Women in many societies and cultures have been under the invectives and innuendos and various interpretations, proverbs and critical points have been told about them.
This phenomenon can be analyzed in various ways. From the perspective of women these annoying interpretations are expression of aggressive and arrogant positions of men throughout the history. In the eyes of men, critical interpretations about women are rooted in their performance and their tricks that apply to realize their desires, ideas, and perspectives!
But if we take a look beyond the sight of both sides and look for a more profound reason for natural behavior of people, we can get to this reality that under the layers of these critics and reports, there are several essential points:
1. Women have had a great power in all societies and all cultures that men were lacking of them.
Men with all superiority of physical and spiritual strength have a feeling of helplessness in dealing with women in the field of special advantages they have.
3. Dependence of men to women has been so serious that they usually were unable to ignore or throw away common life.
If we put these three important factors (need, inevitable, and inequality of tastes, desires and looks) next to each other, we realize that men’s need of living with women and loving them on the one hand, and their varied looks and tastes and choices on the other hand, had formed two opposite statuses in men, a mood that swings between two poles of loving and pessimism. On the one hand, poets always have praised women in their finest poetic conceits about their eyebrows, hair, and look, and height and have borrowed them to say poetry, and on the other hand, they have accused women to disloyalty, jealousy, selfishness and stupidity in guile, aggression, and conflict. Sometimes, they have called women as the angel and sometimes as the devil!
As it passed, the secret of the contradictions and paradoxes of the men about women is that male needs female on the one hand and is fascinated and charmed by her; so he praises her, on the other hand, he feels that this fascination has put an abundance cost on his shoulders. In fact, it has captured his freedom, and sometimes, it has taken him to the amount of madness. This is where he feels fear and danger and opens his lips to criticism and reproach.
If it is asked, whether the problem is men’s or women’s? It must be said that the problem is just men’s, but men despite of their different skills and heavy life’s loads such as: war with the enemy, defending the family, livelihood, etc. is naturally as their responsibility, but usually they are unable to solve this problem, but the key to solving this problem is in the hands of women. What has made the matter more complicated is the same thing that captive of look and beauty and love of a woman, does not have the key to his prison, and it is in such circumstances that when the field is tight on him, he starts speaking rapidly and complains about her, but does the same need and inevitability of men to women exist for women mutually? Do not women need the presence of men to have a symbiotic relationship with them?
In the view of Quran, the matter of existence of male and female is an interaction matter, and as well as women are clothing and cover of physical and emotional needs of men, men also play the same role for women, but the existence of this mutual matter does not mean their consistency working in the order of nature, but on the contrary, the differences of attractions, methods and functions has given meaning to the parity issue and completeness.
The Quran states the equality of men and women in the scheme of creation, and in the expression of function of each of the two and natural role that they play, it has a different word.
Quran knows the role of women in everyday life of human as relaxing role and getting rid of physical and psychological pressures of life:
And of the signs of God is that he set you spouses to feel tranquility with them.
When Quran wants to depict the function and role of man in life to women, says:
Men are source of strength and stability - material and spiritual - for women.
Two words: (Letaskunu Elayha) and (Qavamun Ala al-Nisa) that in one "Elay" and in the other one "Ala" is used and also accuracy in the text of meaning of "Leyaskunu" and "Qavamun" represents that in objective function, role of shelter, comfort, and support, sovereign affirm and support of life has been entrusted to men.
Woman is awning and man is bearing; if this awning has relied on a trusted and strong pillar, it gives consistent comfort, welfare and security to the human’s life, but each one without the other one, make the life hard, uncomfortable and insecure.

