The meaning of Ashura Day

Ashura is a mirror that reflects all of humanity conceptions with its real aspects.
Ashura is revitalization that reveals the inner of ugly faces and stigmatizes the vicious persons.
Ashura is a garden with the crimson cypresses of martyrdom and the purple palms of selflessness, blood and a university that ever believer should see.
Ashura is the permanent fresh of soul, the representation of the remembrance of God and the recognition of light from darkness.
It is right that when the crimson shout of blood rose from the throat of Ashura, the echo in the tops of centuries and eras that reflected beyond the world appeared and remained in the hearts of the lovers of selflessness and martyrdom.
In the early morning of Ashura, two troops stood in lines across from each other. The troop of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) was thirty two persons riding horse and forty persons on foot and the troop of Umar Sad was thirty thousand persons. At first, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) sermonized riding a horse, advised the enemies and introduced himself so that they knew who they were going to fight.
In addition, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) had dug a well behind the tents, filled it with woods and fired it so that the enemies could not invade behind the front. According to a well-known document, the number of the companions of Imam was only seventy two persons, but It has also been said that they were 79, 90 139, 217 and 288 persons. According to the idea of the writer of this book, the number '' 139 persons'' is right, 106 non Bani Hashemi persons and 33 persons from Bani Hashem. Of course, according to an idea, seventy two persons were the martyrs that accompanied Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) from Medina and others joined him later on.
When Hor understood that the story of war was serious; therefore, he became regretful of his action and he and his son joined Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) secretly and Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) accepted his repent.
Then Hor stood across from the troop of blasphemy and censured them. They started throwing arrows toward Hor; hence, he came back.
To have the honor of the start of the war, Umar Sad threw an arrow toward the troop of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and the group war started. In this war, fifty soldiers of Imam Hussein martyred. After a dual war, the war among the combatants started such as:
The martyrdom of Hor: he took part in the war and after he killed some forces of the enemy, because his horse became weary, he came down his horse and fought and after he killed forty persons, he martyred.( in addition, the child of Hor had already martyred in a duel war).

2. The martyrdom of Moslem Ibn Usuje and Habib Ibn Mazaher:
These two old intimate friends were old people that lived in Kufa. Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) invited Habib to come Karbala with writing a letter and he obeyed the order of Imam with bringing Moslem and other persons (this matter has been mentioned in the events of the Muharram Sixth. in the day of Ashura, at first, Moslem martyred and then Habib martyred before the noon prayer. After his martyrdom, they threw his head in the front of his mother and he threw it in the front of the enemy like the mother of Vahab.

3. Jonade Ibn Hareth Ansari:

He was from Medina and fought beside Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) until he martyred. Then his son fought and martyred.

4. Jun, the servant of Abuzar:

Then he became of servant of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). When he wanted to fight, Imam freed him, but he did not let him fight. After he persisted on his participation at the war, Imam allowed him to fight. After he killed twenty five persons, he martyred.

5. Hujjaj Ibn Masrugh:

duel war.

6. Hefaf Ibn Mehnad

He was a gallant Shiite and the companion of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). He arrived Karbala after Imam Hussein martyred. Hence, he took out his sword and invaded the enemy. He killed a lot of persons and when the tyrants saw that he could not handle it, they invaded and martyred him after they circled him.

7. Suid Ibn Umarv

He was an old man that fainted due to a lot of injuries and when he came to consciousness, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) had martyred. He picked up the dagger and fought until he martyred and was the last martyr in Karbala.

The martyrs of Bani Hashem

1. Hazrat Ali Akbar

It has been narrated that he was eighteen years old or twenty seven years old. When Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) allowed him to enter the battlefield, he considered God as a witness '' O' God! As you witness, I am sending the persons that resembles the prophet (peace of Allah be upon him and his descendants) to the battlefield''. He killed one hundred and twenty persons. Then he came back and requested water. Imam Ali (peace be upon him) answered '' wait! The messenger of God (peace of Allah be upon him and his descendants) will give you water''. Then Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) gave him a ring in order that he sulked it and did not feel thirsty. Afterwards, he martyred.

2. Hazrat Ghasem Ibn Al-Hasan

It was a teenager that had not grown up enough, but he was mature enough to recognize death sweater than honey. In the time of martyrdom, he was beside the hoof of the horse and martyred in the hug of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

3. Abdullah Asghar

He was the other child of Imam Hasan (peace be upon him).when he understood that Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) was alone, he went to the battlefield. After his hand was cut, he martyred in the hug of Imam Hussein.

