The Strategic Limitation of Israel; Iraq (1)

Iraq as a great Islamic country and historical region having civilization, culture and specific geopolitical position in the middle east ,since past had been coveted by greedy powers. According to what we said, Iraq geographical closeness to the land of Palestine, other features had been given to this country. Based on this Iraq has a specific situation in Zionism surrounding strategies. General Hussein Fardoost have written about importance and position of Iraq and goals of world powers in this country:
Iraq in world war one had been occupied by the British. The British because of Iraq geopolitical position in the in the area and also its enormous oil resources had arranged to fixate their dominance and so they put Feisal-the son of Hussein Sharif of Mecca- in charge of Iraq and his brother Abdullah in charge of Jordan . Malik Abdullah is the grandfather of Malik Hussein current king of Jordan. Because of that, the British planned to control an important part of west world by using Hashemi family and in other section (the land of Hejaz) they put Saudi family, as rival of Hashemi family, in charge. This is the important British policy of (divide and rule). After the world war two the British dominance in Iraq was strong, until finally with the help of America in 1333 they made the Iraq treaty and made as a kind of considered centrality for Iraq in the area. In this time the king of Iraq was Malik Feisal the Second but actually the country had been governed by his prime minister name Nouri Saeed which was the number one operative of the British. We saw Malik Feisal several in Mohammad Reza palace .he was so young […]. Feisal himself was so polite and oppressed and the one in charge in the court was the crown prince name Abdullah who probably was his cousin. Abdullah was about ten years older than Feisal and had close connections with the Britain and in fact was their operative in the court […].
In this time Anti English sentiment had grown a lot in Iraq and specially Iraq officers were under the flounce of the coup of general Najib and Colonel Abdonaser and Arabic nationalism Naser and the Russians also had encouraged this nationalism. So in 1337 coup of Brigadier Abdolkarim Ghasem were occurred and the monarchy in Iraq was fallen.
Any way in the year 1337 because of the disturbances which was occurred in the border of Iraq and Syria, general staff sends a unit commended by brigadier Ghasem and assistance of colonel Abdolsalam to the district. The unit exit from Baghdad and stops at night and Ghasem and Aref start the plan of attacking Baghdad and the coup.in 5:30 in the morning instead of moving toward Syria the return to Baghdad. Ghasem with his own selected team move toward the palace and Aref with the relevant team move toward the radio. Ghasem execute ABdollah (crown prince) , Feisal (king) and all of the royal family after disarming them by fire squad and after a while he find and execute Noori Saeed who run and was hiding in a cave. Bodies all were fastened to a cart and shown in the streets of Baghdad. The coup of Baghdad was considered the greatest incident of the area and also frightened west and Mohammad reza and from that time the darkness of relations between Mohammad reza and Republic of Iraq began and continued until 1975,
The coup of Ghasem was considered as progress of Soviets stand in the area and development of communist’s activities in Iraq would risk the stability in favor of west. So, united state an England started to reinforce the regime of Mohammad reza and the regime of Jordan but in the same time efforts were made to step by step eject forces incline with Soviets or nationalists. Because of that step by step the way was opened for Sadam Hussein to rise. Ghasem after about four years [in the year 1340] governing was fired and killed by Abdolsalam Aref and so the party of Bes was get to the power. This was considered first step in favor of the United States and after a while Aref [in the year 1342] was killed in an aerial incident and his brother lieutenant general Abdolrahman Aref became the president and finally [in 1347] Hossein Albakr , expelled Abdolrahman Aref without any resistance and send him to England and took the power.