Charm and beauty, the natural functions of women

Based on what was mentioned before, if woman should play the role of awning, making relax and calming down, inevitable there must be its appropriate tools and facilities to play this role, and God has set the facility in two dimensions: 1. in physical dimension and in apparent body of woman 2. In her spiritual, emotional and genteelness of her personality.
Woman with her beauty and luxury is an active, effective, and compelling ingredient, and it is amazing that with her inherent flexibility and passivity, she increases this impact, sustains it and gives it depth.
Woman in natural system of human is a spear fishing to love and be loved and tool of the fishing and its features - that is loving and caressing - is given to her. As the man in the order of nature is a king that shows authority to protect and give safety and utility of this authority in both physical and mental aspects has been given to him.
But history remembers difficult memories of fishermen and kings; Fishermen who hunted for their enjoyment and pleasure and killed the injured hunt or let him die by himself. Kings associated their authority with tyranny and selfishness and cruelty, and they themselves have created the greatest insecurity for others.
If the "Fishing" and "Kingship" role be mixed a hard catastrophe will occur.
A fisherman who hunts to rule over it others and make him her slave and captive, and a woman who shows her beauty and attraction to rule other with her beuty, has taken benefit from the God’s facilities against the universe’s goals, and a king who falls in love with hunting and mate and uses his facilities to hunt other, will have a slaughterhouse as big as a Harem of Kings! And will showcase the male animal by "a man", who will not respond to anything but sexual needs, and before it and after it, will not accept any liability.

Prudency, the beauty of appeal

God’s plan for women to use their attraction and beauty in the direction of construction and relaxing and moderation of human society and not to use their charm in direction of deceive and domination, is setting “prudency” and “modesty” in woman’s spirit.
Modesty and chastity is both necessary for women and for men in order not to step out of the boundaries of ethics and acceptable human and divine principles, but due to the abilities and special attractions that God has placed in the female, the element of modesty and chastity is more needed for them.
If in some narrations it has been mentioned that natural desires of women are stronger than men, it could infer spiritual and physical aspects of women’s attraction, and also, if we see in narrations that female chastity is more than men- and it has to be- is due to the reason that in the same amount of that beauty and attraction, if there is no prudency and modesty as much as that beauty, there would appear a tricky, aggressive, selfish and capricious element out of a woman; the one that has historically been criticized, and in the Qur'an, there has been a negative example in Surah Yusuf so that once and for all warn that if the beauty and glory be regardless of modesty and chastity, not only it captivate corrupted and sensual men, but also captive benevolent and pure men, and if it cannot overcrowd their souls, it will imprison a body with no sin.

The first step, against nature

And the woman that Joseph was at her home, repeatedly asked of him. And someday, she closed all the doors, and while she was prepared to Joseph] said, Come on, hurry! He said: Allah forbid.
Based on Quran’s report, only the head of Egypt’s wife was not in love with Joseph to say maybe she has been an exception, but all wealthy women who had met Yusof and were usually in the same level of life culture and ethical principles and social modesty, had the same feeling about him.
Hence, the Quran uses "plural" phrase and says:
Yusof said: O Lord, the prison is more comfortable for me than whatever they are inviting me to, and if you do not help to prevent them from their deceives, I will be attracted to them and will be of insipient men.
We use this part of this verse- woman who has natural attractions and flexibility- if lacks in prudency due to being in welfare or specific living conditions and social relations, will destroy life balance and individual and social security and will return into a negative element, but this does not mean that she is villainous and malignant, because she will admit the truth of purity when she returns to a mental balance, however, is against her.
If in Quran there is no referring to love of man for woman- in spite of woman’s attraction and appeal for man- in a particular manner that will force him to do some actions, is due to the reason that in the matter of love, appeal of woman is background for man becoming attracted in her, and therefore, in this way, woman is a step ahead of man; although, in continue, this is man who strengthens and boosts it.
Loving lovable things such as: women, children [sons], bags full of gold and silver, bred horses, livestock and crops have been adorned for people. These are tools for this world and God that prosperity is only with him.
Based on this verse, men have feelings and love for women, but this attraction is in the frame of loving world’s attractions, not the basic and initial sexual love; hence, it has been set in the same level as loving children and money and properties.
In other words, the love of man to woman, at the beginning is a quiet and subdued need and a natural tendency, what fire this love is a force that is in the hands of female. Female tendency to male is also at the beginning a natural and moderate desire, and whatever intensifies this tendency and makes it uncontrollable is weakening prudency and modesty of woman, but man’s need and desire will not solely fire love in woman’s heart, but it eventually lead to the strengthening of her arrogance or pity.
Thus, we can conclude that attractions make women suffer from emotional turmoil and excitement more than men and leads to risky behaviors.

