In 1984, several other science fiction movies were made in relation with world disaster and the atomic bomb and in most of the films the Soviet Union and communist ideology have played a major role.
In the TV movie "clues" directed by "Michael Jackson" we face a documentary film that shows a mass destruction of nuclear weapons and their effect on working-class of city Sheffield in England and long-term effects of nuclear war on civilization. The story of the movie happens during the Cold War, in mid1990. In Sheffield of England, there is an Air Force Base with steel and energetic chemical plants and meanwhile the Soviet Union and attacked Iran and has plan to make it as a part of their lands. America, Britain and other NATO countries and the United Nations, angrily condemned the Soviet invasion and started military action on the same base. In Sheffield life is going on in a normal way until in one spring day, the Soviet bombs there without notice and destroys most of the city and its inhabitants. The results is a turbulent world, without public peace, without healthy food, utilities and survivors cannot produce them and they are just trying to earn a living temporarily. In the film Hollywood has raised its counted goals on Iran, communism, nuclear war, conflict of the two superpowers and so on. We know that in the eighties that the Islamic Revolution was young and new and dealt with a lot of internal and external problems and it was in certain conditions that it could not be one of the goals of communism. First, the Soviet Union in those years was fighting in Afghanistan and the Taliban; Secondly, it was always trying to pretend to fulfill its obligations to control weapons of mass destruction and treaties of "Salt", but America in those years was considered as sophisticated enemy of Islamic Republic of Iran, especially after the hostage-taking in the nest of espionage by the students following the path of the Imam, and it was always trying to dominate this country again and did not refrain any plot. Thus, such a narrative in the form of a legendary war film cannot be based on fact.
In Australia in the same year a movie that was called "overnight resistance" directed by "John Dowaygan" was created. In the film, four teenagers in a cinema in Sydney are surprised of the news that a nuclear war in Eastern Europe started and try to make the best methods of survival and shelter that this is an export subject of Hollywood to other countries with guidance of English counselors.
Another television movie, which is product of 1984, is "countdown to the mirror " directed by "Frederick Barrick"; it is a drama documentary that has used imaginative reports depicting crisis in the Middle East leading to nuclear confrontation of America and the Soviet Union. "Mirror" word in the title is password of controlled aircraft of Strategic Air Command that should be used in case of nuclear war. In the film, actors such as "Scott Glenn" and "Michael Murphy" play a role. In a chapter of the film, we see Scott Glenn on an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf, which is very similar to the scene that "Peter Arnett," "John Halymn" and TV group of "CNN" that in the Middle East war covered the invasion of Kuwait from "Al-Rasheed hotel" in Baghdad.
We see that the Hollywood cinema, especially in the 1990s, and especially before the Persian Gulf War with America's presence in the war between Iraq and Kuwait, due to the conflict between the Palestinian people and the occupier regime, the war between the two superpowers and battles raise in a different way to realize their sinister goals, at least in the form of myth and imagination. However, it is observed that at the time due to the similarity of scenes, they have had have scenario of 6 years after the war in Iraq and Kuwait in mind.
Other film made in 1984 is a documentary called "in our hands" which is about anti-nuclear protests and marches in June 1982 in New York City. In the film we see the lectures, musical performances of protesters and artists, including "Orson Welles", "Meryl Streep", "Roy Scheider" and others and no one is mentioned as director of the movie, but at the end many people are thanked. Except for this film, another documentary was made later in protest against the use of nuclear energy even for peaceful purposes in the 80s.
"Blocked Valley" is name of a film which is directed by "Chuck Bill" in 1986. The story is that an atomic physics scientist who knows that it is supposed Halley firestones cross near the earth, one day before the event is trying to prevent gathering of nuclear waste in the valley of storing them facing varied events.
In this incident and adventurous film "Stephen Collins," "Janet Julian" and "Lance Henriksen" play a role.
In 1986, comedy and horror movie "mysterious class" was made by "Richard Devlin" and "Samuel Weil". In the film, two high school students in America noticed the unusual events that happen around the school. They discover that the events are happening in nearby nuclear plant, although plant officials deny any issue. Soon one of the female students gets pregnant and gives birth to a strange creature that thirsts for blood and immediately began to eat people at the school. Students decide to fight with him. The vulgar strange film is merely aimed at attracting audience for profits and does not need any other political commentary and reviews.
"Kids of deadlock" film was made in 1986 and it was directed by "Juan Akalaytiz". The film is the story of the genesis and development of nuclear energy in the form of a film. The script of the film is written by "Mabu Maynyz" and its beautiful soundtracks are made by "David Byrne" and "Philip Glass". Years of the 1990s are time of peak of dealing with nuclear energy, nuclear power plants and giving mythical and imaginative aspects to the category; with the aim that control of this massive force should only be applied by the authorities and scientists in America.
In another movie called "Miracle Mile" in 1988 directed by "Steve Dobarnat", we see a young man who is in love with a young girl in Los Angeles. Miracle mile is the region in where they live and the events of the story happen there. They will go on date, but the young girl could not go and when young man in searching for him, she realizes that a nuclear war is going to happen soon between America and the Soviet Union. Since then he frantically is searching for the young girl to get her out of Los Angeles. In the film, "Anthony Edwards" and "Mare Winningham" play a role. Spending time of possible dreams about war in Hollywood is usually based on a formula with emotional issues, and of course, Soviet will always play the evil, but the launch of disasters and war between the two superpowers usually root in the West, and we can see this repeatedly in various films.
Finally, in 1989, we see TV movie "Night Breaker" director by "Peter Markell". The story of this is that the doctor "Alexander Brown" (played by Martin Sheen), who recently won the prize of medicine innovations, meets a former US Army General and he tells "Brown" that in a decade 1960, he has been the subject of nuclear testing in the Nevada desert and were still suffering from it because of radiation. Then the film goes back to the past. Brown (played by Emilio Estevez) is a young psychoanalyst and is guest of America's Army. Soldiers are routinely and daily in explosion of extremely high atomic radiation based on schedule; "Brown" and his partner interviewed soldiers. The soldiers show a kind of insouciance and recklessness in the face of this great danger. With a parallel montage the film shows scenes of young "Alexander Brown" and old "Alexander Brown" in thirty years later after the nuclear tests. In the end, we see that this psychiatrist doctor wants to reveal things about atrocities that he had witnessed but he faces threat and terror. In the film "Lea Thompson" and "Melinda Delon" are also casting. The film is based on original historical events and by a documentary view, but by the direct order of Bush Sr. in 1990. It was removed from global representation; Revealing aspects that would have been along with the scandal of United States for the new generation.
Here we can see that the results of the trials that took place after World War II have also affected America as well, but as usual, despite the secrecy done, some parts of it have been exposed, so since 1990, the show has been banned. In fact the movie shows that America's crimes about atomic bomb are so intense that even they will cause trouble for military men, and they can be victims as well.
The decade of the eighties ends with production of legendary science films about the nuclear energy, nuclear weapons and the catastrophe of a nuclear world war and the cases find special and decisive aspect in the Nineties.
