Natural attractions of Rijab
1. Waterfalls: located northwest of Shahrake Rijab and Jalke village, it is one of the tallest falls in Iran. It overlooks another beautiful waterfall.2. Alvand River: Alvand or Halvand (meaning sweet) is the only river in Rijab. Its origin is Siyahdane heights in Dalahu mountain and after a meandering flow through the gardens of walnuts, it runs into the border cities of Sarpolezahab and Qasre Shirin. It ends up in the neighboring country of Iraq.
3. Valleys: Rijab with its remarkable topographic structure has valleys like, Darre Larz,Darre Taviyan, Darre Maran, anjir Kalan, Dare Salehan, Ghame Ghoole, Darre Hunan, Darre Tarike, Darre chenar, Mery bool, and Darre hune. The forest valleys extend mainly in line with Alvand River and are surrounded by dense and diverse vegetations. The mountain valleys lie within the high peaks where permanent and roaring Alvand River starts.
4. Springs: there are more than 20 springs in Rijab. The main ones, in terms of the amount of water, are Hashane and Kolitan springs which provide water for the Alvand River. Ghoslan spring in Baba Yadegar is famous for its healing water in the neighborhood.
5. Vegetation and forests: the trees and shrubs in Rijab’s forests include, oak, mountainous pistachios, Zalzalak(kind of wild plum), wild sour cherries, wild raspberries, willow, figs, walnuts, pomegranates, planes, grapes, peaches, and olives. Abundant herbs include: rhubarb, sumac or sumach, Esfand, acanthus, chinnor, Genoor, Zu, Siroone, Pichakokool, mushrooms, Toolke, Gilakhe, Chavbaze, Shen, Siyakooz, etc.
