Experience a cave with plenty of abysses

Rud Afshan cave

The cave boasts icicle like incrustations of lime hanging from the ceiling.
There are also holes inside where clear water comes out of the heart of rocks.
It lies in the village of Rud Afshan , in the city of Damavand in the central Alborz mountains. Its mouth is the widest entrance across the country.
It is high enough to pass through easily. Of course, there are parts where you ‘ll have to crawl and go on all fours. Inside are abundant broad halls and along the main route there are plenty of abysses. The length of the end corridor measures 10 meters, 1, 750 meters above sea level, 50 meters lower than the mouth. The main route is about 550 meters long.
You are recommended to go from the Tehran- Firoozkuh road , then to the village of Sayyed Abad ( 62 km from Firoozkuh) and on to the village of Rud Afshan. From there, you’ll have an easy one-hour mountain climbing to reach the mouth.
Before caving, consider the following equipment:
A guide, first aid kit, torch, extra batteries, candle, and waterproof clothing,
And don’t forget to inform the local officials of your visit.
