The purpose of the educational interpretation of the Quran is to explain the used meaning of educational verses and to reveal their serious purposes based on rules, sources, and valid evidences.
APPROACHES:
The educational interpretation can be presented in three approaches:1) Explaining and expressing the educational verses of Quran that include a great part of verses will be in the sequential interpretation;
2) The deduction of educational system of the holy Quran that includes foundations, principles, purposes, educational methods…will be done as a topical interpretation;
3) The educational look at the holy Quran about these approaches of educational messages can be deduced from all verses of the holy Quran.
The main notification: the educational interpretation of the holy Quran is a mid-field interpretation that includes the common elements of educational sciences and the holy Quran. Moreover, some educational elements that are not acceptable by the holy Quran are ignored, and some new elements (like purification) are entered in the area of educational sciences. Therefore, the educational interpretation of the Quran can result in the new science in this area.
The elements of educational interpretation:
In the educational interpretation of the holy Quran, these elements should be noticed:
1) Explaining the meanings and the purposes of Quranic verses with regard to educational process;
2) Using educational sciences to explain the verses of the holy Quran;
3) Paying attention to the educational dimension of the Quran in explaining the interpretative points;
4) Explaining lessons and the educational messages of the holy Quran;
5) Using the verses of the holy Quran to direct the foundations of Humanities Sciences;
6) The educational theorization according to the verses of the holy Quran;
7) Deducing purposes, foundations, methods, and the educational system from the holy Quran;
8) Paying attention to the educational points of the holy Quran for fostering the dimensions and educational areas of human such as: rational dimension, emotional and…).
Notification:
Some mentioned elements will be done in the educational and sequential interpretation and other elements in the educational and topical interpretation. For example, the deduction of Quranic educational system cannot be done without paying attention to all verses and their classification in a topical interpretation. But the educational and sequential interpretation is prior to educational and topical interpretation because as long as educational points have not been obtained from each and every verse, it is not possible to classify them in a topical interpretation systematically.Background:
The ancient interpretations of the holy Quran has noticed to educational matters more or less, but the new interpretations have been paid attention more such as "in shadow of the Quran", "Nimūnah", "from Hudaal_Quran ", "from vahye al-Quran", "Nūr", and "Mihr interpretation of the holy Quran".At the present time, some interpretations have been published as the title "educational interpretation", such as: the educational interpretation of Quran of Hossein Mirzākhāni (1369) and "Al-tafsir Al-tarbavi of the holy Quran", "Anvāz Al-bar(1428).
In the first case, the educational approach is not with an special meaning and it is ethical, mystical, religious, philosophic,…interpretation . The second interpretation that has educational approach has presented the educational points briefly.
For example, he has mentioned five educational points for Hamd surah. They include:
A) God loves praise and thank;
B) The benediction manner is that God’s eulogy was done before it.
C) Do not worship anyone except God and do not seek help from anyone except him.
D) The confession to God’s blessing is a way to follow the pious people and those who God blessed.
E) Asking guidance (salvation) from God makes human move in the way of pious people, and the necessity of fear from deviance is to disagree with the Jews, the Christians, and other deviants.
METHODOLOGY:
The educational interpretation of the holy Quran has foundations, methods, rules, and manners.1) The foundations of the educational interpretation of the Quran are the same as the foundations of public (general) interpretation of the holy Quran, such as: the possibility of understanding and interpretation of the Quran and its permission, non-distortion of the holy Quran,…
In addition to it, the possibility of the educational interpretation, the existence of points and educational methods in the holy Quran, and Quranic systematic education are the foundations of the educational interpretation, which should be proved in their own turn.
2) In the educational interpretation, all correct methods of the Quran interpretation have been used such as: the Quran to Quran, narrative, rational, inner, scientific, and religious interpretation and the interpretation to vote should be avoided. Of course, in this kind of interpretation, the inner method has more applications as scholar (Allāmah) Maʻrifat (God bless him) has mentioned. He has suggested four stages for taking core from the holy Quran:
A) Attaining the purpose of the verse;
B) Abrogation of characteristic from non-effective features of the purpose;
C) Attaining the general rule (the message of the verse)
D) Comparing rule (principle) with new meaning in every time;
Of course, this rule and purpose should be from the purposes of the potential meaning. The verse case should be its meaning; otherwise, it becomes personal deduction:
1) The educational interpretation is interdisciplinary discussion. Hence, the principles of mid-field discussions should be observed. For example, the person who wants to work in this area should be acquainted with the interpretative area and the educational sciences.