Sending Aref to England bring up the hypothesis that he was from the start an England operative. In this time Sadam Hussein was the secretary of revelation consul and vice president. This showed that the army of Iraq didn’t accept Sadam Hossein for presidency and someone reputed must get the power and so brigadier Hasan Al Akbar who was accepted by the army was chosen for this role. But step by step Sadam took the role of dominant in the Iraq government and soon it was obvious that he is the one in charge. I have no doubt in that the design of Sadam dictatorship, U.S intended player, was planned from a long time ago and was operated step by step. In the time which still Albakr was the president Sadam with full strength suddenly appeared in the opening ceremony of Baghdad war university period with general outfit, the highest military rank. Sadam was a civilian and his odd act caused some of the present officers to leave the ceremony[…].in 1975 the United States decided to end the activities of the Kurdish rebels and so with the mediation of Bomdin the 1975 treaty of Algeria between Mohammad reza and Saddam(the secretary of Iraq revelation consul) were made. This treaty most of all was in favor of Saddam and also this was U.S demand otherwise there were no reasons that Saddam instead of Hasan Albakr, sign the treaty. The 1975 treaty caused that 90 tousands kords supporting Barazani were wanted by Iran and after years the war with kords finished and the army of Iraq would appreciate Sadam. So, Saddam were appeared as savior of Iraq army in Algeria. The treaty of Algeria leave no doubt in Saddam being an American dependent. It is said that Albakr is in favor of two countries alliance and so Hafez Asad went to Baghdad. It is obvious that the alliance of Syria and Iraq end in favor of Soviet and U.S and England were against it. The chairman of the England embassy in Tehran directly told me the English government want an independent Iraq and without alliance with Syria. So Saddam based on U.S order in 24 hours break up this plan and respectfully brought Hafez Asad to the airport and sent him to his home. Then he hospitalized Hasan Albakr in home because of poor health and overnight executed 21 people of high ranking officials including party of Syrian pro Bass by firing squad and pronounce himself as the president [1375]. About 3 decades of constant and secret activities of Israel intelligence services against Iraq, especially in Kurdish areas of that country and provoking some groups and kurd parties and causing conflicts and bloody wars in that area, all are proving Iraq geopolitical position in Israel surrounding strategies. The head of SAVAK in that time in a meeting with Iser Hall the head of Mossad, in 1338, by reminding common interests of Iran and Israel, examined efforts and Soviets and Jamal Abdolnaser proceedings for expansion their influence in Iraq and considered the possible victory of each one of them in Iraq as a threat for both the Zionist regime and Pahlavi regime. Timour Bakhtiar the president of time in SAVAK after examining the internal status and foreign policy over Iraq, pointed to the preventing ways of occurring any new incidents in contrary with Iran and Israel interests like this:

Then political status of Middle East were explain as follows. Dangers that we are facing aren’t any more just disruption and they are turning to thread. The Soviets has strategic plans and to achieve them uses different tools like arab nationalism- communism and peaceful breach and anytime a government prevent this proceeding will face the Soviets threats. Although we are aware that Soviet won’t come to war based on these threats and we consider them worthless but this country indirectly entered another district of middle east and might start its original operation against Iran from there. Of course both of us are unanimous that soviets indirect invasion must be prevented but to do that we must find a solution at any cost and after agreeing about that we must try to bring our other alliances (like Turkey, US and England) together. It is obvious that if our solution is logical it would be easier to convince our friend. The important problem is to find this solution otherwise everyone is aware of the available dangers and the status of Arab countries. According to that it is necessary that we have a quick look at two Arab countries which today are on the opposite side of each other’s: Iraq and United Republic of Arab.
A. Briefly explaining Egypt status
The one who brought soviet into Middle East was Naser. He was the person who destroy the stable situation of the area and used Arab nationalism as tools for soviet to progress. Interruptions in Arab countries was started by Egypt and he want the one who did the groundwork of Iraq revolution (although it hasn’t used it yet)
If Nasir and Ghasem have problem with each other today it shouldn’t be considered as if Nasser has problem with communism. The truce is that Ghasem has become a barrier against Nasser ambitious wishes and Nasser is using the weapon of disagreeing with communism to terminate him. Otherwise relations between Egypt and Russian even now are satisfying and according to accurate information we have Khroshchof in his letter to Nasser has supported him and made him confident. The day which Nasser becomes suppressed and Nasser become successful in Iraq undoubtedly there will be no disagreeing with communism.
