HIS FULL NAME: NOURULDIN ABDULRAHMAN
NICK NAME: LAST OF POETS, JAMI
DATE OF BIRTH: 16 November 1414
DEATH: 17 November 1492
Musician, scholar, Sufi, poet and writer
He is greatest master in Persian word literature after HAFEZ`s era.
He selected the nick name as JAMI, because his home land is JAM, and secondly his previous master`s name was SHEIKH AHMAD JAM.
His grandfather, SHAMSULDIN MOHAMMAD DASHTI was from ISFAHAN. Because of tyranny of TURKS, grandfather moved to KHORASAN, became judge and stayed there forever.
He spent childhood and primary education in KHERGERD JAM, near HERAT city. When he was 13, along with father moved to Herat and stayed. He attended NEZAMIYEH School. The said school was one of the prestigious scientific centers of the time. He could learn grammar, logic, wisdom initiation, illumination, physics, mathematics, law, principles, traditions and interpretation from great masters like KHAJE ALI SAMARGHANDI and MOHAMMAD JAJROMI.
In this period, he was attracted by SUFIISM`S ideas. And became follower of NAGHSHBANDI. He showed his talent in this group and after some years and death of their leader, JAMI was selected as Caliph of Sufis.
In 1472, he started a long journey. In these years he got lot of valuable information. Great master wrote about everything, events, pilgrimage, various cities, irritation and boredom and everything else in his DIVAN.
Many biographers consider him as the founder of Hindi style. This matter can be true to some extent. Because master maintained ancient and noble style and also showed lack of clutter styles in the way of poetry. Of course, he obeyed the characteristics of literary history of his own period.
Finally great master expired at the age of 81 in Herat city.

RELIGIOUS BELIEFS:

According to the NAGHSHBANDIYEH SUFI lineage and his own writings, it is clear that he was SUNI HANAFI MUSLIM. However he praised Shiite Imams, ALI, HASAN and HOSSEIN. Made valuable poems about them and accepted their truth, faith and bravery.

HIS WORKS:

From JAMI, dozens of books and treatises of prose and poetry in Persian and Arabic remained.
POETRY WORKS: JAMI gathered his poems in two big collections.
JAMI at the end of life followed DEHLAVI`s style and parted his works in three styles.

1) Youth time
2) Mid-life
3) End of life

HIS FAMOUSE POEMS:

Today I went to KAABA, there I remembered you
I remember watching you on the beauty of KAABA
When I saw the KAABA, with the black banner
Raised my hand toward your black hair
I took the door of KAABA, for the sake of hundred needs
Prayed for your well smelled hair
I was not in any position other than yours
Tried to find you
All stood in ARAFAT to pray
I closed my lips to talk to you
All went seeking their needs
Regardless of all, wished to see you

FLOWER LAND OF LOVE:

Thorn of your love made lot of thorns in my heart
Every moment planted gardens on my face out of those thorns
My body bent through shout and whimper
Tears fallen from eyelashes to cover whole body
Went to the garden for the sake of you the flower
Tore the shirts and washed the face with blood
To see the cedar and spruce who pass the garden
Whole life time raised the up through walls
Ascetic went to mosque to finish the way
Where to do nothing
Each time I sell your soul to get a kiss
I should be mad to go to markets
You are friend of every thorn I died of fervency
Everyone dies once *** poor JAMI died many times