2) The necessary interpretive rules in the public (general) interpretation are necessary, but the rule of taking core has been used vastly here;
3) The administrative method of the educational interpretation can be sequential or topical. "Educational and topical interpretation" is necessary for the deduction of all purposes, foundations, and the educational system of the Quran and "sequential educational interpretation" is necessary to obtain the points and the messages of the holy Quranic verses.
Sample of educational interpretation (Hamd surah):
In fact, our purpose of expressing the educational interpretation of Hamd surah is to present suggestion and design in this area and to achieve to the prosperity by surveying and criticizing authorities and a new step be created in the presentation of mid-field interpretations.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ(1)
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَلَمِينَ(2) الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ(3) مَلِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ(4)إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَ إِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ(5)
اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ(6) صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيرِْ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَ لَا الضَّالِّينَ(7)
"In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful".
All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds* the all-beneficent, the all merciful* Master of the Day of Judgment* you alone do we worship and your Aid alone do we seek* Guide on the straight path* the path of those whom you have blessed (salvation), not incurred your wrath, nor are astray”*
The educational methods in Hamd surah:
Many educational methods have been presented in the educational sciences. In the holy Quran, about one hundred educational methods have been referred which some of them are in Hamd surah. The most important methods include:A) The indirect suggestion ( indirect education(:
God usually speaks to human directly, but he speaks to himself with human’s tongue. In other words, he does not say the matters that he wants to teach directly, but he inspires him/her indirectly, for example:1) The indirect education of thanks giving way (All praise belongs to Allah);
2) The indirect education of seeking help from God (your Aid alone do we seek);
3) The indirect education of choosing the right path (Guide us to the straight path;(
4) The indirect education of how to speak with God at the time of benediction and prayer (firstly, the mention of excellent attributes of God, then saying the applications);
5) The indirect education about the contents of desires from God, or requesting at the time of benediction and prayer (Guide us.(
B) Presenting a pattern and accepting a pattern:
One of educational methods is the presentation of positive and complete patterns to learners. God in Hamd surah introduces those whom blessed them as pattern and human can follow their path as God’s straight. God has presented these patterns in other verses such as: prophets, truthful persons, martyrs and pious people, (Nisā surah, verse69); prophet Ibrāhīm (Mumtahinah, verse4) and Islam prophet (Ahzāb, verse21).1) Encouraging learner:
In Hamd surah, "God’s blessings" have been considered to encourage people to the straight path. They have been given to people who follow the straight path so that human understands that if he/she moves in the straight path, he/she will achieve to God’s blessing.2) Warning:
In Hamd Surah, the method of warning and promising has been used two times.First: (Master of the Day of Judgment) warns a learner that the resurrection day is to come, so you should be attentive about your deeds.
Second: (not those who have incurred the wrath nor are astray) is a kind of God’s warning for those who deviate from the straight path. In other words, if someone follows them, he/she will be involved in God’s anger.
3) Establishing the direct relationship between teacher and learner:
The Hamd surah is the manifestation of direct bill and coo with single deity, praising him and reminding his excellent attributes and affection and requesting him and submitting oneself to him.The learner in this surah has direct relationship with teacher(trainer) and this has considerable effect on education of learner because the education is performed in his presence, and the learner sees himself in the presence of God in the way that he/ she can reply him and seeks his help.
4) Tendency to group:
In Hamd surah, "collective devotion" and "seeking help collectively" have been presented (you alone do we worship, and your aid alone do we seek). The message of this verse is that you do not care about only yourself and do not only bless yourself, but deal with the collective devotion and collective benediction.6) Showing God’s mercy:
The exalted God has the attributes of beauty like merciful and compassionate as he has the attributes of glory like all mighty, revenge, etc…the Hamd surah is the manifestation of God’s beauty and emphasizes on God’s mercy. In other words, God’s mercy is prior to his anger. This method teaches the learner that God’s mercy should be priority to his anger. Therefore, God’s mercy and attributes of beauty should be considered, and the affection and mercy should be emphasized in the education.6) COMPARISON:
In Hamd surah, the path of those who have been blessed and the path of those who have been gone astray have been compared with each other so that the learner can compare them and choose the correct path. In other words, the indirect comparison method has been used.7) REASONING:
Lord of all the worlds” is the reason of “All praise belongs to Allah”. It means that God teaches the learner indirectly that he/she should seek the reason of everything even though he/she should have reason for praise and eulogy of Allah.Choosing those who have been blessed can be considered to reasons because we choose their path, enjoy God’s blessing and do not suffer from God’s anger.
