BIOGRAPHY OF SEYED ALI HOSEINI KHAMENEI

He is son of SEYED JAVAD HOSENI KHAMENEI. He was born in 1940, in MASHHAD city. He was second child of the family. Life of SEYED JAVAD was just like clergies. SEYED ALI explains: my father was very famous but pious. We had very hard life. I can remember, sometimes we did not have dinner to eat. Usually we had only bread and raisin.
We had a very small house, in poor area of MASHHAD. That house had only one room and a dark basement. When guest was coming to our house, we were going to the basement till guest goes. Later some friends of my father bought a small land which was close to our tiny house. So we got 3 rooms.
From the age of four, along with his elder brother, SEYED MOHAMMAD, started to go to a religious school. Then father registered their names in newly Islamic school by name, DARUL TLEEM DIYANATI.
SEYED ALI started to read JAMEUL MOGHADAMAT book in high school. Then he entered ELMIYEH School and began to learn literature and primary lessons from his own father and other masters.
About his motivation to become a clergy, says: to enter this bright path, my father encouraged me. My mother also became happy.
Leader has studied, JAMEUL MOGHADAMAT, SIYOUTI AND OGHANI BOOKS from his masters, SULEIMANKHAN and NAVAB in school. But father was controlling his study. Surprisingly, he finished the primary level in five and half years. His father had a main role in his improvement. In the field of logic and philosophy, he studied MANZOOME SABZEWAR under late TEHRANI and then REZA ISI.

IN NAJAF SCHOOL:

AYATOLLAH KHAMENEI started to attend the classes of great leader, AYATOLLAH MILLANI. In 1957, he decided to go to pilgrimage, to holy shrines of Imams. Leader met great leaders like late SEYED MOHSEN HAKIM, SEYED MAHMOOD SHAHROUDI, MIRZA BAGHER ZANJANI and SEYED YAHYA YAZDI. He appreciated their teachings and wanted to stay and learn. So contacted and consulted him. But father rejected the proposal. So SEYED `obeyed and returned after some days.

In QOM School:

Great Islamic leader began his advanced courses in religion, principles and philosophy under the great religious masters like AYATOLLAH BOROUJERDI, IMAM KHOMEINI, SHEIKH MORTEZA HERI YAZDI and ALAME TABATABAI in years 1958 till 1964. In 1964 he got a bad news. Father was suffering from pearl water, and became blind from one eye. So he decided to return back to MASHHAD city to take care of his faithful father.
Leader explains: I moved back to my home land to do my duty. If I am successful today, the reason is I done my duty toward father and mother also.
Some masters were telling him about his mistake to leave QOM city. But future showed that he decision was quite right. And destiny brought a better situation for him.
Could anybody believe that young boy will become leader of Muslims?
He continued his education in AYATOLLAH MILLANI classes. Meanwhile he was taking care of his old parents.
Now, he was teaching to youth students also.

POLOTICL CAMPAIGNS:

Leader says: I was revolutionary and political student of Imam Khomeini. But great martyr NAWAB SAFAVI made the first spark in his mind. In 1951, NAWAB went to SOLEIMAN KHAN School in MASHHAD city and made an exciting speech in front of students about kind and his satanic deeds against Islam and Iran.
Leader says: there is no doubt that late NAWAB made a great fire in our hearts.

ALONG WITH IMAM KHOMEINI:

When Imam started his revolutionary speeches against policies of king and America in 1962, AYATOLLAH SEYED ALI KHAMENEI, also entered the political activities. In this way he suffered a lot but did not scare. In those dangerous days, Imam has given the first mission to go and hand over a message to AYATOLLAH BOROUJERDI and other leaders.
That message contained advertisement programs by the clergy men in the holy month of MOHARAM and disclosure policies against the ruler and United States.
When handed over the message, went to BIRJAND city to give his fiery speech against regime. Police arrested him that night. But SEYED ALI continued and police officers also arrested and tortured him many times.

BERORE THE VICTORY OF ISLAMIC REVOLUTION:

Before victory Imam announced a revolutionary consulate and AYATOLLAH KHAMENEI was one of the members.

AFTER THE VICTORY OF ISLAMIC REVOLUTION:

After the victory, leader had many post to serve Islam and nation, such as:
Islamic republic party founder, in cooperation with scholars
Undersecretary of defense in the year 1980
Guardianship of Islamic revolution Guard Corps, 1980
Tehran Friday prayers leader, 1980
Representative of IMAM KHOMEINI in defense council in 1981
Member of assembly in 1980
President of Islamic republic of Iran in 1982
Head of revolutionary cultural consulate in 1982
And presently the leader of Islamic republic of Iran