Hijab of women, a plan for the sustainability of their chastity

As it was mentioned, the shame and modesty force - that is an internal and spiritual component- is God's plan for their control on the correct use of the beauty and charm in life and society.
Moreover, God has also used other measures for strengthening women's internal chastity and shame to be more successful and chastity compliance will be easier, and it is through the "veil", Therefore God also cited judgments about the veil:
And they should not reveal their ornaments - except what is apparent by itself – cover their necks by scarves and do not reveal their adornment and do not stamp their feet on the ground in a way that their hidden adornments come out.
And for set women who have no hope of marriage, there is no sin to set aside their clothing, without any decoration revealed.
And be placed in your homes and ignore earlier manifesting.
O wives of the Prophet, if you have piety, you are not like any other women. So do not be charming in your speech so that someone who has a sickness in his heart will not take an action and say appropriate words.
This interdiction of doubtable preventing has been set because desire of showing beauties is naturally inside women, and if it is not managed or controlled, it will lead to serious blames, but there are no such interdictions about men to women. It depicts that in the view of Quran, these similar matters do not naturally and basically exist in men to make them make up themselves and show themselves and lead to women’s attraction. However, self-make up is observable in a weaker and fader way in men as well, but it seems that men ornamenting does not lead to the first thing in their relations with women and is not considered as a basic devil. Of the verses that shows the share of women in society’s pureness is more and more serious, and if there is a joint sin and mistake, this is woman who has not protected her own sexual ability and has ignored prudency element and has opened her privacy to stranger man, is the verse that has mentioned sinful woman’s name ahead of sinful man’s name:
Whip adulterous woman and adulterous man both one hundred times. This is while he spends attention on robbery and its punishment, as this commitment is more common among men or is done more by them, name of male robber is ahead of female robber:
And cut the hand of male and female thieves to justice what they have done as retribution from God and God is self-interested and wise. Regarding the wisdom of Quran in picking and choosing terms, this difference in interpretation both express the punishment, and both talk about punishment of man and woman, but it shows existence of spiritual and inner feature in two sexes which has led to difference in interpretation. Interpreters have considered this feature as the role of women in sexual relationships, Tabarsi says:
“It has been said that the name of adultery woman is ahead of adultery man, because adultery of women is worse and leads to more shame and scandal and is more harmful to pregnancy and also lust in women is higher and more dominant.”
Allama Tabatabaee has also said the same theory as “Qil”- something that has been said - has learned. The term "Qil" indicates that the above analysis is not conclusive for Allama.
Baydawi has also said:
"Adulteress is ahead of adulterer, as adultery is often realized by a woman giving her body to a man, and corruption and bad consequences of adultery is higher for women as well."
Tabarsi says about the verse "robbery":
"In this verse the speech is started with male robber, because the men steal more than women, and in adultery verse, the words are started with women and said: (Alzanyh Valzany), because adultery is more prevalent in women."
Another verses which in this regard is remarkable, is that about a pagan women who tends to believe and want to express her faith and allegiance, one of the conditions that the Qur'an has set is leaving adultery:
O Prophet, when believing women - tend to believe in and to accept it – come to you to make allegiance to you on the grounds that they never worship anything but God and do not steal, and do not commit adultery, and not kill their children and make no opposition in any inappropriate issue with you, then accept their allegiance and ask Allah to forgive them, surely Allah is Forgiving, Most Merciful.
But the men do not have the same condition, or that adultery is a two-player action and is the same for both in the prohibition and punishment, but in reminder stage, warnings, alerts and Prevention, women have been more warned, because much of the management and control of chastity or unchastity is under their will and desire.
In some traditions, the desire and the absorptive power and seductiveness of women than men is as follows:
Women’s attention and goal is for men.
The Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny) said:
I have never seen a weakened believing and stupid element be able to deceive a wise person, as some weakened believing and not wise women have influenced on them, and made them do unwise behaviors. We use this narrative to say that if belief and thinking is weak in a woman it can play a negative role in the society, and not only she can attract men like herself, but also can attract those men who step normally in moral principles and situations as well so that they give up and choose wrongly! The matter that pure Yusof in his prayers with God has sheltered to God from wealthy women and has asked for his help and says: if you do not help me and rescue me, I will be worried of feeling attracted in those women so that their desire will be effective in my will, although I know that their request and manner is foolish, refers to the same meaning.

