The end of the world as a result of the destruction of the Earth and the loss of life rose from that time in the movies and in science - fiction films and to the late 1980s, this was due to addressing the knowledge and technology of nuclear power and the atomic bomb. This issue was ultimately a dangerous and destructive problem that no country was allowed to pursue these issues but advanced countries (America and to some extent the UK and France).
End of the world or the threat of this event for mankind has always been something terrible in video or written format and the issue was complex and had different attitudes for the filmmakers by the late 1980s. Some have looked at it due to the involvement of a religious leader or elected to salvation or influence on humans and in the story of films, they were like unfolding God's signs and symptoms. Another group of filmmakers also knew this event a possible one and provided films with fascinating themes with the help of special measures and documentaries from natural disasters.
Scientific - fiction cinema had a special look at religion and divine issues from the years. Events of the end of the world in these films were sometimes because of the monsters created by human hands, fighting the nature, intense nuclear explosions, exploring unknown areas and things like that, and sometimes they attributed the root of these events out of the Earth. But as it was mentioned, in some of the videos God's will is to endanger Earth completely, but at the last moment they shall be saved. In most fiction - fiction films doomsday and end of the world and the final judgment were synonymous terms.
The first use of this context can be seen in the experimental film "solar death" made by "Germaine Dulac" in 1920. Religious films such as Noah's Ark made by "Michael Moritz" in 1929 and religious movies after that directly or indirectly showed the presence of God in human life. In the decade of 1940 and 1950, sometimes we see hidden or visible Divine presence in American cinema. For example, in the film "Gabriel Over the White House" (1933 m.) we see Gabriel went to help President America and solved problems of the country and in the film "the next voice you hear" (1949 m.) God helped the man and changed his life.
Sixties begins
1960 decade started with a kind of contradiction social issues ofThe United States. While all Western countries raised peace, the Korean War began and continued for 3 years. There was great wealth and opportunities for a group in community in this conditions and poverty was so high among the other group. All people talked about freedom in speech, while segregation was plagued many people. While on the surface, a relative calmness reigned everywhere, fear of nuclear war by the Soviet had affected people severely. In primary and secondary schools in specific hours practiced the atomic bombing to how to cope with it. They took shelter under the table or bench and in open environment they used the floor of the building' side. In those years which was the beginning of the Cold War between the two superpowers of East and West, Society of America and Europe was subjected to new issues such as the civil rights movement, life in the suburbs, a new generation of rebellious young, pop music especial for the youth, a shared culture, rock and roll dance and the advent of television, and they were all accidents of the sixties.
After the end of World War II, America and the Soviet Union were actually suspected to each other and were afraid in fact. Each of them had specific ideas about the future development of the world. Communist leaders apparently followed the class struggles and the principle of equality of all human beings, to share in the ownership and decentralization of power in the central government and wanted revolution and communism to overcome everywhere. While the Americans, who followed the capitalist, saw communist countries such as large prisons knew that they had acted to prevent their spread. They feared of another war like World War II and this result in the Cold War. American army remained in Western Europe on the pretext of preventing the advance of the Russia. America was the richest world power and could provide weapons and troops for Western European countries to defend them, and above all, America was the only country which had the atomic bomb as the most powerful weapon. Although Soviet Russia had more troops, but it did not dare to attack, because America argued that it can flatten all Russian cities by the bomb.
"Harry Truman", America's president, also knew communism as evil force that was able to suppress individual freedom. He promised people in his speeches to support "free people of the world" everywhere and it was a political method of America. "Marshall Plan", which was by announced the Secretary of State of America, surrendered a number of non-communist countries that were not among the Iron Curtain of communism as a belt and they formed "NATO" or "North Atlantic Treaty" together by the center of France .
Before the year 1951, Korean War occurred and America entered the war in favor of South Korea against North Korea, apparently to prevent full control of Communists over the territory as United Nations forces and even went to the Chinese border. American commander of the UN forces, "General MacArthur", who was hero of the Second World War, had planned to bomb militant strongholds in Manchuria, China. The situation was very critical and a re-debate and confrontation raised with the Soviet Union and the use of atomic bombs, but General MacArthur was fired by the order of "Truman", and peace negotiations began in 1952.
Americans could acquire friend countries from within the Cold War in Asia and defending the region from the spread of communism. The alliance was called "Southeast Asia Treaty Organization or cytotoxic" and America and Middle Eastern countries became united in this case. The main goal of the alliance was to create a series of military bases along the southern borders of the Soviet Union to prevent the spread of communism in South and to protect Western countries' needed oil.
