These days, rosewater rituals have made Niasar and Ghamsar a flourishing area for tourism. You might be preparing for a short trip to the cities. We have already talked of the attractions in Ghamsar but it would be a good idea to address Niasar this time, which is not only the major rose water making center in Kashan but it has also emerged as the greenest destination for sightseers thanks to its unique nature.
It is located 30 km west of Kashan. Housed in a mountainous region within the heights of Karkas , it is totally different from other places throughout Kashan in terms of its climate. It is o pleasant and delicate that it becomes a haunt for the residents of Kashan who escape from the heat in spring and summer to the cool lush city. This is not the only attraction of Niasar; the small city offers many valuable historic highlights spread out all over the place , which tell tourists a lot about its history.
The city owes its history to a spring known as Eskandariyeh , which is the source of the famous waterfall in the city.
It enjoys abundant water resources, a blessing to develop urban history and civilization. When archeologists explored the city , they came across some historic graves in different shapes which show they were made in different periods with different traditions and customs.
If you ever travel to Niasar, you might want to pay a visit to the historic cave of Ris and its old bottom layer. Chahar Taghi ( fire temple ) of Sassanid, lush gardens, old mud-straw alleys, the garden and pavilion of Talar etc. are among the attractions which would amuse you for hours.
Also of note are the historic bathhouse and watermill of Niasar , which worked in an interesting way. The bathhouse’s water went into a beautiful octagonal structure through mud pipes and was directed into the bath. Logs were used as fuel. The octagonal entrance was separated from the outside through corridors.
The water mill turned with water flowing down a waterfall to grind wheat and barley for the residents of the region.
Naisar fire temple
Many believe that the fire temple, built by Ardashir Babakan, was the first temple made by the Sassanid dynasty.
The architecture approves it belongs to the Sassanid era; like other temples in this era it stands on a square pillar. The materials used include stone and plaster. It seems that the main dome of the building collapsed in the past but later on it was restored and shaped like the domes in the Islamic period.
A couple of meters down you can witness the spring of Eskanadr which ends up in the waterfall. The cool spring contains small and large black fish jumping up and down in waters. It is said that Artaxerxes I chose the place to stay near the spring.
Ris cave
It is located 30 km northwest of Kashan at the foot of a high mountain. Among the artificial caves of the country , it was made for religious purposes in the past. Some archeologists believe that it was built in the Parthian period. According to them, they built their temples in dark- pitch areas and so it was used as a temple.
It was unknown for many years and that’s why it is not mentioned in any historic texts and documents.
If you ever visit the cave , you’ll confirm that without a visit to the magnificent masterpiece in the hearts of Karkas mountain , your trip would be incomplete. It is noteworthy that the cave has a dangerous and winding path inside which might cost your life without a guide around.
