. The best way to cross this desert is also light weight jeep. Of course, do not forget that there is possibility to get lost in the RIG JEN desert every moment.
A trip to the RIG JEN usually takes place with the highest level of equipment. On this trip, it is necessary to save food, water, gasoline and technical equipment of the car with the tourist for at least 15 days. Do not forget about the map, because it's very dangerous to travel to RIG JEN. The most important thing is that if you have never traveled to the desert and are not so-called professional, for the first time, do not choose RIG JEN. Even if you are a professional, be sure to travel to the area in a group.
In the meantime, do not forget the local guide, because locals are usually hard people, and in addition to determining the way, even in difficult circumstances, they can be very helpful. Part of the area is relatively more flat, with smaller hills, so the passage is relatively easy, but with a slight advance, with falling height, you will reach to swampy lands, which is almost south of the area. The urge to cross these marsh lands is useless, so you should proceed from the northwest side.
When you leave the last mountains which are 2300 meters high, you will reach to the northern part of the RIG JEN. From here, Mount Damavand can also be seen. By continuing this route, you will reach the Desert National Park. If you like another route, you can use a map and a guide to experience a new direction. But all the hardships, up and down, one side and the desert night sky with lot of stars, are on the other side. Sleeping on flowing sands, on a tall hill, and looking up to sky that does not even have a black spot, is very stunning.
