The life of Imam JAFAR SADEGH, can be verified and studied from various aspects, but what is more focused, is his vast dimension of knowledge and education, which is due to the conditions of that era, had chance to express them. He made the biggest Islamic science university and tried to educate many students. Some of his students became leader of their own era. Some of the experts and professors say, we can`t find such type of cultural organization in whole history of Shia. Imams thought many generations and by his ideas influence many other principles. Imam created an enriched religious culture. In this field we have made some discussions with different experts and you will know their views.
Flagship of Islamic science:
The life of Imam SADIGH, started from 83 HIJRI and ended in 148 HIJRI. Therefore he has seen many caliphs in his life, and face many situations. He accompanied his grandfather Imam SAJAD, till the age of 11, and up to age of 31, lived with his father, Imam BAGHER, in his discussions and class sessions. And when he reached to the position of leadership of Shia, directed his efforts and movements in promotion and propagation of knowledge and continued the religious ideas of his father and holy prophet (PBUH).
HOJATOL ISLAM YUSEFI GHARAVI, a professor in university of QOM city says: Imam JAFAR, was with his dear father for a long period of 35 years, at the university of AHLE BEIT (family of holy prophet), and at the beginning of youth age, saw the collapse of OMAVIYEH regime, and when ABASSI rulers took the power, Imam was having good chances to attended the classes in MEDINA mosque. These classes and also outside classes were under the guidance of his dear father. According to historical sources, hundreds of scientists were coming from other Islamic regions to attend the sessions. Imam JAFAR, was learning secrets of the universe, and everything that the prophet had inherited from his father, he accompanied his father up to last moment of his life, and was in activities of learning, every subject which was in service of Islamic knowledge, till the year 114 HIJRI, when his father left this world. At this position Imam took the leadership of Islamic society in his hand.
YUSEFI GHARAVI pointed out about the life period of Imam which was the time of struggle among previous government rulers who were fighting with ABBASI governors to take back their previous position,
And also when ABBAS caliphs, started to rule, they have opened a new front of artifice, discord and digress in Islamic regions.
In this position, tried to attend in ideology and culture ways. Instead of choosing a military action. He wanted to advertise more and more about religious thoughts. Imam wanted to close the interference of non-Islamic ideas, during the life of Imam JAFAR SADEGH, translation movement started from Greece, Persian, Hindi, to Arabic. So, doubt parody words started to enter religious issues. Some doubt bombers such as EBN ABI ALUJAB and ABUSHAKER DEHYANI, openly were attacking believes of the people, and by this way were pointing to the divine thoughts. So Imam SADEGH, in addition to internal religious discussions, started to do external religious discussions. The subjects which were selected to teach were: necessity of the religion, proof of God, force and select, justice and avoid. So by this way, dear Imam was the man who started to teach real science and real Islam against pagan ideas. He stood against a big wave of duplicate makers and false groups like GHALAT, ZANDAGHIYAN. This action was one of the main scientific and cultural activities of holy Imam.
Imam SADEGH, founder of biggest Islamic university:
As we have most important characteristics of holy imam is his deep and wide scientific character, and his efforts in preaching the real religious thoughts. He established the biggest Islamic university in his own era, and thought different Islamic sciences. As historians are declaring, we can`t find similar university in whole history.
GHARAVI continuous: upon the reacts of holy imam, this scientific revolution, entered to most far places in the Islamic states. And lot of clergies approached him to learn his valuable subjects. Some of famous historians are mentioning that, Imam`s students were 4000 students. Famous students of Imam have written 400 books out of questions which they asked Imam and got proper answer for them. Some of Islamic thinkers such as KOLEINI, SADUGH and TOUSI. Made these books as their resources to write other books or answer to their own students. Students have learned many HADITH from Imam and number of HADITH, which they got from Imam JAFAR SADEGH were more than other Imams. Many persons have distributed the said books throughout the world. And many foreigners used these knowledge for their own use. Students of dear Imam were not only Shia people. Followers of other religions also were among his students.one of them was leader of HANAFI SUNNIS, by name ABU HANIFEH. He attended the classes of Imam for a period of 2 years. This man mentioned that, in those two years, he learned the basics of science. Another man called as MOHAMMAD BEN MOSLEM has narrated 16 thousands from Imam JAFAR, and this is another proof for vast knowledge of our holy Imam.
We can see in the book of “NAJASHI MEN” written by HASAN BEN ALI BEN ZEID VASHA, who was one of the students of Imam REZA, was quoted that: I saw 900 students of IMAM SADEGH`s students in KUFA mosque, 20 years after martyrdom of Imam. Even though they were very old but were busy in teaching the ideas of martyr about religious subjects.
Resuscitator of ALAVI SHIITE:
Doctor ABDOLHOSEIN KHOSROPANAH, the director of philosophy group in Islamic thought and culture house says: at the time of Imam SADEGH, different current of thoughts and sects such as: SUFIYEH, MARJAEH and KHAVAREJ were at the pick of their activities, so imam was attending different meetings and was discussing with different sects to show the holistic in front of the inconsiderable thoughts. So we have to say, Imam is the resuscitator of ALAVI SHIITE.
DOCTOR KHOSROPANAH continuous:
Imam had 3 type of students: first type were those who were using the classes of Imam but did not ask any question. Second type were those who were asking question and were satisfied with single answer for every question. And third group were those who were not convinced with Imam`s response and were continuously asking more questions, such as: ZARAREH, ABA BASIR and HOSHAM, were parts of this category. Imam was not only theorizing in training his students, but also was encouraging the students to involve in intellectual issues, such as HESHAM BEN HEKAM. This man was one of best in theology in his own time and when an atheist wanted to create a doubt, Imam was sending him to HESHAM to get the suitable answer. Imam had variety of subjects in dealing with students and was always reacting in positive manner with them and was trying to prove an issue. The thoughts of Imam were in the path of GHADIR hadith. In the said hadith, the holy prophet gathered the leaders of Muslims in the field of GHADIR and announced: oh, you who believed in only one God, by the order of God, I completed your religion. In fact the responsibility of Imam JAFAR SADEGH was to complete the religion.
Flourishing era of Islamic civilization:
According to what was said, it must be acknowledged that, Imam got the opportunity to reveal what the messenger of Allah had entrusted to him. He distributed the divine law in the community. So we can say, era of IMAM JAFAR SADEGH, was the time of flourishing the theology, debate, hadith and narrations.
YUSEFI GHARAVI continuous: Imam started his movement, when OMAVI and ABASSI regimes formed an artificial form of Islam and if Imam was not constructing his own scientific movement, Islam was going to disappear. But by his efforts, Islam emerged as a scientific and thoughtful religion. Imam started a new path in all sections of Islam, as JAHEZ who was one of the leaders of Sunni members, says: IMAM JAFAR SADEGH, removed all the knowledge from the earth and opened the doors for the people which was hidden before him. And the world flourished with his activities.
GHARAVI at the end declares: importance of Imam`s intellectual and cultural activities is that, if he was not showing the real Islam to us, we could not benefit from correct rules of SHIA.
