Elf Chimney, From Zanjan to America

Elf chimneys are located at 20 km to Mahneshan, 120 km to Zanjan, Iran.
This natural phenomenon is called "Hoodoo" in terms of geology, and originally is referred to a mushroom - shaped rock that emerged as a result of erosion. It is like a tall and thin minarets that another stone is on it.
Hodoos are mostly seen in America. As an example of those is the Bryce Canyon area that also have famous images. These natural phenomena are also seen in the west of the Mississippi River and the east of Rocky Mountains in America and Canada.

In Kopet Dag in Turkey, there are people who live within them. In Serbia and Taiwan these sights have also been seen. In the French Alps this phenomenon is called "women with made hair".
In the village of Verdeej near Vardavard area, there are also examples that due to their shape and type of erosion they are called hoodoo. But only in Zanjan they have been called Elf chimies, and there is not a certain reason for it, perhaps it is because of ancient beliefs of people in this area.
