Hormoz island is a beautiful gem in the heart of the Persian Gulf.Do you need money or time for a trip? Many, especially those who are traveling buffs, would say the time doesn’t matter at all; since trips take them to the world beyond limitations of time .
When you decide to visit the Island of Hormoz , Tehran- Bandar Abbas train is a nice option; if you take train from Tehran about 1 pm ( and of course if everything goes right), you’ll be able to get into your destination in Bandar Abbas around 8 am the next morning.
Bandar Abbas, too, boasts spectacular highlights like Ganu mountains and hot spa. If you head off from a cold or mild area, you’ll be amazed at the fruits and vegetables markets across Bandar Abbas from Azar through Farvardin (December-Apri). It’s a land of colorful and pleasant spring ; you can’t believe your eyes when you’ll see fresh oranges, dark eggplants, and fragrant beans, cultivated only a few hours ago , and south’s famous tangerines. So if you are not in a hurry, be sure to visit its traditional market. Of course, if you have planned to take a flight, you can take tickets for Bandar Abbas or Qeshm and then move on to Hormoz island.
You can pitch tents on the beautiful shores beside the sea full of colorful fish.
And if you come along with your family and would like to spend time in five star hotels and restaurants you can head off to Bandar Abbas and Qeshm.
Hormoz or Qeshm?
The small island of Hormoz is a district in the city of Qeshm. A lot of visitors would pay a one-day visit to the island once in Qeshm. The 5.5 square kilometer island is so fascinating that many sightseers would like to spend some time in the villages, pitching tents. You ‘ll have to ride high-speed boats for a reasonable amount to reach there from Qeshm.
If it’s not wet, rainy, and stormy in the Persian Gulf with no high tides ( which often hit the shorelines), and above all if wind’s direction is OK, the boats will take you to the island in half an hour.
Qeshm and Hormoz islands are not far from each other; you can witness the island of Hormoz right on the Qeshm coasts. You should spend a few minutes on the boats run by indigenous rowers, swaying from one side to the other while watching the waves as well as numerous wandering ships in waters.
To go there from Bandar Abbas, it will take more time; over half an hour. But since it’s a center city you can always find boats. And boatmen carry guests( tourists) and hospitable indigenous people before the sun sets.
Once you enter the island , the face of the indigenous people would remind you of Baluchi people or Indians. You’ll come across the veiled girls with Bandari Chadors. It’s so small and quiet that you can hear the sound of the sea everywhere. The humid island is known as the colorful shores: pristine silver or golden shores. It features red soil which is quite fascinating to sightseers. It also boasts white salt valleys which grow red and golden when it rains.
The exact date of holding the annual ritual is not clear but it mainly occurs in the second half of the year , which is a high season for traveling south, or on the national day of the Persian Gulf in Ordibehesht.
A wander around island, biking or on foot
The small fascinating island is a must-see. The road along the shores starts when you get off the boats and after about a 3-hours walk, you’ll turn back to the place you started walking. It’s fun to take a walk or do bike riding. The cultural heritage and tourism organization rents bikes so that interested visitors can cycle around the island. Entertainment and workout , leaving behind all the stress of hectic life , forgetting about the things you don’t like , these all give you enough strength to pedal your bikes forward. If you are a fan of biking and have no bike around , you can do so on the shores , remembering the delightful childhood.Gazelles fields
The legendary gazelle implies freedom, serenity, comfort, peace and quiet, hopefulness, charm, coquetry and stalking . Sometimes you might wish you were as fast as gazelles with a very calm brain. Let’s put aside the dreams. watching gazelles is a wonderful experience. It is said that they are safe in the island; indigenous people treat them in a good way. They run around freely and are welcomed in the Persian Gulf land. If you ever visit the region, you can get close and watch them as long as you are no threat.Shores and birds
The island features silver sand shores ; a suitable hub for swimmers and water sports fans. Don’t miss its great rugged rocks which are a symbol of strength and stability. The springy weather in late autumn and early winter is so pleasant that will attract lots of tourists. You can get refreshed in the peaceful islands with delicate sounds of the waves of the Persian Gulf.It boasts diverse fauna and flora. Diverse sea birds, dolphins, turtles, along with mangroves forests and Hara woodlands are only a tiny part of the island’s wonder. They are quite fascinating to nature wanderers.
Portuguese castle
Portuguese castles are often found in southern islands of the country which date back to when Portuguese ruled the region, Hormoz is no exception. It enjoys a strategic location and that’s why it appealed to colonialists. The castle is now a highlight. Once you turn the coastline, you’ll come across it. Don’t miss it if you are interested in history.
Let’s say goodbye to the island !
After visiting all the beauties it has to offer , after watching gazelles, colorful soils and flowing salt, after enough bathing and swimming you can prepare to return to Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Mashhad or any land on the planet you belong to.You are always welcomed by kind and hospitable people.
Enjoy your trip to Hormoz.