B. Briefly explaining Iraq status
Iraq is moving toward communism very fast. Accurate information which is in our access are testifying communist increasing power and improving their paper works and the main reason of this affair is constant entering of fugitive communists from Iran to Iraq. (For us with having 14 centuries constant relation with Iraq we have always witnessed that Iranian were always inspiring every political Arabic movements and this why we are also worried this time otherwise we don’t afraid of a movement that only Arabs are involved).
Communism is like a cancer that when it pervade at one point it will continue spreading and cutting one of its limb would make it grow faster. Right now symptoms of a communist revolution can be observed. For example a few days ago in Basra an officer was retired and rumor has it among soldiers that the reason for his retirement was his membership in Baath party. Immediately soldiers attacked the aforesaid officer and turned him into pieces. The elements which aren’t communists and helping Iraq’s government for now are one by one giving up the job because communists are willing that those who stays at the job completely follow their ideology.
Regardless of gathered information we are observing Russian ships passing from Abadan and Khoramshahr docks bringing guns and armed men to Iraq. When the Barzanies went from Iran to the Soviet they were about 250 to 270 men but the Kurds who returned to Iraq using Russian ships were about 850 men regardless of these points witch proves the development of communism influence in Iraq must be noticed that in the feature it’s possible that Ghasem asks the soviet army to enter Iraq as title of keeping peace and it’s a whisper that can be heard from now and it can be deducted that in the same way that Lebanese government asked united estate to bring its soldiers Ghasem also has the right to make the same demand from the soviet .
Although today Ghasem and the communists aren’t completely dominant in Iraq and maybe us and the western governments have some equipment in that country but in the close feature there wouldn’t be such equipment for us. If we imagine that with the time passing we can attract Ghasem toward ourselves it is only an in vain dream and in fact we have betrayed our countries interests. This way of thinking is possible for the one whose home is far from fire zone but for us it is in no way forgivable. Don’t forget that now it is the soviet policy that is applying in Iraq and if we hypothetically don’t be pessimist and don’t consider Ghasem as communist and consider him loyal to the free world policy in any way he won’t be able to commit an action in contrary with the soviet policy in the current circumstances and it can’t be accepted that Ghasem is able to change the current circumstances with the help of his one or two advisers.
Now if we want to be optimistic and leave Iraq to move toward its feature freely what would be the outlook of such feature? In this case three situation can occurs:
1. Iraq would become communist.
2. The Arab nationalism would win.
3. Abdolkarim would destroy communists and Nasser’s fan as well.
If we examine the possibility of these three it must be noticed that the possibility of number three is extremely weak and maybe it won’t go more than one percent. It is obvious that we can’t build the basis of our policies in such weak possibility.
So one these other two situation will come to reality which means that if Iraq don’t become a communist country it will become a Nasser following country.
Maybe one these situation is a closer danger and the other is more far danger but anyway they are both dangerous.
Now it must be found out that what Iraq feature would be based on these possibilities and for example what would happen if Iraq becomes communist whether Nasser would leave or would make himself be ready for other activities in other places and would continue to be an agent of progress in the soviet plans?
We are close to Iraq and our information of that country are almost accurate. In recent days the whispers about formation of Arab and Kurd federal republic and in Iraq can be heard which in that Molla Mostafa would become the leader of Kurd republic and Abdolkarim Ghasem would become the leader of Arab republic. This matter completely agrees with the great wish of the soviet which wants to divide Iraq into little republics so later creates greater soviet reunions.
In this case the harms which go into Iran and Turkey must be noticed. If the Kurds find a base in the Middle East they will create a difficult problem and we are not sure that the western government will support such government or not. If this hypothesis becomes true despite of the harms which would go to Iran and Turkey one should ask himself that what would be the soviet method toward Egypt and otherwise.
When the Russians get what they want and face Egypt with what was already done the soviet would start over and probably would succeed in provoking Egypt to create disruption and demagoguery in other Arab countries and breaking the basis of Israel government.
In this case the outlook of feature would be very horrible. Despite communism and Nasserism in Iraq the danger still has its intensity specially when there is no hope in Ghasem being independent and we mustn’t build our policies base on such dream.
