“Abraham (Peace be upon him) advised his children to surrender at front of the God. And Jacob (Peace be upon him) said to his sons: O my children, the Lord has chosen the religion for you. You should not be died lest you are disobedient”.
Abraham (Peace be upon him) died in the city of Hebron in Palestinian and prophecy was taken by Isaac (Peace be upon him). Henceforth, we explore the roots of the creation of Israel and their continuance and until the end of this review; there is no discussion to Mecca, because the history of Mecca in the Quran begins when the history of Israel and their mission is over according to the Quran. God gives a son to Isaac (Peace be upon him) in Palestine that they call him Jacob. His other name is Israel. In the Torah, Israel means "wrestler" and "one who is victorious over the God", but the fact is "Israel" means "servant of God" in Syriac and Hebrew languages.
Quran calls the history of Jacob (Peace be upon him) and his son Joseph (Peace be upon him) as “the best of narratives”:
"We narrate to you the best of narratives, by our revealing to you this Quran, although before this you were certainly one of those who did not know.”
The history of Joseph (Peace be upon him) has also been mentioned in previous and historical books, but any one is not as same as Quran in their mode of expression. If “Al-Qasas” word is a gerund structure here, it means “narrative”, but if it is an infinitive structure, it means "mode of expression" and so in this case, the meaning is: “We narrate to you the story in the best expression." Hence the term of “the best” could be for this narrative, because there are the lessons and wisdoms and hints and wonders which there are not in other narratives and the term of “the best” may also mean the creative expression and amazing style of this narrative by Quran.
Jacob (Peace be upon him) had twelve sons that one of them was Joseph (Peace be upon him) and the father was so warmhearted to him until his brothers grudged against him and then thought that kill him. In the consultation, they concluded not to kill him, but they decided to move him away from that area in such a way. The sons of Jacob (Peace be upon him) were pious and Unitarian, but they were jealous.
Palestine is along the Mediterranean Sea. In the northern part of Mediterranean Sea was Ancient Rome, in the south was Africa and in the West was the Middle East. This sea was one of economic regions in the world. Caravans that went from Rome to Africa and Egypt, they had to cross Palestine. In this way, people had created water reservoirs to collect rainwater in them then caravans used it. Brothers of Joseph (Peace be upon him) decided to throw him in one of these water reservoirs until the trade caravans take him with themselves. So they asked father to take him out under the pretext of playing with Joseph.
“He said: Surely it grieves me that you should take him off, and I fear lest the wolf devour him while you are heedless of him. They said: Surely if the wolf should devour him, notwithstanding that we are a strong company, we should then certainly be losers.”
In fact, Jacob (Peace be upon him) taught them not to kill him with this statement, until they separate him from the father in another way. Since the father had said that a wolf may devour him, then he could easily accept this lie.
“So when they had gone off with him and agreed that they should put him down at the dark bottom of the well; [As he fell at the bottom of the well] we revealed to him: You will most certainly inform them of their affair while they do not perceive. And they came to their father at nightfall, weeping. They said: O our father! Surely we went off racing and left Yusuf (Joseph) by our goods, so the wolf devoured him, and you will not believe us though we are truthful. And they brought his shirt with false blood upon it. He [Jacob] said: Nay, your souls have made the matter light for you, but patience is good and Allah is He whose help is sought for against what you describe.”
A caravan took out Yusuf (Peace be upon him) of the well and brought him to Egypt. Yusuf (Peace be upon him) became the minister of economic affairs of Egypt in the course of events. Years later, a widespread famine occurred and the sons of Jacob (Peace be upon him) came to Egypt to get food. Yusuf (Peace be upon him) recognized his brothers and impounded them by a trick and he even brought his father to Egypt. So Jacob's family (Peace be upon him) and his descendants (Israel) were moved to Egypt by this way.
The first experience of Israel governance:
Yusuf (Peace be upon him) was the head of the Egyptian government. Egyptians were idolaters, but they accepted Yusuf (Peace be upon him) who was unitary for several reasons: First, he had saved them from the famine; the second he was very resourceful and anyone could not criticize him upon his work and management; the third, it was excessive beauty of Yusuf (Peace be upon him) because the beauty of ruler was important to many people and is now.
Descendants of Israel who had become Egyptian dynasty, they were the religious people in that land. But they have not any experience of governance. Egypt was the beginning of their government experience. Bureaucracy started in Israel from here. They wrote the contents and the characteristics of their generation. So the origin of Jews training and the beginning of their experience were in government of Yusuf (Peace be upon him).
