The bazaar of Tabriz was recorded as the largest enclosed collection in the world on the list of national sites in 1354, solar calendar.
You'll appreciate it when you are lucky enough to stand up under the ceiling of the one-kilometer bazaar.
It is indeed expected of a city which was located on the silk road where the goods from east and west were exchanged.
The French Sharden has recognised it as the greatest bazaar in Asia and adored its charming domes and spectacular arches, calling its octagonal space of Gheisariyeh as the most beautiful part in the whole bazaar.
Also Ibn Batuteh writes down,Tabriz bazaar was one of the best bazaars I've ever seen across the world.
The broad diversity of brick structures connected to each other, its architectural style, plentiful Saras( large rooms in bazaars), Timcheh (shopping centers), the school and mosque are all special highlights of the bazaar.
The earthquake, happened in 1193 AH right when Karim Khan passed away, devastated it altogether in addition to damaging other ancient sites of the city.
But the skilled engineers rebuilt it and the current building dates back to the late Zand and Ghajar periods. It consists of several lines, Timcheh and Saras. Amir Timcheh, shopping center, boasts the largest dome and Mozaffariyeh Timcheh is the most splendid with respect to its architecture.
