In ancient times, there were a brother and a sister where were living with each other. They had nothing from the properties of the world. The brother went hunting every day in the morning and returned back in the evening and the sister welcomed him and took from him what he had hunted and cleaned and cooked it in order they together to eat for dinner.
One day that the brother as before had gone for hunting, the sister noticed a sound came out of the well. He tried to listen to it carefully and noticed it was a voice similar to the voice of human being. She went and brought her veil. She suspended the veil in the well and it became heavy, she pulled it off. He saw that an ugly yellow demon came out of the well. By seeing him, the girl feared so much. But as the demon saw her fell in her love and made her to become his wife. The girl accepted this marriage due to the fear.
The demon feared from her brother. So every night he went into the well and made the girl to take him out of the well every day. Thus in days when the girl's brother was not present in home, the demon came out of the well and became busy with the girl.
One day the demon said the girl that she should pretend that she was sick and she should say her brother that her treatment was the grape from the garden of the white demon. When the brother came, the sister, as in other days, went to welcome him but showed him herself unwell. The brother became upset due to the sickness of her sister. He rested and in the evening when they were eating dinner, the sister said her brother: "I am sick and the physician had said that the cure of my sickness is the grape from the garden of the white demon." The brother accepted to fetch the grape.
In the early morning, the brother went to bring the grape. The brother rode the horse and went and went until he reached the garden of the white demon. He tied his horse at the wall and went up the wall and jumped into the garden. As the white demon saw the brother, yelled and came forward. The brother was brave, so he grappled with the demon. They were wrestling with each other for an hour and at last the brother took the demon and lifted him and hit him onto the ground and sat on his chest and took out hid dagger to cut off his head. The demon said that their custom was that they should wrestle two times and everyone who defeated the opponent for the second time would cut off the head of the opponent. The boy did not agree. When the demon noticed that the boy would not agree, yelled deeply. His brother, the yellow demon, heard the yell of his brother and said the girl: "Oh my God! Your brother killed my brother." But the girl was happy. The brother killed the white demon and picked some grape and returned back.
After a few days the demon began to nag again that he should kill her brother. He wanted her to pretend that she was sick again, and wanted her to say her brother that her treatment was the watermelon of the garden of the black demon. This time too, as the brother heard the speech of his sister, rode his horse and went until he reached the garden of the black demon. The black demon too, grappled with the brother. The brother took the waist of the demon and hit him to the ground. The black demon too, decided to trick him, but he did not give any chance to him and cut off his head. As the black demon had seen the dagger of the brother, he had yell such that the yellow demon had heard it in the home and had said: "I became miserable. Your brother killed this brother of me too. Now I am alone." The sister again got happy. After killing the demon, the brother took some watermelons and brought them to give her sister, and said her: "I wish the cure of your sickness was these watermelons."
After elapsing a few months, one day the girl gave birth to a son and when the brother came back from hunting said him that had found that baby out of her way. The brother liked the boy who was chubby and allocated the name Altintoop to him.
Altintoop grew older and older until when he was fifteen or sixteen years old. One day the yellow demon said the sister: "You should kill your brother using poison." The sister at first did not agree, but the demon made him to pour poison in the food of her brother. Altintoop was hidden behind the curtain and heard all of their plot and just before her uncle touch the food, gave a piece of the food to the dog causing its immediate death. The brother found out that his sister wanted to kill him. So, he took out his sword and killed his sister. Altintoop asked him why he killed her. The uncle answered that she wanted to kill him. Altintoop told his uncle all he had heard in detail. Afterwards, the uncle and the nephew searched every corner of the home together and found the yellow demon and killed him. Then they leaved that home and went to the top of a mountain to live there. They hunt in the days and at night one of them watched.
One night, one of the candles under the feet of the uncle was extinguished. Altintoop took the candle and followed the fire to ignite it. He saw a visible light from afar. He went toward it. He saw there that forty thieves were sitting and were busy to fun and pleasure. Some of the thieves were trying to lift the big pot of rice from the fire but however they tried they were not able to do that act. Altintoop went ahead and pushed them aside and lifted the pot and put it in a side. Then he lit his candle and also put a few apples in his pocket and returned back.
When the thieves saw this act of Altintoop, went to their chief and told him about Altintoop. The chief of the thieves ordered them to go and bring back that young man to him. Altintoop was returning back to his uncle to give him apple. The thieves caught Altintoop and took him to their chief. The chief of the thieves said him: "We have decided to rob the king's treasure. Are you willing to become partner in this respect?" Altintoop accepted their offer, and all of them got going toward the palace of the king. Altintoop threw lasso and climbed the wall and entered the palace. In a room, the little daughter of the king was sleeping. Altintoop put one of the apples on the beast of the little girl and wrote on a piece of paper: "If it is my fate, I'll marry with you myself." Then he went to another room in which the older daughter of the king was sleeping. There too he put another apple on the breast of the older girl and again wrote on a piece of paper: "If it is my uncle's fate, I'll cause him to marry with you."
Afterwards, he went to the room of the king. The king was sleeping while his mouth was open. A scorpion was going to his open mouth. Altitoop killed the scorpion and changed his dagger with the king's dagger. Then he went to the wall of the palace and said the thieves to come up one by one. He was sitting up the wall and was killing each thief who reached him. He dropped the corpses onto the garden of the palace.
When it was morning, there was some turmoil in the palace. In the morning, when the little daughter of the king woke up, she saw an apple on her chest on a piece of paper. As she read the letter she got angry and put on her clothes and went to the king and said that during the night someone had entered her bedroom. On the other hand, the king who was sitting on his bed saw the scorpion and swiftly put on his clothes and when he wanted to fasten his dagger to his waist he noticed that someone had changed his dagger. He had remained surprised that his older daughter came too and shouted that why in the palace of him every one who wanted was able to come to his daughter's room at night.
The king ordered to search completely to find someone guilty to do these acts. The officers went and found the corpses of the forty thieves in the garden. It was rumored in the city that the night before, in the palace of the king, the corpses of forty thieves had been found. The king asked everyone in the city to find who had done these acts.
After elapsing two or three months, it had not become clear yet that who had done those acts. The officers were bringing all the men in the city, one by one, to the palace to inspect. At last only Altintoop and his uncle had remained. The king ordered to bring them down the mountain. As Altintoop reached in front of the king said the king: "O king! First of all, please give me my dagger, since I need it. And here you are; this dagger too is yours." Altintoop told the king the whole story in detail including how he became familiar with the thieves and what he did in the rooms of his daughters and how he killed the scorpion in the king's room. When he finished his report, he said the king: "You are free to kill me or to release me." When the king heard the speech of Altintoop, he ordered his two daughters to marry Altintoop and his uncle. They celebrated seven nights and seven days. Afterwards, the king transferred his kingdom to Altintoop and his uncle became his minister.