Descendants of Israel promoted the religion in the government of Yusuf (Peace be upon him). Prophet Jacob (Peace be upon him) gathered them in the last moments of his life, and said:
“Were you witnesses when the death visited Yaqoub [Jacob], when he said to his sons: What will you serve after him? They said: We will serve your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ismael and Isaac [Isaac], one God only, and to him do we submit. "
All Jacob (Peace be upon him) concern was that his children might be deviated in the government. When Jacob (Peace be upon him) died, Joseph (Peace be upon him) took his body to Levant and buried his body near the grave of Khalil-ur-Rehman.
When the Israelites entered Egypt, they were in minority, since they were as the government dynasty, extended their generation to overcome the minority. Joseph (Peace be upon him) gathered his elders at the end of his life and after the praise of God; he informed them upon an arduous future that they would be involved after him, upon the massacre of men, exenterate of pregnant women, and the slaughter of children until the God emerge the right by a savior from the children of “Lavi Ben Jacob”; he was tall brown man. Yusuf (Peace be upon him) told them his traits and he warned them in his testament since they are the descendants of Israel and a pious group of people with the same identity and moreover, they also have had an experience of authorities. Pagan Pharaoh's people were afraid of them. Therefore, they will restrict them, and they should wait for their savior to save them. Prophet Yusuf (Peace be upon him) died and the waiting of appearance of savior was the hope of Israelites. Thus, the Israelites after the Prophet Yusuf (Peace be upon him) strived in three areas:
1. Identity maintenance:
This religious and pious collection tried to maintain their religious identity against the pagan people.
2. Population growth:
To extent their population like as the salt does not dissolve in the water.
3. Waiting for a savior:
They were waiting for a savior delivers them from abnormal conditions of Egypt and he moves them in the historic responsibility of Imamate of the religion of God which was upon them.
Four hundred years of waiting
All the statements of Yusuf (Peace be upon him) were realized. Egypt was empowered by the pharaohs and the Pharaoh's people invaded Israelites in the same three directions discussed above:
1. The cultural offensive to the religious identity of Israelites:
In addition to Pharaoh’s people tried to humiliate Israelites, they kept them in so immature; until if the advent of Messiah occurred, they would not dad any proportion with him and they would be in a position just as in vain. Thus, the Israelites had to be away of technical and managerial works. For this reason, even though the family management was taken away from them, and however the Israelites household was under the management of a pharaoh’s man, the Israelites were forced to low and tough works as brick making and pottery, servicing of the descendants of pharaohs, and being servants or housekeeping of Pharaoh’s house; and in a word, they were forced to servitude. Ineffectiveness of Israelites led to such an extent when the mother of Moses (Peace be upon him) wanted to put him in the box and leave him in the river, there was nobody who could build a box among the Israelites, and then inevitably she ordered to a Coptic carpenter to build a box.
2. The control of generation of Israelites:
Paranoiac system forced the Israelite women to be under the observation of Egyptian midwives. Every Israelite woman who was pregnant, she had to have the childbirth under the observation of Egyptian (Coptic) aristocrat midwives. If the number of boys was more than a certain amount, they killed them; and if the newborn was a girl, they give her to the mother.
3. Dealing with the promised Messiah:
In order to prevent the realization of Messiah issue, the pharaohs had two kinds of behaviors: dealing with the expectant people and dealing with The Promised.
Pharaoh tried to find Messiah and kill him. Since it was not clear when he would be born, and whose son is it; they used the information exchanged among the Israelites. This information was the signs of advent. The Israelites endured the pressures upon waiting for advent of The Promised. Waiting was a stabilizing perseverant factor for them and the prophets of Israel always maintained this expectance level by stressing of the signs of advent. People who came to the brink of frustration, they could be hopeful by listening to the signs of advent. Pharaoh's people approached to this brink with information that they achieved from their spies among Israelites. Another way to access to The Promised was take advantage by obedience of prophesiers and astronomers. The future was predicted by the stars positions, but it could not be changed. The pharaoh’s people distinguished the birthday of the savior of Israelites by this way.
In addition, Pharaoh dreamed that a blaze was raised from Jerusalem and it was fallen in Egyptian houses and burned them in the fire. The wizards, priests, prophesiers, and astronomers all interpreted this dream as the birth of a son among the Israelites and he would overthrow the Pharaoh's government.
