Babolsar, one of the cities in Mazandaran Province, in the north of Iran is located between Mazandaran Sea and Alborz Mountain range. Its center is Babolsar.
The city 's population is 124,323 which comprises 4/4% of the whole population of the province. It covers an area of 1350 hectares on the estuary of the river of Babolrud on the southern bank of the Caspian Sea at the longitude of 52°39'30" and the latitude of 36°43'.

Climate
The city lies on a mild-hot area.
The average annual temperature is 4.18 degrees Celsius and the average annual precipitation is 791 mm with a humidity of 79% and is considered one of the most pleasant regions of the country.
Name
The place used to be called Mashhadsar. Some believed that it's oldest name was Mashhad Sabz which means Green Mashhad. It was called Mashhad since Imamzadeh Ebrahim and Imamzadeh Ebrahim in Amol, were located. Also it is taken from the name of the current Mashhad. Green means freshness, liveliness and beauty of the region. The term has gradually changed into Mashhadsar.
Babolsar, a beautiful tourism spot in Mazandaran and a beach city, is 60 km from Sari.
A lovely and abundant river runs through the city known as Babolrud on which 2 beautiful bridges are placed. It pours into the Caspian Sea.
Boats on the pier around the river have added to the beauty of the place and the reflection of the lights on the bank of the river creates an imaginary atmosphere at night. The city also offers sea buses.
The highlights and recreational resorts in the city are plenty. There are fun opportunities for rowing boat and the place offers parking lots, suites and beach houses.
Beautiful residential areas, the park of the Islamic Council of the city, the Beach Park of Babolrud all create great moments for the visitors.
Among its historic buildings is the Mausoleum of Imamzadeh Ebrahim and Bibi Roghayye, a pilgrim site.
The suspending metal bridge of Babolsar is also another attraction in the beach city which allows cars to pass. There is also another small bridge for pedestrians.
The ancient hills with pottery utensils are in abundance.
Among them are Rajab Kati, Ahmad Kati, Ali Jan Kati, Mohammad Ali Kati, Abdollah Kati, Chamaz Kati, Isa Kati, Kati Kherad Mard, Ghale Ahmad Kala. The greenery is well worth a visit.
Behnamir, a district in Babolsar, is also another tourist attraction which enjoys green lush forests with Kid's Park near the sea, making the intact region more charming.
