The word '' soul'' in Quran

The word '' soul'' has many different meanings in Quran. Quran states
فَإِذَا سَوَّیْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِیهِ مِن رُّوحِی فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِینَ
When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him.
Ragheb believes that purpose from the word '' soul'' in the above verse is same Quran whereas Allame Tabatabaei believes that it is same divine messages. Quran states
وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَوْحَیْنَا إِلَیْكَ رُوحًا مِّنْ أَمْرِنَا ۚ مَا كُنتَ تَدْرِی مَا الْكِتَابُ وَلَا الْإِیمَانُ وَلَٰكِن جَعَلْنَاهُ نُورًا نَّهْدِی بِهِ مَن نَّشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ۚ وَإِنَّكَ لَتَهْدِی إِلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِیمٍ
And thus have We, by Our Command, sent inspiration to thee: thou knewest not (before) what was Revelation, and what was Faith; but We have made the (Qur´an) a Light, wherewith We guide such of Our servants as We will; and verily thou dost guide (men) to the Straight Way.
یَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لَا تَغْلُوا فِی دِینِكُمْ وَلَا تَقُولُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْحَقَّ ۚ إِنَّمَا الْمَسِیحُ عِیسَى ابْنُ مَرْیَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَكَلِمَتُهُ أَلْقَاهَا إِلَىٰ مَرْیَمَ وَرُوحٌ مِّنْهُ ۖ فَآمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ ۖ وَلَا تَقُولُوا ثَلَاثَةٌ ۚ انتَهُوا خَیْرًا لَّكُمْ ۚ إِنَّمَا اللَّهُ إِلَٰهٌ وَاحِدٌ ۖ سُبْحَانَهُ أَن یَكُونَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ ۘ لَّهُ مَا فِی السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِی الْأَرْضِ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ وَكِیلًا
O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah: Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.
فَإِذَا سَوَّیْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِیهِ مِن رُّوحِی فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِینَ
When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him.

وَسَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِی السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِی الْأَرْضِ جَمِیعًا مِّنْهُ ۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَٰلِكَ لَآیَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ یَتَفَكَّرُونَ
And He has subjected to you, as from Him, all that is in the heavens and on earth: Behold, in that are Signs indeed for those who reflect.
وَإِذْ بَوَّأْنَا لِإِبْرَاهِیمَ مَكَانَ الْبَیْتِ أَن لَّا تُشْرِكْ بِی شَیْئًا وَطَهِّرْ بَیْتِیَ لِلطَّائِفِینَ وَالْقَائِمِینَ وَالرُّكَّعِ السُّجُودِ
Behold! We gave the site, to Abraham, of the (Sacred) House, (saying): "Associate not anything (in worship) with Me; and sanctify My House for those who compass it round, or stand up, or bow, or prostrate themselves (therein in prayer.
One of interpreters states that the word '' soul'' means mercy as Quran states
لَّا تَجِدُ قَوْمًا یُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْیَوْمِ الْآخِرِ یُوَادُّونَ مَنْ حَادَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَوْ كَانُوا آبَاءَهُمْ أَوْ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ أَوْ إِخْوَانَهُمْ أَوْ عَشِیرَتَهُمْ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ كَتَبَ فِی قُلُوبِهِمُ الْإِیمَانَ وَأَیَّدَهُم بِرُوحٍ مِّنْهُ ۖ وَیُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِی مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِینَ فِیهَا ۚ رَضِیَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ حِزْبُ اللَّهِ ۚ أَلَا إِنَّ حِزْبَ اللَّهِ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ
Thou wilt not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, loving those who resist Allah and His Messenger, even though they were their fathers or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred. For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with a spirit from Himself. And He will admit them to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, to dwell therein (for ever). Allah will be well pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allah. Truly it is the Party of Allah that will achieve Felicity.
وَمَرْیَمَ ابْنَتَ عِمْرَانَ الَّتِی أَحْصَنَتْ فَرْجَهَا فَنَفَخْنَا فِیهِ مِن رُّوحِنَا وَصَدَّقَتْ بِكَلِمَاتِ رَبِّهَا وَكُتُبِهِ وَكَانَتْ مِنَ الْقَانِتِینَ
And Mary the daughter of ´Imran, who guarded her chastity; and We breathed into (her body) of Our spirit; and she testified to the truth of the words of her Lord and of His Revelations, and was one of the devout (servants).
