Attractions for village wanderers

Although today villages are not as pristine as they were in the past, the pleasant climate and the nostalgia of roaming around in a beautiful nature is what city-dwellers miss the most.
Beautiful and wonderful villages in Iran are not limited. The lifestyle of villagers in villages like Kandovan and outstanding architecture in villages of Masooleh, Abyaneh and Oraman where houses are built on steep hills one above the other, could be a factor to draw tourists. Since nature plays a big role in villages, the best time to pay visits to villages is in spring.

A heaven in smoke

The village of Afjeh, 5 km from Tehran, is one of the historic and spectacular villages in Lavasanat. It has now turned into a summer village for city dwellers. The old texture of the village was destroyed as a result of construction of villas and modern apartments. In the village, there are broad gardens and pastures. One main highlight is carrots field which receives countless nature wanderers in spring and summer.
Among other attractions are Paschovik and Moab waterfalls and a 400-year-old plane tree which lies near Saghakhane. On the northern side of the village in a wide garden , there are ruins of a palace which belongs to Nasereddin Shah from Qajar. Sarband castle dating back to the second or third century AH has also doubled the richness of the ancient village.

Ancient village

Shivand is an ancient village which draws many visitors to the region. Lying in Izeh , it dates from around 2,300 years ago, according to the remaining relics. Among its historical spots are an old inscription and Safavid caravansary. It lies on the edge of the dam lake of Karoon 3.
Around it, there are oak woodlands. Also there are abundant natural attractions such as the waterfall and the dam lake of Karoon 3 . It is surrounded by high mountains like Mongesht which attracts many mount climbers from across the country every year. Swimming, boat riding, water skiing and fishing are among fun things you can do there. To reach it, you should take an hour from Izeh.
Dosari is not a familiar name, but it can be an appropriate option for those who are village wanderers and have put it as their main enjoyable entertainment.
To reach it, you should pack to go for Jiroft. It lies 5 km on the road to Kahnuj. It is perched within limestone mountains and enjoys a unique geographical location. It’s mild, with a rich soil and flows of water going through rocks to the north of the village . It’s a flourishing spot for gardening and farming. The main job of the villagers is gardening. Most of the gardens grow citrus and dates. So if you visit there in Esfand and Farvardin, you’ll smell fragrant citrus auranitum and oranges everywhere.

Garma Rud , a cold village

In the end of Alamut lies the village of Garma Rud. You can choose the destination once you are 130 km from Ghazvin. Also known as Garmab rud, it is almost where Alamut ends which is bounded by Noizar (or Meimun Dej)castle and regions of Zereshk and Gachalat from north and to Avanak cols from south.
Excavations of the surrounding hills show that it dates from the Medes Era. In 3 cemeteries of the village, there are interesting gravestones , over 200 years old. It has 5 old mills. Among its highlights are Alamut and Garma Rud rivers , a waterfall and two huge rocks in the northeast of the village known as conical twins . Water sports like swimming, boat riding, and fishing are among the things you can enjoy doing.

Step by step to get to the village

2 hours from the city of Sanandaj , 65 km from the city of Marivan lies a village named Oraman which draws countless tourists in spring and summer .

It resembles Masooleh and has houses on steep hills lying one above the other.

The materials used in houses are entirely stone; no mortar at all. What doubles its beauty is the gardens lying between houses. Soaring Zagros Mountains, Sirvan river, rich vegetation, and abundant springs are among attractions which are must-see. The most prominent historical attraction is Pir Shaliar mausoleum where several hundred year-old rituals are held every year in winter.
Filband in Mazandaran is Cloud’s land. It lies 2,700 meters above sea level . In winter it’s inhabitable as it lies in a mountainous region but in hot seasons it turns into a summer village and receives many tourists and mount climbers. Mineral springs are the main reasons why the inhabitants are well-built and sturdy.
It features wonderful natural landscapes ; some people know it as a heaven for photographers. If you travel there in autumn or spring, you’ll get to witness all weather conditions like the sun, clouds, fog, rain , snow , hail,and thunderstorm and even the rainbow in one single day. To visit the clouds’ land you should leave for Mazandaran, Band Pei district in the city of Babol.