Pests of modesty and chastity in women

A) Incorrect exchanges and traffics

Dear women tries with her continuous traffics to call her servant for herself. Her emotions have been raised and filled her essence.
This verse implies that incorrect commutes could be altered from a natural bond and attraction to a diversion and disease.

B) To showcase natural decorative and beauty

(Vela Ybdyn Zynthn);
And do not reveal their ornaments.
Without revealing any ornaments.
And be placed in your homes and do not take ignorance of earlier people

C) Amenity in speaking

Do not have amenity in speaking so that the one who has illness in his heart does not be greedy and say a good word.

E) Alone with a strange man in indoors

She slammed the doors, and while she was prepared to Joseph] said, Come on, hurry.

F) Association with the unhealthy circles and gatherings

She said: This is the person who you blamed in his love. Yes, I have asked of him, but he resisted and if he does not do what I command, he shall be imprisoned and will be debased.

Women’s accusation background in mischief and fraud

The woman at first glance is known as an angel-like element; hence always in the imagination of artists and actors and painters and figurines, angels have been manifested in shape and stature of women.
The first woman that exists in the life of every person is an angel named mother, the symbol of sacrifice and devotion.
Whenever poets and mystics have tried to take their mind and their audience’s mind into the space beyond the material world and exaggerate in outlining the facts and subtleties, has borrowed the mole and lip and eyebrow of women.
However, what has happened that women in many social cultures have been criticized with a bad interpretation social and have been accused to be mischievous and deceitful.
Quran answers this question and says: when a woman does not take benefit of her valuable capabilities and features in a correct way and does not veil her beauty, glory, elegance, wit and modesty and chastity is as a fresh fruit that when it is pealed it will quickly become fetid and spoiled.
As wife of Dear of Egypt with all her glory, needless, being welfare and rich, when she ignored prudency and veil, was on her knees on one hand and asked a young servant, and on the other hand, to achieve to her lust accused her soul mate and imprisoned him, and finally was known as a deceitful person.
Egypt's Dear considers royal women’s conspiracy as all the history’s women and suggests that the female gender is basically associated with cunning.
Without God confirming his Word with application has merely stated that to indicate what areas and functions in history have provided teased and undeterred grounds against women.
However, in the next verse, the Qur'an has also titled these types of women actions as deception and trick and has given the title of deceitful to Court’s wealthy women who have ignored prudency and modesty and have step out of healthy relations.
He said: "Our Lord! Prison is dearer to me than what they call me to it! And if you do not stop their deception from me, I'd be inclined towards them and will be ignorant! "Lord heard his prayer; and stopped their guile from him, because he is Hearing and knowing.
Quran by stating the story of Yusof does not mean to say that majority of women are like Zoleikha and majority of men are like Yusof, but in contrary, it wants to depict the ugliest misuse of a woman’s facilities by her so that women be alarmed and do not sale their valuable good and divine gifts in deprivation market with incorrect introductions.
On the other hand, it introduces Yusof to men - who usually have low resistance to sexual temptation and usually become attracted in attractions and beautiful appearance and behavior of women - as the best glorious symbol of resistance, purity, honesty and benevolent and set this pictorial story as an example and a role model for women and men, and among all of it mentions tens and hundreds of points of knowledge and ethics.