The solution of Iraq current situation
Holding our horses and witnessing the evolutions of events is a dangerous work and so we should find a solution at any cost. The solution must neither accept communism nor Naserims. If we can clear both dangers from Iraq by applying a right policy we will make a useful step in keeping peace in the Middle East. Especially it shouldn’t be forgotten that if communism get destroyed in Iraq the probability of west supports for Nasser will be reduced. If today the Americans are willing to get close to Nasser is because the appearance of communism in Iraq. Now it must be seen that what element is there to create an anti-communism and unit Nasserism movement in Iraq such elements can be found inside Iraq but first of all aren’t enough and second they won’t exist tomorrow. But there is such elements in outside that could interfere in inside of Iraq. Such as: the Kurds , shommar tribe, south tribes of Iraq, Iran influence among Iraq Shiites , and the Turkish influence among the Turkish minority of Kirkuk and Mosul and also the influence and prestige of Malik Hussein in Iraq.
None of these factors are be able to change the situation individually and if we want to have a positive action we must consider these two points
First of all internal and foreign operation must be synced with each other.
Secondly the feature of government and leaders of Iraq which shouldn’t either be communism or a fan of Nasser must be studied I our opinion the person who can play an active role is Malik Hussein.
If you agree with mentioned ideas about the agreement the details of the affair can be set by some special committees. It is the only solution which comes to our minds and otherwise we should wait for a miracle. If we agree on this matter later we can enlighten some of the matters with Malik Hussein. For example the condition to help him can be making peace with Israel to take the soviet weapon for keeping away the violet situation of the Middle East from their hands. Also might be able solve other problems with him. In the end in case an urgent matter come to existence within next 45 days witch is in the same time as the imperial majesty traveling. A meeting be set in Tehran and after mentioned time the head of intelligence and safety organization of the country to get a definite result from these negotiations is willing to travel abroad.
Isser Harel, the head of that time in Mossed during a conversation with the SAVAK officials in the year 1339 hejri, had stated his opinions about Iraq in this way:

First question: what policy should be persuaded according to Iraq current situation?
Answer: the main reason of current success of communist in Iraq is that Abdolkarim Ghassem to keep his current position had no choice but leaning on communist. So every stimulation or destructive activities that Abdolnaser does inside of Iraq is help to the development of communist’s influence which use this process.
So the only logical method which we can apply is this because we can’t stop Nase destructive operations in Iraq so we must moral help to Ghasem. In this way if Ghasem is communist an excuse will not be given to him to increase the influence of the communists and if he is not a communist this moral help is or definite duty.
Second question: despite of moral help to Ghasem is not it right to improve and encourage Iraqi anti-communist elements that exist in every levels in great number?
Answer: every activity done in order to united and Iraq provoke anti-communists elements can put them in danger and can cause them being shut down. In addition in this case would give more chance to communists to develop their influence. In current situation the only right method for Iraqi anti-communist elements is trying to survive. This elements by keeping their existence may be able to do some useful deeds in a better situation. So not only we withhold their provocation but also tactically speaking these groups method must be to support Abdolkarim government. Ever other policies in conflict with aforesaid method will bring great number of dangers.

This plan that were made because of the excuse of fighting and confronting communist and Nasserism in the Arab and Islamic countries, specially Iraq, needed the agreement of US, England and Turkey that the Israelis were seriously trying to achieve that. In that time the Israel saw these three option in Iraq in front of them: the victory of communism, the victory of Nasserism, and the success of abdolkarim ghasem. Bu after consultation with the current boss of SAVAK he completely agreed with, the fourth option which was the hidden operation of submitting of current leadership of Iraq opposition movement to Malik Hussein the king of Jordan.

Generally I agree with all of your opinions and I agree that communism and Nasserism are as dangerous as each other. This morning statements of me didn’t mean that we consider the danger of Nasserism less than communism and if I said that Iraq can’t be saved by helping Nasser my intension wasn’t that we shouldn’t consider the tomorrow of Iraq communist.
If a solution is found in order to save Iraq from communism and Nasserism in the same time we will work hard to achieve that goal.
