In the early years of the twentieth century, social and political situation of the Ottoman Empire, was very serious.
dictatorial behavior and incompetence and blind fanaticism of the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid, and on the other hand, the arrival of the opinions and ideas of freedom and Enlightenment to Europe, excited the people of this land hard and created a wave of discontent and anger among Turks and Arabs.
In July 1908, officers and intellectuals affiliated to the Committee of the "Union and Progress", made an armed uprising with the aim of establishment of constitutional government that led to success and promoted the happiness and excitement among many Arabs.
In September of the same year, Arabs living in Istanbul, founded the political organization "Alakha’al-arabi Atmani," which was accompanied by tendencies of Arabic people and became the owner of a newspaper and supporters and even made the branches in Arabic cities and towns.
Over the years, the societies and groups of Arab or Turk intellectuals was established, within and outside the territory of the Ottoman Empire and its members campaigned overt and covert with reformist and revolutionary objectives. Some of these organizations included public organizations such as "Al-montadi Al-Arabi" in Istanbul and the" La Markaziyah Al-Edariyah" and even the secret organization of "Al-Arabiyah Al-Fatat" and the secret party of "Al-Ahd".
At the same time, the Austrian government officially attached Bosnia and Herzegovina to its country in which occupied from 1878, with the turmoil of the Ottoman Empire and the weakness of the central government, and on the other hand, Bulgaria and Serbia declared their independence at this time and isolated from the Ottoman Empire.
Thus, the spread of immorality, corruption, despotism, lack of insight, weakness and division, resentment of the people provided the grounds for decompose of the carcass of the Ottoman Empire which was known as the sick man of Europe.
Although this decomposition was actually delayed until the years after the First World War, but in the meantime, the Zionist were waited to devour Palestinian land and were sitting in ambush, and did not back a moment. Following the formation of the first Zionist conference, they applied the full-featured and political and economic levers with the design of a series of precise, confidential and comprehensive programs, in order achieve its objectives slowly by the infested and disordered situation of the Ottoman vast country, using divide and neglect and the dereliction of Muslims and debauchery and devotion of rulers.
In the first step, as the economic background of the project, in addition to the generous financial assistance from Rothschild, a fund was founded for fundraising in favor of Zionism in the UK and received 250 thousand sterling Lira in the first year. As well as another fund called the "National Fund for land acquisition Palestine" was founded in 1901. On the other hand, Jewish areas received generous contributions with continuous communication with individuals and organizations across Europe and America.
The financial donations provided the voluntary immigration of Jewish group to Palestine, but the question is seriously raised for the first rulers of the Zionist movement was, "How can create one Jewish majority within a country that most of its inhabitants are indigenous Palestinian Arabs? ". The only and simplest solution of political Zionism was: the expulsion of Palestinians and forcing Jews to immigrate and settle in the land.
Expulsion of Palestinians from their land was a systematic action. Director of the Jewish National Fund who purchased the lands in Palestine and was called "Yossef Weitz", wrote in 1904:
It is clear for us that in this country, there is no place for two people. If the Arabs leave it, we would be enough ... there is no solution other than expulsing all of them, it should not to be remained even a village or an Arab tribe as well. It should be explained to Roosevelt and all the heads of friendly states that the land of Israel is not too small. Of course, if all the Arabs leave it and its borders slightly takes to the north and along the "Litani" river and on the east by the Golan Heights.
However, Jewish leaders who have the press, banks, political parties, groups, organizations and influential political and economic figures in the Europe and America, forced the European governments, particularly Britain to provide the immigration and obtain the temporary permission of a group of Jews to stay in Palestine from the Ottoman sultan.
The immigrants were supported by "National Fund for the acquisition of Palestinian land" economically and then they bought pieces of lands in Palestine and started their agricultural activities in the form of a group.
The entry of new classes of Jewish immigrants to Palestine and their common desire to buy more land prompted the issue into the doubt and uncertainty and excited crisis and much concerns.
The sale of the land which was mostly owned by big Arab landowners and several years ago was rented by local small farmers, caused to Arab farmers face complex difficulties, but the landowners In order to achieve their personal interests, contrary to public pressure and local tenants that protested wildly, continued to sell their lands.
It's also worth noting that, along with the creeping Zionist movement for the Palestinian territories, some of the zealous Palestinians, with tact and intelligence discovered the hidden goals and objectives of Zionism and the sounded the alarm, but nobody heard these terrible cries and did not understand and did not take a step in this way.
"Al-Ahram" newspaper published an open letter of one Palestinian students at "Al-Azhar" University in the fourth of August 1909 in which issued and warned that Jews pave the evil and ruthless way to buy land by bribes to officials of corrupted Ottoman.
As well as, at the beginning of June 1909, the member of Jaffa, gave an impeachment in the House of Ottoman "Commons" and then asked "what is the Zionism goal?" And "Does the Jewish national movement coordinate with the interests of the Ottoman Empire or not? Then asked Jaffa harbor to close on Jewish settlers. Although the issue, was new and fresh but the Palestinian elites played as the role of mediators, and instead of facing to the Zionist and stand, so they relied on the votes of the people to listen to their rulers.
Also in May 1911, the newspaper of "Hahrout" published a pamphlet text that the emergence of an organized anti-Zionist force among Arab in which it stated:
"Zionism is a danger that surrounded our country, is a frightening wave hits the coast of our country, the source of tricky and treacherous actions that have taken us. Zionism is more frightening for us rather than one lonely man who takes step in the black night. But the problem is more serious and Zionism warns us that we will soon lose our homes and will be expelled from the country.
On the other hand, "Sheikh Suleiman Taji Farooqi", in order to mobilize public opinion against Zionism, in August 1911, presented a long article in a broadsheet newspaper of Beirut called "Al-Mofid" and wrote:
"Palestine is practically in the hands of the Zionists and Zionism in Palestine is like as a State in one government and it has the own laws, the own courts, own education and even own training system... Jewish immigrants are literate and rich, while Palestinians are poor and vulnerable and are even expulsed.
Another person named "Mohammad Saleh Samadi Hussein" issued an article entitled "The ten risks of Zionism" in "Quds Al-Rai Al-Aam" newspaper and explained the consequences Zionist Jews immigration to Palestine which are as follows:
-Settling of Jews in areas of the country where are commercial and strategic or important.
Selling of the land and homes of local people-
The loss of fertile and expensive lands-
-Return of Jews money to their own pockets, with establishment of the drinking places and other places of this kind for the Arabs.
Prestige of Zionist schools on educational fields of country.-
Failing of Arab powerful and prudence minded leaders -
-The economic dominance of Jews over Palestine in which facilitate their political dominance over them.
In addition to these warnings which were disperse, that published in the form of articles, notices and letters, some of the master pen stressed and emphasized on the serious risks of the Zionist movement in their works. "Al-Saher and Al-Yahudi" written by "Al-Asaf Al-Nashashibi" (on March 1909) and "Al-Fatat Al-Sehyon" (Daughter of Zion) written by "Ma'arouf Arnaut" are among them.
