The city has 3 parts; Markazi, Rud Bast and Bahnamir. It extends to the Caspian sea from north, to Bahmanir from east , to Fereydunkenar from west and to Kale Bast from south. It’s 60 km from Sari , the center of the province of Mazandaran.
The coast city with beautiful natural landscapes is among the highlights in Mazandaran and draws countless domestic and foreign tourists each year.
     Tourist attractions in Babolsar
The river of Babolrud runs through it dividing it to two parts. There are two bridges on the river ; one built by German engineers and the other by Iranians.
It is connected to the Caspian sea and when its water level comes up , you can witness spectacular scenery. The docks with sailing boats along with the tall spruce trees on two sides of the sidewalk have doubled its beauty. Lights on the edges of the river are reflected in water and create a magnificent landscape for visitors at night.
It features villas, suites on the coastline, beautiful complexes , the park of urban Islamic council, forest park of Babolrud, and boats of fishermen lying on the docks.
Water skiing and boat riding are favorite sports you can do either on the river or the sea. You can also use high-speed boats and sea buses. It is home to the fishery department , radiotherapy center of the province and university of Mazandaran.
Rubber dam in the region of Babol Posht in Babolsar provides water for the agricultural land in the city.
Imamzadeh Ebrahim mausoleum is among pilgrimage sites in Babolsar which receives many tourists . The historical and religious monument , one km from the center of the city, is a place where tourists stay to pray and worship God.
Built in the 9th century AH, it is among the major landmarks which represents the history of the city. It has 4 carved painted doors ; on which 3 dates are carved 841-857-858.
The main materials of the building include brick, mortar, and tile. It’s pyramid-like dome has a grandeur. It was rebuilt but its art works are preserved.
Bibi Roghaye mausoleum is another shrine which is located near Imamzade Ebrahim mausoleum.
Bibi Roghaye was a woman who served as a maid in Imamzadeh Ebrahim and one of the doors , mentioned above, was adorned with her money. She commissioned a carpenter to carve it . Her name is inscribed on it too.
Melgunov, a historian, calls it Bibi Sakinah’s and believes it was built in 893 AH. The octagonal brick monument has arched ceilings. It lies in the southeast of Imamzade Ebrahim tomb and has long been visited by villagers and visitors .The monument in the central department of Mazandaran university is another highlight , over half a century old.
It was built near the suspending bridge , one km from the sea, in the garden and an expansive open space and is now converted into the central and official department of the university of Mazandaran. One other landmark is the Shahid Rajai hospital building, built in 1329 (solar calendar). It was once Kazino hotel. The monument is housed in a wide garden, on Shilat square on Shariati Street, which stretches to north to the shores and to east overlooking the river of Babolrud.
The hotel was closed in 1357 and was changed into the hospital where people suffering from cancers are treated ; it’s one prime oncology hospital with chemotherapy and radiation therapy centers.
The suspending bridge of Babolsar , a symbol of the coast city, was constructed on the Babolrud river by German and Swedish engineers in 1313, before the second world war.
With a length of 80 meters and a width of 8 meters , it is the first car bridge which connects east and west of Babolsar and is a link between Babolsar and Fereydunkenar . The 16-meter high bridge is on the main route of east and west of the province and is therefore very crowded.
The pedestrian bridge ( tiny bridge) is the smallest in the city built on the Babolrud in 1328. It was broken some years ago and wasn’t used any more but it is now rebuilt and tourists and vehicles use it again.
The registered ancient hills of Mir Bazar date back to the first millennium AH. Relics such as crockery, pieces of brick and painted pottery were explored in the region. The hills include Rajab Kati, Ahamd Kati, Alijan Kati, Mohammad Ali Kati, Abdollah Kati, Chamaz Kati, Isa Kati, Kati Khordmord, and Ghale Ahmad Kala. They lie in the east of the city on the Babolsar- Bahmanir road. Also it features Kale Arab land where very large bricks were found which resemble the bricks in Sassanid era.
The top tourism region of Mirud in Bahmanir, a district in Babolsar, is another interesting tourism hub which boasts green woodlands and kids’ park near the sea. It draws countless visitors from across the country and is a must-see.