رَفِیعُ الدَّرَجَاتِ ذُو الْعَرْشِ یُلْقِی الرُّوحَ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ عَلَىٰ مَن یَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ لِیُنذِرَ یَوْمَ التَّلَاقِ
Raised high above ranks (or degrees), (He is) the Lord of the Throne (of Authority): by His Command doth He send the Spirit (of inspiration) to any of His servants he pleases, that it may warn (men) of the Day of Mutual Meeting.
نَزِّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ بِالرُّوحِ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ عَلَىٰ مَن یَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ أَنْ أَنذِرُوا أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنَا فَاتَّقُونِ
He doth send down His angels with inspiration of His Command, to such of His servants as He pleaseth, (saying): "Warn (Man) that there is no god but I: so do your duty unto Me.
قُلْ نَزَّلَهُ رُوحُ الْقُدُسِ مِن رَّبِّكَ بِالْحَقِّ لِیُثَبِّتَ الَّذِینَ آمَنُوا وَهُدًى وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُسْلِمِینَ
Say, the Holy Spirit has brought the revelation from thy Lord in Truth, in order to strengthen those who believe, and as a Guide and Glad Tidings to Muslims.
نَزَلَ بِهِ الرُّوحُ الْأَمِینُ
With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth.
وَلَقَدْ آتَیْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَقَفَّیْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِ بِالرُّسُلِ ۖ وَآتَیْنَا عِیسَى ابْنَ مَرْیَمَ الْبَیِّنَاتِ وَأَیَّدْنَاهُ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِ ۗ أَفَكُلَّمَا جَاءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ بِمَا لَا تَهْوَىٰ أَنفُسُكُمُ اسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ فَفَرِیقًا كَذَّبْتُمْ وَفَرِیقًا تَقْتُلُونَ
We gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession of messengers; We gave Jesus the son of Mary Clear (Signs) and strengthened him with the holy spirit. Is it that whenever there comes to you a messenger with what ye yourselves desire not, ye are puffed up with pride?- Some ye called impostors, and others ye slay.
تِلْكَ الرُّسُلُ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۘ مِّنْهُم مَّن كَلَّمَ اللَّهُ ۖ وَرَفَعَ بَعْضَهُمْ دَرَجَاتٍ ۚ وَآتَیْنَا عِیسَى ابْنَ مَرْیَمَ الْبَیِّنَاتِ وَأَیَّدْنَاهُ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِ ۗ وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مَا اقْتَتَلَ الَّذِینَ مِن بَعْدِهِم مِّن بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَتْهُمُ الْبَیِّنَاتُ وَلَٰكِنِ اخْتَلَفُوا فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ آمَنَ وَمِنْهُم مَّن كَفَرَ ۚ وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مَا اقْتَتَلُوا وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ یَفْعَلُ مَا یُرِیدُ
Those messengers We endowed with gifts, some above others: To one of them Allah spoke; others He raised to degrees (of honour); to Jesus the son of Mary We gave clear (Signs), and strengthened him with the holy spirit. If Allah had so willed, succeeding generations would not have fought among each other, after clear (Signs) had come to them, but they (chose) to wrangle, some believing and others rejecting. If Allah had so willed, they would not have fought each other; but Allah Fulfilleth His plan.
فَاتَّخَذَتْ مِن دُونِهِمْ حِجَابًا فَأَرْسَلْنَا إِلَیْهَا رُوحَنَا فَتَمَثَّلَ لَهَا بَشَرًا سَوِیًّا
She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent her our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects.
Hakim Bin Hamze Shirazi says '' purpose from the word '' soul'' in Quran is angels and lovers of obeying God'' as Quran states
تَعْرُجُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ إِلَیْهِ فِی یَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ خَمْسِینَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ
The angels and the spirit ascend unto him in a Day the measure whereof is (as) fifty thousand years.
Purpose from the word '' soul '' in the above verse is angels that are the pillar of the sky and the earth;
یا أَیُّهَا الَّذِینَ آمَنُوا قُوا أَنفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِیكُمْ نَارًا وَقُودُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ عَلَیْهَا مَلَائِكَةٌ غِلَاظٌ شِدَادٌ لَّا یَعْصُونَ اللَّهَ مَا أَمَرَهُمْ وَیَفْعَلُونَ مَا یُؤْمَرُونَ
O ye who believe! save yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is Men and Stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who flinch not (from executing) the Commands they receive from Allah, but do (precisely) what they are commanded.
Purpose from the word '' soul'' is same light that believers gain when they achieve God.
Quran states
وَیَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الرُّوحِ ۖ قُلِ الرُّوحُ مِنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّی وَمَا أُوتِیتُم مِّنَ الْعِلْمِ إِلَّا قَلِیلًا
They ask thee concerning the Spirit (of inspiration). Say: "The Spirit (cometh) by command of my Lord: of knowledge it is only a little that is communicated to you, (O men).
إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ اللَّهُ الَّذِی خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ فِی سِتَّةِ أَیَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ یُغْشِی اللَّیْلَ النَّهَارَ یَطْلُبُهُ حَثِیثًا وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ وَالنُّجُومَ مُسَخَّرَاتٍ بِأَمْرِهِ ۗ أَلَا لَهُ الْخَلْقُ وَالْأَمْرُ ۗ تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِینَ
Your Guardian-Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the throne (of authority): He draweth the night as a veil o´er the day, each seeking the other in rapid succession: He created the sun, the moon, and the stars, (all) governed by laws under His command. Is it not His to create and to govern? Blessed be Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds.
وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِی صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ تَجْرِی مِن تَحْتِهِمُ الْأَنْهَارُ ۖ وَقَالُوا الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِی هَدَانَا لِهَٰذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِنَهْتَدِیَ لَوْلَا أَنْ هَدَانَا اللَّهُ ۖ لَقَدْ جَاءَتْ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِالْحَقِّ ۖ وَنُودُوا أَن تِلْكُمُ الْجَنَّةُ أُورِثْتُمُوهَا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
And We shall remove from their hearts any lurking sense of injury;- beneath them will be rivers flowing;- and they shall say: "Praise be to Allah, who hath guided us to this (felicity): never could we have found guidance, had it not been for the guidance of Allah: indeed it was the truth, that the messengers of our Lord brought unto us." And they shall hear the cry: "Behold! the garden before you! Ye have been made its inheritors, for your deeds (of righteousness).
هَلْ یَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا تَأْوِیلَهُ ۚ یَوْمَ یَأْتِی تَأْوِیلُهُ یَقُولُ الَّذِینَ نَسُوهُ مِن قَبْلُ قَدْ جَاءَتْ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِالْحَقِّ فَهَل لَّنَا مِن شُفَعَاءَ فَیَشْفَعُوا لَنَا أَوْ نُرَدُّ فَنَعْمَلَ غَیْرَ الَّذِی كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ ۚ قَدْ خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا یَفْتَرُونَ
Do they just wait for the final fulfilment of the event? On the day the event is finally fulfilled, those who disregarded it before will say: "The messengers of our Lord did indeed bring true (tidings). Have we no intercessors now to intercede on our behalf? Or could we be sent back? then should we behave differently from our behaviour in the past." In fact they will have lost their souls, and the things they invented will leave them in the lurch.
قَدِ افْتَرَیْنَا عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا إِنْ عُدْنَا فِی مِلَّتِكُم بَعْدَ إِذْ نَجَّانَا اللَّهُ مِنْهَا ۚ وَمَا یَكُونُ لَنَا أَن نَّعُودَ فِیهَا إِلَّا أَن یَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّنَا ۚ وَسِعَ رَبُّنَا كُلَّ شَیْءٍ عِلْمًا ۚ عَلَى اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا ۚ رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَیْنَنَا وَبَیْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَنتَ خَیْرُ الْفَاتِحِینَ
We should indeed invent a lie against Allah, if we returned to your ways after Allah hath rescued us therefrom; nor could we by any manner of means return thereto unless it be as in the will and plan of Allah, Our Lord. Our Lord can reach out to the utmost recesses of things by His knowledge. In the Allah is our trust. our Lord! decide Thou between us and our people in truth, for Thou art the best to decide.
قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِینَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا مِن قَوْمِهِ لَنُخْرِجَنَّكَ یَا شُعَیْبُ وَالَّذِینَ آمَنُوا مَعَكَ مِن قَرْیَتِنَا أَوْ لَتَعُودُنَّ فِی مِلَّتِنَا ۚ قَالَ أَوَلَوْ كُنَّا كَارِهِینَ
The leaders, the arrogant party among his people, said: "O Shu´aib! we shall certainly drive thee out of our city - (thee) and those who believe with thee; or else ye (thou and they) shall have to return to our ways and religion." He said: "What! even though we do detest (them)?
وَیَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الرُّوحِ ۖ قُلِ الرُّوحُ مِنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّی وَمَا أُوتِیتُم مِّنَ الْعِلْمِ إِلَّا قَلِیلًا
They ask thee concerning the Spirit (of inspiration). Say: "The Spirit (cometh) by command of my Lord: of knowledge it is only a little that is communicated to you, (O men).
Most of interpreters say about soul along with body life '' it is quality of soul and behavior in body and quality of its combination with body''.
