Qeshm , the largest island in the Persian Gulf, features a wonderful and interesting nature. Nature lovers consider it among 7 wonders and believe that the beauty in an expanse of 1,400 square kilometers is only describes as” exceptional”. In addition to its unique natural attraction, it is important strategically. According to Anobanini , Qeshm and the places around boast historic places and remains of the castles which show the urbanization and civilization of the port city in the old days .

Salt cave

The domed mountain, 237 meters above sea level, lies 90 km from the city of Qeshm , in the end of southwest of the island ( approximately along the southern coast). The salt streaks on the body of the mountain have created an interesting and spectacular landscape. The mouth of the cave is about2 km from the road near the coast . You are recommended to walk there. Inside the cave ,especially in a high depth, is dark and you will need a torch to see the crystalline stalactites. The ceiling is covered in marble-like pieces and white crystals in different shapes and offers spectacular scenery. People suffering from asthma or respiratory disorders are recommended to go and breathe inside the cave. It is well worth a visit. The facilities in the surrounding areas meet the main needs of domestic and foreign visitors who come over to see the spectacular unique attractions on the planet .

Banyan tree or green tree

One of the amazing plants growing in the tropical regions , especially in the Persian Gulf islands, is the evergreen tree of banyan ( it has a large crown and aerial roots. Its orange fruits are edible and pleasant to the taste. One of the most beautiful banyan trees stands in Tamseniti in the region of Tourian ,near which there is a lovely tomb with old architecture named Ziarat Pir.

Marine wildlife

Generally, 11 crab species from 3 families exist in the island. The waters are filled with various fish. There are green turtles in the islands of Qeshm, Hengam, Lark, Tange Khoran, and the east of Loft. The sand coast in the east of Kani and the southeast is a favorite place to the turtles. Bottlenose dolphins ((Tursiops truncatus) are its main mammals.

Karbaz(Xarbes) cave

It is located 12 km from Qeshm , near the southern road. It lies on the chest of a mountain overlooking the sea and Miankase fields. It is a sea cave formed as a result of whirlpools and erosional release of sand from the heart of rocks.
But in the pre-Islamic era , most probably people use it as a shelter or a worshipping place as the cave has developed in the middle halls and branch corridors.

Stars valley

The stars valley in Qeshm, known as fallen star or Kafte Estare by locals, lies in the village of Berke Khalaf in the great island of Qeshm. The village is located 15 km from Qeshm and on the road in the southern edge of the island.
Some locals believe that when it gets dark, ghosts and elves come to the area. But the valleys with their beautiful shapes have actually been formed as a result of seasonal rain and soil erosion. The road to access the village is paved. From the village up to the stars valley there is a dirt road , about 500 meters long, where vehicles can easily pass.
People believe that the valley is where a star from the sky hit the earth. In other words a star has fallen on the ground and developed the stars valley.

Tal Ab or Gold wells

The gold wells lie 76 km from the city of Qeshm , 30 km north of the international Qeshm airport. What fascinates Qeshm visitors most is the windward of houses in the village of Loft. When you enter the village , near the Naderi castle , there are several water wells inside a pit on the hillside which show the Persian technology of saving water in the Achaemenid and Zoroastrian periods in the island. The Gabri and Zoroastrian were skillful at digging wells and building aqueducts.

Sassanid and Achaemenid dams

In Qeshm, freshwater is vital to human , animals and plants. In the old days, they would build dams in straits, paths and valleys to collect water in rain seasons. They used it for drinking and cultivation purposes.

Pei Posht

It is situated near the village of Pei Posht, 37 km from the city of Qeshm, 28 km from the international Qeshm airport , in the north of the island.
The historic dam in the entrance of the strait with facilities to distribute water dates from the Sassanid era.

Goran dam

It lies 78 km from the city of Qeshm, near the village of Goran , beside the Tabl- Basaido road. The foundation started in the periods of Goran (Gabri or Zoroastrian) and Achaemenid.

Portuguese castle

As a fortress it was built before the kingdom of Shah Abbas by the Portuguese to control the marine traffic in the regions of Hormoz and the Persian Gulf.