4. Un and Muhammad

They were the teenager children of Hazrat Zeinab (peace be upon her) and had come to help Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) according to the order of their father. When they were allowed, they came to the battlefield. At first, Muhammad martyred and then Un.

5. Hazrat Abbas

When Hazrat Abolfazl (peace be upon him) that was the greatest companion of Imam among Bani Hashem and the pioneer of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) requested to enter the battlefield, he stated '' the children are thirsty. Bring water and then go toward the battlefield''.
After the brothers of Hazrat Abas (peace be upon him) with names '' Abdullah'', '' Uthman'' and '' Jafar'' martyred, when he went toward Forat, four thousand persons circled him. He could get rid of them with killing eighty persons and reached water, but he did not drink it because he remembered that Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and the children were thirsty. He filled the goatskin full of water and went toward the tents. During way, at first, his right hand was cut and then his left hand was cut. Then they crushed sword on his pate, he fell on the earth. He started calling Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and he came to help him and martyred in the hug of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) came to help him, but he martyred in the hug of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
 

6. Abdullah Razei

He was a baby that was born in the day of Ashura. When Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) wanted to the battle field, he kissed him and he was martyred in the hug of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

7. Ali Asghar

It has been said that he was six months. The prophet brought him among the troop in order to seek water, but the tyrants martyred him with three arrows on his throat.
Deceased Tarihi states in the book '' Montakhab''
When Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) was alone without any companions in Karbala, jinns came to him in groups and stated ''
''O' Hussein! We are your companions and order us whatever you want if you order us to kill all of the forces of the enemy, we will definitely do it''.
Imam Hussein sought mercy for them from God and stated
'' God grants you reward. I do not disagree the order of my grandfather, the messenger of God (peace of Allah be upon him and his descendants) and he stated
'' The province of God about you is that you are killed and are covered in blood; your beard is drowned in blood and his head is cut from the back of the neck''.
Then the prophet stated to him
'' This was the province of God about me, but my grandfather stated the province of God in relation to my wives
'' The province of God is that your shrine that is immaculate and innocent ride camels without reins like prisoners and they are taken to their hometown. O' the king of Jinn! I am ready to be killed and accept that my wives and children are captured because God is the best judge.
Abu Mokhnaf has written
''Then Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) went to the blasphemy troop of cursed Umar Bin Sad and stated
'' O' the troop of Kufe and Sham and O' the group of vampires! Why are you fighting with me? What are my fault and my sin? Have I usurped the right of anyone and stolen the properties of someone or have I changed the religion and have established an innovation? Why are you trying to take revenge of me?
They, the unbeliever persons, said
''O' Hussein! We will murder you due to our animosity with your father, Imam Ali since he has killed our fathers and mothers''.
Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) cried a lot and looked around (left side and right side), but he saw none of his companions except some killed forces on the earth. He heaved a deep sigh and said loudly
No youths answered and he summoned his kin and stated
'' O' Ali Bin Al-Hussein! O' my stout youth and the transplant of my hope! O' Ali Akbar1 stand up and see your alone father. O' my pioneer and supporter! O' Abas, my brother! Stand up and help me ''.
They said nothing again and he stated
'' O' my companion and clergymen dears! Why aren't you answering although I have called you several times and why don't you help although I have summoned you several times. If you have slept, I want you to wake up in order to see how alone I am.
Maybe, you have no affection toward your Imam anymore and do not want to assist him.
O' my dear companions! Wake up and hear the voice of crying and moaning of the holy shrine of the prophet. They are mourning for you and are heaving sigh since you are not here. You were persons that said '' we will support the holy shrine of the prophet as long as we are alive. Why have you left him crying?
Wake up and save the children of the messenger of God from tyranny and blasphemy and remove vice from the family of the prophet. Then Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) apologized the martyrs due to the mercy of God and stated
''O' dears! Sleep since the tyrannical world has made you kill and the traitor world has betrayed you. Thus, I know you are not the companions that leave Hussein alone and leave his wives in the hands of the enemy.
Hence, you should know that I am worried about the women and young girls. I have no choice to leave them alone and join you''.
He elegized his faithful companions
'' After Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) expressed his remarks completely, but they did not influence them and they became more disobedient''.
Then he stated to Umar Bin Sad
'' Today I let you choose one of these three conditions''.
